The Guest Ch.9 “It’s Going to be a Long Night.”

It was going to be a long night.
Candace figured as much, watching Drake's mother chug down the remains of her bottle. She carelessly flings it aside letting it roll to a family of abandoned others underneath the couch.
The Walker home was charming and cozy, the walls filled with pictures, each room had its on braided rug to to protect your feet from the cold hard wood floor. Nothing in the home seem to be decorative only necessary for comfort.
Mrs. Walker stayed on the floor. Her eyes closed to the world.
"How long did it take for you to find me this time?" the words slurred and she talked slowly to make sure she was understood.
"Two days." Drake responded sucking down his anger ...and embarrassment.
"Woah...you're getting good at this."
Candace forced herself to stare at the family portrait. Somehow the idea of looking at Drake's mother in her predicament seemed intrusive. So her eyes stayed to the family on the wall: a tall man who stood firm but proud his dark brown hair combed back but one unruly strand hung upfront, a young girl in a bright pink dress her two front teeth gone but she dawned cutest grin, a young boy spitting image from his father trying his best to mimic his stance and a woman between them all her smile warm and happy. What happened to them?
"Mom can you stand up? Let's go take a bath."
"Pshh...who's the parent here?!" Drake's mother squeals trying to stand to her feet but is pulled back down by her own weight. As she plops, she laughs.
Candace thought it was a laugh...at first. The sputtering chortles soon became painful wails. Her thoughts on privacy for the woman disappeared. She wanted to know how she got to this point. What happened to her?
"You know...I tried to call her to wish her a Happy Birthday. Did she tell you that?"
Candace and Drake stay silent. It was the most coherent thing she'd said all night, yet to Candace it made no sense.
"She?" the question flew out before she could stop it. Drake gives her a hard look and she wished she'd just left the room when he brought her.
"She's talking about my sister." informing with a huff.
"Drake, don't you dare act like you didn't know. She talks to you I know she does! But ...not me. I called her! I told her I loved her so much I...I'm so sorry for what I did to you...to both of you. I just can't get up. I can't get off this damn floor! I want to, I just can't--"
"I'm going to help you up, Momma." Lifting his mother from the floor carrying her body to the bathroom
"That's not what I meant." She says softly to her son who pretends he doesn't hear. He could only the fix the physical needs of his mother anything else would be too challenging.
What the hell was she thinking coming with him? Beating herself with the question over and over as she cleaned the kitchen. It was the only thing Candace could think to do while Drake was in the bathroom with his mother. She could hear them argue for a second before the water started to run. She decided to make herself useful and start a pot of coffee.
That's why you came right? To help?
"If you want to turn back now, I understand." Drake slouched on the couch his head tilted to the ceiling eyes shut. "It's going to be a long night tonight...."
"Do you usually detox her here or..." She wanted to tread lightly. Drake was hard to read. Sometimes he'd look at you with eyes that can hurt you or heal you and she wasn't sure how open he could be in this situation. "I just meant would she be going ba-"
"I could take her back now and she'd just leave a week or two later. but.. it's like New Year's when she sobers up. She gets into this health kick swearing she will be straight. And she does for a while. Then..."
Figuring the sentence didn't need finishing he lets the word hang there.
"So you have a sister. Does she comes to help with all of this."
His answer is a long yawn as he sinks lower into the couch, predicting this is the closest amount of sleep he'd be getting tonight. Drake rounds his neck and shoulders to relieve some tension."She stopped helping a while ago. With a baby to think about she needed a better environment."
"Oh..she has a baby?" Watching him trying to get comfortable, her hands, without a second thought, made their way to his shoulders working through his tense muscles pleased with herself as he grunts his appreciation.
"Yeah she lives in Paris now. The last time my mom relapsed I was away in college and Savannah was here with her. When she found out she was pregnant she took mom back to the center and moved out. She called me told me she had this affair with some guy but the relationship was over, she was pregnant but would be fine. I had to agree to allow her to make her own choices about her situation in order to be in her and Bartie's life. Ohh..." Candace could feel him soften in her hands and worked on the spot more. "But ...but she's doing so good I can't ask her to uproot her life."
