Tragedians are one of my favourite metanarrative aspects of Pathologic; the tutorials presented as the stagehands observing the production, commenting and advising! 🍀You wish your art was more..(fill in the blank)

Hmmm. I think I wish it were more appealing? I know it looks alright, but I wish I did more full illustrations to really let it shine and truly stand out, since I think it's kinda unique in a way...but since I'm making assets and pagedolls for the project, it kinda looks bland without a background, especially since I'm not showing off the non-humans/neighbors yet, and I'm not doing crazy shading because it's just like...key art for showing off a character or two lol.

Such is the curse of making a project, where it eats up all of your time, including art time! Soon, I intend to sketch up some key arc artwork, so hopefully that gives me enough momentum to make more illustrations and make it pop more.

🌊What’s the hardest thing for you to draw? 

ANIMALS. ANIMALS ANIMALS ANIMALS. Literally just plain old animals. The AGONYYYYYY. I spend SO MUCH TIME getting their anatomy right whenever I draw them. They come out okay, but making more chimeric people/creatures comes way easier since I can take liberties on the anatomy. Like these guys from a while back, or Luana's changeling form from the blog's early early days (slight NSFW, nothing is showing but her jugs are there soooo???).

Yeah, well, my comic got banned in one of the discord servers I'm in because it was "potentially dangerous content".

I'm assuming they were referring to the drag scene, but I don't know.

hi!! in need of moots who share a love for writing, creating ocs, world building, & all that fun stuff!!! i would love to have more people to be able to talk about ocs / canon characters, writing, and original universes with, so don’t hesitate to interact with this if this sounds like you!!!

while it is absolutely true that not every abuse survivor turns out to become an asshole or have ugly symptoms because of their trauma, the large majority of characters people bring up to invalidate the trauma of villain/anti-hero abuse survivors (”[hero character] was abused too and he turned out to be a nice person”) don’t show any symptoms at all and their personalities are unrealistically well-adjusted for the trauma they were supposed to have gone through, so if you’re mad abuse survivors flock to villains instead of the hero characters maybe start blaming the writers for barely ever giving the nice guys a realistic approach to trauma ???

Avoiding therapy speak in dialogue is easy when your work is pre 2010's, but the downside is that you have to realize even well meaning or characters literally in a category of oppressed people would probably use language we'd see as appalling in 2024. I have half a mind to tone it down to avoid having to add a TW or make it come off as too heavy handed or something.

I always try to tone down the modern way the text reads for EVERYTHING really because I played a VN (which I loved btw) that suddenly used modern therapyspeak when the MC finally had a character development moment and I was so taken aback I had to go back over my Ren'Py script to make sure I didn't do the same. It's sad when you realize a character COULD say "gargle my dick and balls," but because it's 1965 you have to find new slang to not cause a complete timescrew for the reader, which the world already has going on because of magic tech tropes at play.
