Important rules/tips I've learned as an adult that helped with anxiety
If people are mad at you, it's their responsibility to tell you, not your responsibility to guess
If they're mad at you in secret anyways, they're the ones in the wrong, not you
If people don't like what you're doing, it's their responsibility to tell you
If they say it's fine when it's really not, they're the ones in the wrong, not you
People are allowed to be wrong about you
If they are wrong about you, wait for them to bring it up, because if you try to, you will inevitably overcorrect
Some people are committed to misunderstanding you. You will not win arguments against them. Yes, even if you explain your point of view. They do not care. Drop it
The worst thing that will happen from a first-time offense is being told not to do it again. Maybe with a replacement if you broke something
You can improve relationships and gauge willingness to talk to you by giving compliments. It's like a daily log-in bonus and nobody thinks twice about it
Most things are better after you sleep on them
Most things are better after you have a meal
Most things are better after you shower
Your brain makes up consequences that are irrational. If the worst DOES come to pass and someone acts like they do in your head, they are overreacting, and you are entitled to say "what the fuck"
If your chest hurts after you feel like you've made a social error, that's called rejection-sensitive dysphoria. It means your anxiety is so bad that it's causing you physical pain, which is a good indicator that you're overreacting. Tense yourself, hold it for 20 seconds, let it go, then find a distraction
If you're suddenly angry at someone after you feel like you made a social error, that's also rejection-sensitive dysphoria. You are going to feel annoyed about it for awhile, but being genuinely pissed off is your anxiety trying to find something to blame to take the responsibility off your shoulders, and getting scared because it can't justify itself. Deep breaths, ask yourself how much you ACTUALLY want to be angry at that person, then find a distraction
"Sour grapes" is more healthy for you than stewing. Deciding you don't like someone who's perpetually annoyed with you, won't talk to you, etc. makes letting go of anxiety over them easier
If people don't like you, they will find reasons to be annoyed with you when they otherwise wouldn't. If people do like you, they will find reasons NOT to be annoyed with you when they otherwise would. People do not ping-pong between the two
You DO have to make a conscious choice not to think about something. If you're having trouble circling back to it, say out loud that you're done thinking about it and why. Then find a distraction
When you're upset, part of you is going to want to make false bids for attention (suddenly texting differently, heavy sighs, etc. but when someone asks you about it, you tell them it's nothing). Do not listen to it. You gain nothing from it except more misery
People like to help people they care about. It makes them feel good about themselves
If you think you're insufferable for needing help, see above. Yes, really. They get a serotonin kick from it
If you think you're insufferable for mannerisms you have, you either have to consciously choose not to do them, or accept that they're part of the package that comes with you. Being apologetic about existing does nothing except make you more miserable
If you do things you don't like when you feel meh about it, it makes it easier to do them when you hate it
If you avoid things you don't like when you feel meh about it, it reinforces and magnifies how bad it feels when you hate it
Seriously. Read those last two points again. If you can make yourself make a phone call when you've got nothing to lose, you will slowly lose that panic you get when you have to make a phone call you haven't prepared for. You do have to CONSCIOUSLY take that step
Hobbies that make you care for something get rid of that nagging feeling that you're not doing enough. Go grow some rosemary
If you don't engage with your hobbies regularly, you will feel miserable, and anxiety will spike
Hobbies are things that give you a bit of happiness. They do not have to be organized or named to do that. Go be creative in something. Play with coins. Make up lists. Start a new WIP
No one cares what you look like
If people point out things they don't like about how you look unprompted, they are being rude. You are entitled to say "what the fuck"
People who like you will find you pretty to some degree. Minor things about your appearance go completely unnoticed. Literally, scars and dots and blemishes do not register to someone who likes your company
You looking at yourself in the mirror is 10x more closely than anyone is going to look at you
If you're anxious about your body type, and you're creatively inclined, make/write an oc with that same shape. Give them nice things and make other characters love them. Put them on adventures. You'll start to see yourself in the mirror more kindly
You care about wording and perfect lines/colors way more than anyone who views your work ever will
Sometimes when you're upset, you're going to feel like not eating. Do not do that. Not eating makes you more miserable
Same with things you normally enjoy. Denying yourself helps no one. You are punishing yourself for being sad. Stop it
Both of these will take conscious decision to break the habit of. Make yourself do it anyways, and it will slowly get easier
And again, to reiterate: If someone is mad at you, it is THEIR responsibility to tell you, not your responsibility to guess