"Yeah but you shouldn't have to do this on your on..."
Drake reaches up putting his hand onto hers . "You're here."
"Yeah but..."
"So. Tell me about you and Liam. I want to hear how this love story came to be." quickly changing the subject Drake took his hands away allowing Candace to continue to work on his tired body.
"Not much to tell. We worked together had a few dates and--"
"No no...I know there's a story there. I know Liam, and he's nothing short of grand romantic gestures. So what was it? Some horse drawn carriage ride to a candle light--."
"It was a funeral." Drake's silence made Candace chuckle and began her story.
"Are you enjoying yourself?" his deep brown eyes wide and hopeful his gaze never leaving hers.
"This is one of the most expensive restaurants in Queens. You can't afford this." Candace's smile was bubbly an bright but she couldn't help that. Her date had that effect on her.
"How do you know what I can afford?"
"Because I know where you work. And our drinks will probably be your entire check." they both chuckle .
"True..but you didn't answer my question."
"Yes, Drake I am enjoying myself."
The date went on with conversations filed with laughter and moments of silence when the two couldn't take their hungry eyes from each other. It all ended when her phone rang.
"Yes this is she....Oh my G--" Candace stands to her feet her body shudders in horror. When the call finishes she looks to her date. "I'm sorry I have to go."
He didn't say anything quickly taking her into his arms to calm her. She didn't hear him order the food to be bagged or for a cab to brought up front. Her mind was in a daze and it wasn't until she was in the cab and Drake asked her where they needed to go that she finally spoke.
"My foster mom passed away."
"I'm so sorry....should we go to the hospital?"
"No it was the funeral home that called me. Apparently she had everything arranged. I was listed as person of contact...
"Tell me where we need to go."
She gave him the address and in what seemed like minutes they were standing in front of her childhood home. Her hands still shook as she took out her keys. She was just there last week. Bridgette, her foster mother, insisted that she come by to helped her pick out the dress for her date tonight. She could have told her something was wrong. She could have helped.
"Is there family we need to call?" Drake hadn't left her side since the restaurant. His hand smoothing the shakes of her body. She didn't dare pretend to not want him there, figuring he would leave once he got tired of it all. It was nice to have someone, knowing that once he did eventually leave she would be completely alone.
"She has a brother in D.C. he needs to know."
"Ok anyone else?"
"No...other than the foster kids. But we all grew up and went our separate ways. I'm probably the only one who stayed in town...why didn't she tell me?"
The wave of tears were building up and she couldn't suppress them anymore. He's definitely leaving now. But then his hands were on her shoulders softly messaging. He let her cry and eventually when she calmed down they found a couch and she cried again.
She must have said something through all her blubbering because Drake responded with warm words of "You are not alone." and "I'm not going anywhere." until she fell asleep.
"And he didn't..." Candace hands still on Drake's shoulders her thoughts miles and years away. "While I was calling the church and trying to find all the kids she fostered and anyone who may want to attend the funeral, Liam was taking her dress to the dry cleaners checking on the flower arrangements. I don't know if you would call that a grand gesture but by the end of the funeral I was in love with him."
"If that's true why is your hands all over my son?!"
Candace jumped to find Mrs. Walker standing in front of them.
"I was just..." the words weren't forming as quickly as she needed them to so she stopped trying once the woman began to smile.
"I'm only teasing honey. Ohh you made coffee. I like you already."
Candace confused looks down to see Drake sound asleep.
"Let him sleep dear. My sobriety wont hit till morning so tonight he can rest."
Candace walks over to the kitchen making two cups of coffee.
"You know you've really made a name for yourself around here. “The guest who will be queen.” I wonder has the news hit that you left the palace."
Candace let the morning newspaper answer that placing it in front of her.
"Well I'll be. They think you went home? Ha the gals back at the center are going to have a field day when I get back to tell them the future Queen of Cordonia helped me detox."
Candace shifted in her seat. "I'm not..."
