Ever since it came up that Orpheus brought Cerberus out of a book, I've always been under the vague impression that he came from the Hound of Baskervilles, despite the fact I know very little about Sherlock Holmes and absolutely nothing about that particular novel.
#i have to admit that i find this surprisingly wholesome...#because i imagine Orpheus read him out right before the end of the novel#and that would be a much better fate for him than what happens in hound#inkspell#four eyes#cerberus

No third option, because staying in our world would of course be the sensible choice, but it would also be the boring one and we can't have that.

Does anyone have any idea why in the english translation of Inkheart it's The Bluejay when in german he's called the Jay? Or did that just sound too much like a nickname and not enough like a bird? Cuz like
this is pretty but not the bird the Character is named after which would be this:
And I'm wondering wether that really just got changed because Jay sounds too much like a normal name. (also arent Bluejays native to north america? that doesnt matter in the inworld ofc cuz it's fantasy but as a fun little detail/foreshadowing it's mentioned earlier on in Inkspell that Mo would give Meggie apology gifts like a bookmark decorated with jaybird feathers which he'd collect in Elinors garden. In northern italy. Where you would not find bluejays)

Inkheart - Rebound Feb 2024
By Cornelia Funke. This rebind was made for a talented friend in a Inkheart exchange! Inkheart is undeniably one of my absolute favorite book series from childhood and I was so happy to make this. Book 2 of my monochromatic obsession that I have yet to find my way out of. Haha

#i have no idea#but wow for years i thought that the bird in the first photo is called 'American Bluejay' and the second one 'Eurasian Bluejay' and#I just checked wikipedia and of course that's wrong. as you've said that's a Eurasian Jay#so thank you for clearing up that misinformation XD#inkspell#inkdeath#mortimer folchart

Gwin.

little shadow ban painterly thing. Wanted to try some things out.
need to render him properly someday and not just slap the laziest color gradients over messy grayscale.

Fenoglio is such an interesting character.
On one hand, it's obvious that he's not just a character. He's also an exploration about how an author may feel if they ended up in his situation, you know? I feel like he was not only fun to write, but also a character that involved a lot of thought as well.
However, he's still a proper character, as well. And I find it fascinating how he interacted with his world, seeing all the flaws in the *characters* and not the flaws in his *writing.*
Cosimo isn't the golden boy he originally wanted. He sees no value in the people around him as people, just as strings to be pulled despite living in this world. He has no issues being confronted with his decision to tie beauty to morality or make it illegal for women to be literate. It's still his world, and despite essentially cutting it off after he finished writing the book, he seems desperate to essentially play his again and mold it into something "better" all while ignoring the agency of people around him, as if they were SIMS or something similar.

No problem^^ It's in the last few paragraphs of chapter 57 btw, in case you want to check for yourself. It's the chapter right after the one with the night-mare vs Dustfinger scene, should be called something like "Too late?"
Hmmm. If any of you guys happen to have a digital copy of Inkdeath you could CTRL + F through, would you mind checking how many seeds Resa ate? (Trying to avoid putting any spoilers in the post but. You know the ones)
#i'm sorry I can't actually get you the exact quote in english because Inkdeath isn't up on the internet archive for borrowing#well it is. but not in english#i thought one library would have it on there for sure but. well