please please please please reblog if you’re a writer and have at some point felt like your writing is getting worse. I need to know if I’m the only one who’s struggling with these thoughts

i wonder sometimes if people understand how much courage it takes artists to share their art. it's you giving your heart to the world and saying 'here, i made this' without knowing if it will be held gently or even held at all. every time you make yourself that vulnerable, you're opening yourself up to potential hurt. and yet artists keep doing it over and over again. because if just one person says 'i see what you made and it means something to me'...that makes it all worth it
#oh gods yeah#shareing something only to have it completely and utterly ignored hurts so bad#i ligit don't know if ill ever share my writing again tbh#like id have preferred everyone say they hate it rather than be met with total silence and indifference#tis what i get for expecting folks to actually care about me or anything i do tho ig

It's impressive how Neil Gaiman vanished from the internet. Wish Rowling would do the same.

BTW i see these posts all the time like "ohhh i dont know what to comment on fics.." and every response is "keysmashes! or hearts!! anything works :3" and thats GREAT!! thats helpful!!
but: consider. if u genuinely like analyzing writing.. do u know ur just allowed to go through and quote your favorite parts and ramble abt what they mean to u and the author will LOSE IT WITH HYPE?
genuinely. i felt SO WEIRD the first time i did it.. but like. holy shit authors love it. its crack for authors. the first time i did it, it was on a fic that hadnt updated in half a year, give or take, and the author made 3 updates that month BECAUSE OF MY COMMENT.
LIKE. as an author every comment is INCREDIBLE!!! but also, dont feel like your comment has to be short or otherwise ur invasive or smth!! authors ADORE long comments more than ANYTHING.

Tbh interviewing for a writing position I gotta think that would have to be a plus like "I want to know everything" "hell yeah, that's the spirit you're hired" lol
On one hand I would love to work for DE's writing team, on the other, if I had an interview and they said something like "do you have any questions" and they accepted lore questions the interview length would be extended by 20 hours. I'd be vibrating like an electron

So… This is Aiden (operator version). He has hero and imposter syndrome (help him). He's on the edge, but he's only known war and struggles to do anything else. He lost an eye in the tragic accident of Zariman Ten Zero. He is one of the figures of a Tenno clan that wants to break free from the Lotus following the event of the New War.. Sometimes he hides in the dormizone to play music and build figurines. He loves building model spaceships with mini figurines.

Yeah if my colourblind can't draw for shit ass can attempt to draw my girls, then you owe it to yourself to try and draw your drifter like jin says practice makes perfect and tbh why care about perfection just have fun drawing your peoples y'know
Honestly, you've given me the urge to draw my Drifter. The only reason I haven't is because I know my art isn't that great and I will probably accidentally massacre my Drifter. Mah Drifter too pretty to be massacred.
Nooo, do it, do it!! Practice makes perfect, and eventually you'll get it!!