"Tell me honey what in blazes would make you leave a prince to fend off those hungry pack of she wolves alone."
"I wanted to help Drake." She had said it so many times but just now saying in front of his mother she finally heard the lie for what it really was "Honestly I had to get out of there. Those women are--"
"Evil...you should meet their mothers. Poisonous things they are! So I guess in a way you're detoxing too. Just don't be like me I was so wrapped up in that fear of not belonging to them I never realized that would be the worst thing for me."
Candace eyes widen to the drunken ladies wise words.
"That's 3 years of therapy for you. Ha!"
Mrs. Walker looked over Candace for a long moment. So are you in love with Drake too?"
"What?! I... what?!" the question so direct it almost knocked her off her chair. "No no no no ma'am. We are just friends."
"Yeah but Drake's never brought any other friends here before. So I've got to wonder. Because my son is plenty of things but an open book is not one of them. He's choosing to open up to you and I'm very curious as to why."
Not having an answer for her Candace makes only a quick look to the back of Drake's head. That would have to be a question for another day.
"So you think Liam is fending off the women?" Changing the subject.
"If he loves you he will for as long as he can..but honestly those girls have been trained to hook men. It's in their DNA they were raised in knowing that men in power are their goals. So best believe if you think they were vicious with you, now that you're gone the games have only just begun for the poor boy."
It's not every day when a man is escorted to his room...by a beautiful woman no less."
Liam flashes a quick grin to Kiara . It wasn't his best line but it made her smile hopefully that would be enough to get keep her happy. All he wanted to do was sop smiling a go to bed. He needed Kiara gone to do that though.
"Well you're not every man are you, my future King?" She bats her eyes at him picking up the speed in her steps as they reach his chambers.
"Well I think I've reached my stop." moving towards the door but Kiara dashes to block it with her body.
"No ...j'ai dit non! Now I have walked you to your room for the past 2 days..."
"Yes you've been very persistent." Kiara's smile is strained as she holds her stance.
"I wasn't finished... we have been doing this little tete-a-tete for too long now. Now I know that with Candace gone--"
"She'll be back soon."
"Sure she will. But a man..." her hands roaming his shoulders "A man like you deserves la petite mort from time to time..
"I should really be going ..." those were the words he spoke but he didn't move, one hand gripping the door knob the other glued on Kiara's waist . It only takes her a second to realize his struggle and she beams. Leaning in closer to him allowing her low voice to titillate his ear.
"I can keep a secret my king...If she comes back ...I would never tell her."
"If?!" that's all it took for his body to move allowing the door to slam in her face.
Resting his head on the door Liam closed his yes to the world . Taking deep breaths to calm his heart he repeated the words in his head over and over again like a mantra. ''She's coming back. She's coming back. She's coming back."
The wrap at the door forced him out of his prayer.
"Lady Kiara please go to your room. I 'm really tired."
"But I want to join the party too..." she calls from behind the door.
"The what?" Liam opens his eyes, it's then he notices the low light from his bedroom. Cautiously walking towards the light he can only hope it's Candace finally home in bed waiting for him. But as he spreads open the door the sight of them reassures her absence. There in his room, in his bed, were all the ladies of the court all in nothing but lingerie their wanting eyes directed towards him.
Liam takes a step back his body thinking ahead of his brain this time and ties to pivot out the room but Kiara catches him.
"Hey you all didn't say we were wearing lingerie"
"You were too busy trying to cheat." Madeleine quips.
"No matter...I always come prepared. " Standing in front her future king, she unzips her dress letting it fall to the floor, giggling as his eyes involuntarily scan over her black lace bra and panty set, slowly turning around so that he could take in every curve as she saunters over to find room in the full bed.
"Wha--" Liam's mouth tried to form words but his brain was not producing any. Clearing his throat to try again but his mouth went dry.
"Penelope!" Olivia orders " Fetch our kings some water. He's thirsty."
Penelope does as she's told handing him a glass and scurrying back to her place. Liam hadn't moved his eyes unable to leave the rainbow colors of bras before him, and skin he also could not unsee all the skin.
