A quick doodle of a katar-wielding Celegorm for @arwenindomiel’s 2025 Tolkien South Asian Week! The stabbiest and punchiest of weapons for the stabbiest and punchiest of elves.

This is a loose fantasy take on on 18th c. Rajasthani armor! (usual caveat: I don’t know anything about history OR armor except how to use google):

-katar: A punch-dagger! I read that they were sometimes used two-handed, and I don’t know if that’s accurate, but I gave him two for double the stabbiness.

- armor: His coat is a chilta hazar masha. I love the distinctively curved shoulder-guards and the stitching — they are so beautiful and feel very elvish. I got very lazy and did not bother to draw the quilting properly, but the real thing is spectacular!

- chainmail helm: A fantasy take on a kulah kudh helmet to allow for elf ears while still protecting the face. There are two separate panels — one solid in back and one split panel draped over the nose. I also wanted to make the helmet part a bit more fantasy, so I added a falcon-y beak and wing motif for the Celegorm the hunter look.

- which I realized made him look very Assassin’s Creed, so I hurriedly toned it down and replaced it with a more realistic spike and rounded cap. rip celegorm you would’ve loved assassin’s creed

Finally finished my Silmarillion/Lord of the Rings bookmark design! (Tumblr predictably destroyed the quality but you can click to see the original 🥲)

The top follows the story of Silmarillion from the Darkening of Valinor to Elwing’s flight from Sirion (upper left to upper right), and the bottom follows the Lord of the Rings from Bag-End to Mordor (lower right to lower left). At the end, of course, we end up back in Valinor to close the loop.

It ended up a bit cluttered because there was so much I wanted to fit in, but overall I’m rather happy with it :)

Guys, it took me ages to understand what ship was Haladriel.

For a moment I lived in a world where Haleth of the Haladin got with a Finwean, and it was not Caranthir, but Galadriel.

Please do not ask of the mental loops my brain did.

Inspired by my favorite Goldberry moment in The Adventures of Tom Bombadil, when she pulls him into the river and steals his feathered hat. I like to think she still has a mischievous streak even after they get married.
