Marshal Jack Harkness stops in front of Bay-1. “And this old girl is our main defender. Well, she was. No pilots now. We call her—”

“Bad Wolf,” he says, staring up at the Jaeger in awe. “Oh, she is beautiful.” Stunning, really. Bad Wolf gleams in shades of gold under the Shatterdome lights. She’s smaller than the other Jaegers in the base, her design sleeker, meant for speed. Grace obscuring an underlying brutality, like an oncoming storm. A force to be reckoned with.

Jack nods. “She was the only prototype for the Mark-4s. One of a kind. A bit temperamental. She’s picky when it comes to pilots. Doesn’t let just anyone in.” Jack is serious when he looks at the ranger, the good-natured smile dropping from his face. “I’m sure you’ve heard people call her a maneater.”

He has. Bad Wolf has been unofficially decommissioned for years. No one was willing to risk bonding with a Jaeger that keeps losing pilots. Until now.

Without another word Jack claps him on the shoulder and turns away, leaving his newest ranger standing in front of Bad Wolf. “Welcome to the Anchorage Shatterdome, Doc.”