"Fuck..." was all he managed. the room filling with flirtatious giggles.
It would be a long night.

Wow I think about that Tariq scene alot. Constantine never told Tariq he just needed photos of them together he convinced the man MC wanted him... What did he think was going to happen that night.. Did he even care? You found a way to play with my fear with that scene (without triggering me so good job there) The fear of what could have happened had Drake not shown up. As always great read!

“I don’t want to leave you” Drake groaned, his lips kissing along Olivia’s ivory neck. “You going soft on me, Walker?” She turned back, her brow raised. He chuckled, pushing his hard length into her backside. “Does that feel soft to you?” Olivia bit her lip. “Again? Already?” Drake shrugged, his hand ghosting down her stomach softly stroking her most sensitive parts.

“Why did Lord Tariq leave?" Liam questioned. "Are you implying that Lady Samantha and Lord Tariq left, together?" He challenged. Bastien shook his head sadly. "If I may speak to you in private, Your Highness?" Liam looked around at his friends, his family. "No, Bastien. Anything you need to say, can be said in front of everyone. Drake and Liv, they already know about my father.” Bastien looked around nervously. “Well, Your Highness,” he exhaled, “Liam. I must be honest with you. Your father approached me with a rather odd request.” His eyes were trained at the ground. “He asked that I arrange for Lord Tariq to enter Lady Samantha’s room and that he be led to believe Lady Samantha was wishing for him to make an advance on her.” Liam stiffened. “Go on.” “He also asked that a photographer be positioned to capture the moment."

T.T.K. Chapter 22 “Say Cheese/You?!”
oA/N: Wow it’s been a while huh? Well in about 4 minutes it will officially be my birthday. Goodness! I remember last year being so determined to finish this be my birthday (insert face palm emoji here lol) Just one quick thing about this chapter the reason it has 2 titles is because I put a bit of an insert from chapter 23 Again hank you all for your support and if you are reading The Guest I should have Ch. 9 up before Monday I also plan to update my Masterlist soon.
Rating: Mature Audience only please
Word Count: 2700+ It’s a read...get comfy lol
Summary: With Mick captured what answers will Olivia and Liam get can they live with what the find out?/ Has Olivia finally found Boss?

The king's sleep were chancy these days. Since his father's murder the word "betrayal" never meant so much. Now it was like a bad taste in his mouth: static and tormenting. It wasn't until Liam followed his guards into Olivia's dungeon that his nightmares finally became reality. The sight alone knocked him back a step. There lying on a slab in a dark room was a large man riddled in small cuts from shoulder to ankle. It was the man from the photo, one of the men from the attack and if Bastien's theory was right, the man she hired to kill him. Could Olivia really do this? Could she be this dark? Would it be him on this table next? Then one question he'd been asking himself every night before sleep eventually took him, could she hate him this much?
"Why is he still restrained?"
"We were waiting for you, Your Majesty." Bastien states "He is the Duchess' henchman after all."
"Ha! I'm what now?" Mick wanted to cackle but he thought better to play this right.
"Are you willing to testify that Duchess Nevarkis hired you to assassinate me?"
"Red? Oh...oh yeah! That bi-- Boss hired me. Just look at what she did to me after fouling up the job. Just let me go, please and I'll tell you all the things she paid me to do to you."
"Your Majesty what are you doing?" Bastien cautions watching as his king struggles to unleash the hit man.
"If you all won't release him I will."
Mick tried his best to hide the grin growing. He was never one to leave a job unfinished and mere breaths away, freeing him no less, was one of his biggest yet unfinished jobs to date.
"Can I touch your belly?" Hana asks her hand already hovering over Riley's stomach .
"Sure but we won't feel her kick till a couple more weeks."
"Her?!!! It's a girl?!!!!!!!!" Hana squeals.
"We don't know that." Drake sits next to them at the breakfast table handing his wife a small fruit plate."Riley here is just wishful thinking, and also setting herself up for disappointment when she finds out my son is in there."
