I've been real busy lately because it's December and I work at the post office, so of course I am

But that doesn't mean I can't show up with an unprompted PSA

Hey! Have you ever mailed a letter to Santa Claus? Have you ever wondered what exactly happened to that letter? Well wonder no longer! If it had a stamp and a return address, then odds are that it ended up on the USPS's Operation Santa page!

Every year, the USPS collects letters to Santa Claus, and processes them to black out any identifying information. Last names, addresses, things like that. Then, the letters are posted on the Operation Santa webpage and people can adopt the letters.

Once you adopt a letter, you can buy gifts for them, wrap them up, and package them. Then you get a barcode from the website, and bring them to a post office. The clerk there will scan the barcode, which prints out a label with the address on it, and sends out the gift.

It's anonymous on both ends, and is generally just. A really nice thing to do.

I highly recommend it if you have some money to spare this year and want to give a kid a moment of magic this year

It's one of those things that the post office just happened to be positioned to do, and ended up knocking it out of the park. Unfortunately, I don't think they advertise this nearly well enough, and most letters end up going unanswered

Hopefully, a few more will be answered this year

HOW TO REQUEST AN ACCOUNT ON TWITTER

(If the account has been posted on the Twitter page, please follow these steps:)

Make sure you have read the Twitter Specific rules. (These rules are listed below)

Send a message to our Twitter page. I will look over your page and make sure your account follows our requirements.

Provided your account follows our rules and requirements I will contact you about the account.

Please feel free to send any questions or concerns you might have our way via Twitter or Tumblr.

PLEASE READ THESE BEFORE ASKING OR REQUESTING ANYTHING!

Do not be rude. I will not respond or accept your request at all if you are rude or demanding.

Do not spam me with requests. I will most likely just block you and ignore them.

Please let me know if you tweet about nsfw/gore. If you are solely nsfw/gore account please do not request from me.

Limit your requests to one account every 2 months. (OR if requesting a multiple UR account please do not request again for 4 months).

All accounts come on a first-come, first-served basis.  Once all the accounts are gone, they’re gone. Please do not pester me.

All accounts have at least 3 SRs, 1 SSRs and 2 SRs, 2 SSRs, or 1 UR if they’re on either server.

Please be specific about what account you want.

Please do not send requests for accounts we do not have posted! Our tumblr page accepts reservations but our twitter does not. You may also ask for accounts on our accounts page.

If I do not have the account you’ve requested anymore I will send you a message letting you know, from there you may request a different account.

If you have read all the rules please include the phrase “Shiny!” in your request.

Please do not request an account if you’ve recently requested an account from another giveaway site or blog recently.

Please do not request if your account is not active for at least 60% of the month.

Please make sure your account is not private. If you really do not want your profile to be public because of personal reasons please make sure to accept my follow request, you will not get an account until I can check your profile.

Do not sell these accounts. Do not use any screenshots I post for fake giveaways. This is meant to help people get a good starter account. Do not monetize off of us or extort others.

Please do not send requests for cleaning accounts on twitter. We only accept those through Tumblr!

We reserve the right to reject anyone on any basis.
