Barnabas is truly the only person who wants Willie to stay in town—including Willie. Everyone would be better off without him hanging around—again, including Willie! This isn't the first time we've been in this situation either, except now Barnabas doesn't even need Willie to watch over his body during the day. Barnabas really did escape his 170 year imprisonment and imprinted on the first person he saw.

also, 12, 13, and 20 for sabrina
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
She always really tries to get Chris to laugh or smile when he looks troubled. Hence the party hat in the flashback. I also have a headcanon that she's into photography. The angsty thought that she used to try to get a good photograph of the full moon suddenly manifested.
13. What's an emoji, an emoticon and/or any symbol that reminds you of this character or you think the character would use a lot?
I feel like she has a vibe that she'd spam all emojis but noone can tell if its ironically or not. But she'd probably use 🥰
20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?
She and Carolyn were besties we didn't see enough of, even if it was a messy situation.

There was a character in a book I read once who was described as "handsomely fat" and that phrase is stuck in my brain forever. The author really was like "no shut up, they're charismatic, they're good-looking, they're handsomely fat. not just handsome AND fat; them being fat is directly contributing to their good looks. you agree." and they were RIGHT

7 and 8 for Julia ?
@widowshill
7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?
I like when they include her as one of the heavy hitters next to barnabas, angelique, and quentin, because i feel she is. @ jim pearson stop leaving her off official merch pls
8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?
Barnabas and Julia get Straight Married and Settle Down and have 2 kids named Sarah Naomi Collins and Benjamin Joshua collins. 🙄
Julia is in her mid/late forties and Barnabas has physically died and been medically resurrected at least twice. Those bitches are not conceiving.

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character? — Chris Jennings
Gonna use this as an excuse to go off about my preferences for DS lycanthropy themes and mechanics.
I HC that him and Tom are identical twins. Thematically, I want the lycanthropy quentin and chris have to be a curse because you're still wholly human. A stain on the soul, not the body or mind. and outside of strong magic or watching a transformation, there is no way to tell whether someone is a werewolf or not. This aligns with Julia's implied failure to identify anything abnormal with Chris when she and barnabas agree to help him pre-1897. What more irrefutable argument for that can there be than making chris and tom being monozygotic? I like making vampirism and lycanthropy contrast each other like this. The horror of lycanthropy to the one afflicted with it is total powerlessness and loss of agency. You cannot control or stop the onset of the change, or what your body does once it happens. you are not even aware of it. Yet you are still culpable, and the guilt is no less intense for being indirect. The horror of vampirism to the one afflicted is the inverse. Your mind is warped with harmful desires but you retain your free will and agency. You can chose how to use the inhuman abilities the condition grants. Everything you do is still technically your choice, and you have to remember wanting or craving to do the evil you wrought.
Chris is not "there" underneath the creature. It would show no mercy to his loved ones.
Even if Chris found a way to escape the curse himself, he would still pass the curse on to any children he fathered, because they would still be descendants of Quentin. Due to this, Chris is vehemently anti-natalist for himself and Amy. He dreads the day she must be told the truth.
Because the curse was set on Quentin through him drinking a potion, the transformation pains always start in the core and branch outward from there.
Not a headcanon but i do love the subtext that Chris thought his curse or another werewolf may have been responsible for Toms death, given that he arrives in town on the start of a full moon and is asking pointed questions about exactly what kind of "animal bites" he had. I also think a lot about the fact that chris doesnt know why he is a werewolf until Leviathans. He suffered the curse for years without any explanation, and i expect he would internalize the curse in ways Quentin never did or ever would have.
He and Tom were born in June 1944. I chose this BEFORE realizing this would make them Gemini, lol. This is the year shown on Tom’s tombstone, and I like it better than the older brother chris birth year of ~1940/1941 implied by the show in one line about chris having the curse for 7 years. Seven years seems a couple years too many for how shoddily we see him managing the curse. 1944 puts his 21st birthday at 1965, and three years with the curse at his entrance episode which feels better.
Anyway uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh fluff headcanons :3
Briscoe has a little scar on his jaw. I HC that only chris has that, gotten from playing with Tom and the neighborhood boys as kids. It was one of the easy ways to tell them apart.
Chris and tom would play games with amy as a young toddler where they'd both put on the exact same clothes and Tom would "magically" "teleport" from one hiding spot to another.
Chris, Tom, Joe, and Amy did the Wizard of Oz for halloween one year. Chris was the Scarecrow, Tom the Tin Man, Joe the Cowardly Lion, and Amy as Dorothy.
@blairslamb
#Dont ever ask me about chris unless you're prepared for an entire doctoral thesis#this isn't even half of what ive made up wholecloth surrounding him#chris jennings#dark shadows#thank you for the ask!#character asks#sorry if this prose is overly formal or convoluted. im drunk

I can't answer this for some reason so I took a screen shot
@tortoisesshells
2. Favorite canon thing about this character?
Trying to think of one cuz most of canon sucks for him but I think its sweet that he's a protective big brother
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
I had a headcanon I want to use in a fic that he and Tom grew up in Bangor, then moved to Collinsport as teens (Joe mentions in Chris' 1st ep that they only went to high school together) so he's a bit of a city boy.
25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?
Not-so-hidden-lore here but I basically jumped into this show to watch Chris' arc after seeing tumblr user Danskjavlarna post a screencap of the 'I can no longer be a man and an animal' scene (I'm always looking for more angsty werewolves to obsess over) but first thing that popped into my head watching 627 was "He looks like an angsty Ken doll" sorry Don and I thought he was a little dramatic but he's now probably one of my favorite werewolves

1. Why do you like or dislike this character? — Queef
like: he's a charming asshole who's fun to watch but gets *some of* what's coming to him and has a teensy bit of self reflection
dislike: he does not suffer nearly enough for what he did to Jenny and the suffering he caused Chris
