Still thinking of those awful evolution levels in Unova and how we’re suffering to this day for them. Rufflet, Vullaby, the Deino line, Pawniard, the Solosis and Gothita lines, Litwick, Larvesta (GOD Larvesta :( )…

Like I could go on. They chose to do that. And like, with the recent games’ level curves and the amount of relevant post game content, you won’t not get to use Hydreigon, but you look at Metagross or Garchomp and you look at the rest of the Pseudos and you wonder, you know?

Larvesta is a particularly special case because if you’re serious about having one in your team throughout, you’ll either have a dedicated (mid) physical attacker that involved into something that doesn’t care for its attack stat, or a poor special attacker whose only saving grace jus that it’s STABs have better special attackers than physical attacks anyway (U-turn is an exception because U-turn transcends STAB)

Also in my head, IF Hydreigon doesn’t get a mega (which would make it the only pre gen 6 pseudos to NOT have a mega) it’s likely because of that damn level 64. Like they make you use something with hustle + in a slow level group for so many levels? Also it’s just hit me that Deino-Zweilous into Hydreigon has the same problems as Larvesta into Volcarona. Now we know why Ghetsis stuck with that physical set…

Literally this problem is so stupid that in BW2 they scripted 2(/3) overworld encounters of Pokemon that evolve super late (Braviary/Mandibuzz (you can get both with the appropriate key via Unova link iirc) and the stationery Volcarona being an earlier encounter than in BW)

All this to say please do better TPC. You can ABSOLUTELY change those evo levels; no one’s stopping you except yourselves.

Hydreigon is the only pre gen 6 pseudo to not have an official mega evolution (at the date of this post. Who knows what will happen)

Also Greg was doing some VERY manipulative stuff. Emotionally.

An episode that shows that Greg is, amongst other things, very clearly dissatisfied with Steven’s parenting arrangement. Not necessarily because of Steven, but because of how it feels for him (which is not a bad thing).

And then Greg makes what seems to him like a harmless decision, lying about whether Steven’s healing powers worked or not (it’s a small lie, from his perspective) but it’s the worst lie he could have told in that moment considering Steven is already insecure in his place and power as a Crystal Gem. Pearl actually gives a VERY good response to things, addressing Steven’s powers instead of Steven himself (“Your powers can be fickle”) but that’s not what it sounds like to Steven, OBVIOUSLY.

Episode is painted in a new light by the one episode in Future where Steven has a falling out with his dad, and in turn paints THAT episode in a new light.