Just say you want uk trans folk to lie down and die so you can keep on loving your shithole series rather than have even the smallest amount of care and respect for us and yes you people are a danger constantly putting your HP crap in spaces ment to be safe like Ik you don't care about her obviously but you do realise the same woman you called disgusting for rightfully taking issue with your stance of 'fuck you I don't care if you die I want to force a queer narrative into my shitty book series and pretend its helping' has been suicidal since the court ruling of course you don't cos you and your ilk don't care about us do you honestly pathetic to still cling to something that represents hate of us so hard or is it cos we're British does she deserve to die cos she had the misfortune to be born here do I? Genuinely asking cos it honestly confuses me how you people can continue to help keep alive a franchise that literally like demonstrably funds our hate and murder without any self-awareness
And telling me to touch grass really are you five not that it's at all relevant but I do daily doesn't change the material conditions of reality where Joanne is using her wealth to fund our deaths and using the continued popularity of the franchise to keep making money on it to you guessed it FUND OUR DEATHS
Honestly, tell me your usamerican without telling me you're usamerican that exceptionalism yall are on is a hell of a drug but hey nobody else matters as long as your happy right?
I mean gods damn you're somewhat aware of the harm that's been done. You literally mentioned the court ruling yourself but somehow failed to extrapolate and understand the actual scale of the harm done or have you and determined that us trannies on terf island don't matter
Love the projection btw like do you just feel threatened by being called out or do you actually see insults and death threats in my previous reblog
Also, I would really recommend looking up the concept of false equivalence. You've fallen into that trap a few times hun
"I care more about a book series than real human lives" =/= I want to have human rights feel viscerally ill that there are people that should understand that instead gleefully supporting the continued erosion of them

And before you say it not giving money directly is the bare minimum as long as the vile cunts works remain popular she'll keep getting money for them do you think she got her hbo series by magic obviously not she got it cos the ip is still popular enough to get money thrown at it
As a trans person, I am never, ever, ever giving up Harry Potter. And our fandom isn't going anywhere. Fucking deal with it.
Around this time last year, when JKR made some stupid comment (totally forgetting which one, there's just been so many at this point), I wrote a defense of Harry Potter fans' decision to remain in the fandom that essentially boiled down to this: giving up this fandom means giving up our people. In the wake of JKR's horrendous role in the anti-scientific UK Supreme Court ruling conflating sex with gender, this sentiment remains exactly the same.
I don't begrudge any HP fan who can no longer engage with JKR's IP due to this vile development. But I remain loud and proud in my support of the ✨community✨ that Harry Potter has brought together. As I mentioned in my last post, this community is not only full of the funniest, nicest, cleverest, and most creative people I've ever met in my life, but it is also the most diverse I have ever been a part of — and as an extrovert and community organizer who has lived in four different countries and speaks three languages, I have met a shit ton of people and been a part of lots of communities, significantly more than the average person. You are out of your mind if you think I am going to turn my back on the community that has been so critical to my survival as a queer, brown, neurodivergent, depressed, burnt out, poor Muslim femme in this capitalist, fascist hellscape. Day in and day out, my friends and I are pushing forward some of the most powerful narratives about queer, trans, and colonial liberation that society has to offer, which will have ripple effects on media and pop culture in the time to come (as is the nature of fandom). Nothing JKR can do or say will take that away from us. Nothing.
So to everyone who wants to claim that we're being transphobic for FREELY engaging with JKR's IP and doing things with it that would make her combust — that we're transphobic for wanting to keep this beautiful, generous community in tact — I not so kindly ask you to fuck off and leave us the fuck alone. You resist your way, and we will continue to resist in ours.
#also in what world is a transphobe and a trans rights activist equally dangerous to trans folk#dont act like you know me kid you don't know what i do irl 'Internet warrior' what a joke#tbh i don't actually get involved in stupid Internet debates#just kinda felt i needed to say something when someone very dear to me was being wildly misinterpreted#ill be fair she should have been reasonable and polite about it right#cos gods forbid a girl get angry about losing her rights only to have her own community choose the hate mongers book over her life

"Gatekeep transness" you're joking, right?
I mean, this is the piss on the poor website but obviously not what she ment
Like, did she say you weren't trans no she said folks like yourself who have proven to not care about the harm you're doing to a not small part of the trans community by flaunting your love for a trauma trigger indelibly linked to the striping of our rights and the very fact that you don't care is why you shouldn't be welcome in the community you're a danger to it plain and simple.
As a trans person, I am never, ever, ever giving up Harry Potter. And our fandom isn't going anywhere. Fucking deal with it.
