I do think that Akutagawa is the one who actually knows how to cook. He’s not particular good at it but living with his sister he had to learn. Dazai, meanwhile, just doesn’t particularly care about what he is eating.

Dazai. He’s the definition of being inappropriate.

Not exactly a headcanon, but that Akutagawa cares way more about Dazai than the other way around. He’d probably do just about anything for Dazai and that’s not healthy in any way. On one hand I want to wrap Akutagawa in a blanket and keep him far away from Dazai but on the other i just enjoy their dynamic far too much.

I do truly believe that they could be really good together if there’s some growth on both sides. I’m awful at putting it in words when I’m not writing a fic but I think they are a good match under very certain circumstances.

genuine curious, why do you ship daaku?

That is a question … aaaaah I feel like I have too many things to say on this and even with a 14 page essay, it still won’t feel like the answer, but ;A;

Basically, it’s complicated and ugly and painful, and ultimately very intriguing. I am … really not the best at articulating, as you can see, but one of the things that gets to me is that they’re both very important to each other. As in, they’ve got ~history~, and it shows when it’s the other they’re dealing with (as opposed to other characters). In Akutagawa’s case, it’s very obvious, but I also find Dazai dropping his usual pretense and revealing a side that is dark (and unapologetically cruel) very appealing, too, because in both fanwork and source material, you don’t see it often, despite it being a very raw and crucial part of him. Also, when I say I ship something, it’s generally because I find their dynamic interesting and different, not because I want them together per se, but if they did get together in one form or other, I feel like it’s an understatement to say it won’t be the classic run-off-the-mill relationship (if it even gets to be called one). It’s going to be full of rage, poison, hurt, twisted desires, killing of the former selves, negotiation, dependency, long periods of processing, regret, resentment, vulnerability, etc., and not in that order nor together. So that’s interesting too, and I think that kind of mess suits them. They also kind of deserve each other, in that way. Another thing, which sort of ties into that, is that all the ships I tend to get deeply invested in have this substantial air of being unresolved, and Dazai abandoning Akutagawa for four(?) years, leaving him to burn absolutely meets that criteria… probably even making it the quintessential case. There is no sense of finality. …I hope this is a satisfactory answer ;n;
