i think the most bittersweet thing about kenai and kodas relationship is that they both lost someone they loved so much but then they both became that exact person the other lost. like

kenai lost his brother = koda became his little brother

koda lost his mother = kenai became his parental figure (like sitka)

they lost someone they loved dearly, then gained someone that they absolutely love dearly
