I've been sitting on this for a while. It's something that didn't really bother me because I have been largely desensitized to being online but I think it's something worth talking about.

If you don't like a character, don't accuse people of being groomers for making a "I support x's rights and wrongs" joke. Literally DO NOT.

First of all, that ruins fan spaces. It makes it so people are deeply afraid of enjoying characters for fear of being accused of something AWFUL that's not even true.

Recently, at the time, I had gone through something deeply personal and traumatizing and this did not help me.

Second of all, if you want to make stuff up about a piece of media, do that in your own brain and don't project it on other people. In this example, the character in question was Getaway who is decidedly not a groomer, just supremely manipulative and unlikable.

The point to this is just that you NEED to behave in fandom. You can not say that kind of thing to people. You especially cannot get upset when people tell you not to do that. You become the problem in fandom when you are willing to throw accusations and shit out at the drop of a hat.