"Oh so who's wishful thinking now?" Maxwell chuckles sitting next to him "So how far along are you?"
"About 15 weeks. We have a doctor's appointment in 2 weeks to put this debate to rest."
"Well that's just in time for my soiree."
The friends at the table all turn to see Neville standing before them shifting from one foot to the other."I just---I wanted to invite you...all of you to my estate for my year end event."
"Ummm...." someone mutters as the gang all look to each other in confusion.
"Ril--I mean Duke and Duchess Walker. I would like to formally and personally invite you." He hands black envelopes sealed with boar sigil stamp. "You could come and announce whether Cordonia's 1st member of our next generation of royals will be a duke or duchess."
"You want to throw us a gender reveal?" Riley shakes her head in disbelief "What with the whole duel and--"
"Water under the bridge. Please come. I would like to make amends for how I've treated you...all of you." looking to them with humble eyes.
"Sure. We'll be there." averting from the seething look of her husband Riley focuses on the beaming smile of Neville as he heads to the next table.
"Sure?! Riley we are not going to that party. For as long as I've known that man he's never allowed me anywhere near Cormery Isle much less that party. It's probably a death trap."
"Drake's right." Maxwell chimes in.
"Thank you... Max." Drake's eyebrow raise in surprise.
"Yeah he's going to bore us to death!" Maxwell states opening the invitation to read it while Drake face palms "We'd have more fun spending New Year's in a broom closet. Neville usually only invites 1 st born royals you know those who are next in line to their family's title. He has NEVER invited me. Once I went thinking Bertrand's invitation was for me. BIGGEST mistake of my life. There wasn't even fireworks!"
"Look I hate to say this but Neville's right. This baby, boy or girl, will be the 1st of the next generation of royals and maybe that's why he's extending this olive branch. We can't be outcasts anymore Drake. We have to mingle with these people. We can't spend the rest of out lives cooped up in Valtoria."
Before Drake could argue Olivia was hovering before them her voice loud enough to command the attention of everyone in the room. Although everything about her outwardly looked in place her eyes seemed to say something entirely different as if her mind was worlds away.
"Good morning I know you all enjoyed the brunch. Look. I want to take a group photo so if you all would just-"
"Seriously Olivia, you could have allowed us to prepare." Madeline takes out her compact mirror checking the bags under her eyes, Tariq who's sitting next to her does the exact same thing.
"This isn't a cover shoot. I don't have time for ....just...." Olivia lets out a huff "Everyone get up and head over here...please." This was the courteous she could be given the fact she's spent the entire night carving Mick up like a chicken only to get useless information on Boss. Finally it occurred to her Mick was well aware of what Boss looked like so she came up with the idea of getting a photo of all the royals.
Everyone follows the duchess to a nearby staircase and slowly begin to get in place, Olivia moving those who would be hidden.
"Neville you have to come down at least 5 steps."
"But there's only women down there." He mutters
"I don't care I cant see you. Get Down!"
He reluctantly does, cringing with every snicker he hears deciding to leave the staircase entirely choosing instead to stand near the banister.
"Well since you are all here--except for King Liam, are we going to wait for him?"
"No his guards said he was indisposed. All right everyone get ready!"
Neville ignoring Olivia steps out to face the royals "I would like to invite you all to my soiree for New Yea--"
"Let me stop you right there. I'm sure I speak with everyone when I say hard pass Neville. I'd have more fun in a broom closet then at Cormery Isle."
"Hey I said that too!" Maxwell chuckles.
"Well-- well this will also be for our new Duke or Duchess of Voltaria it will be a...a..."
"A gender reveal." Riley aides.
"Yeah that." Neville looks off in frustration.
"The kid doesn't even have a gender yet and already you're making poor parenting choices." Olivia bites her bottom lip, vexed. It should not be this damn difficult to get a handful of people to stand still for 2 minutes. "I'll see if I can make it. Now quit moving...
"Wait don't forget to tel us when to say "cheese" so we will know to smile." Hana chides
"I don't care if you smile Just-"
"Well what kind of photo will that look like." Maxwell continues.
"1.2.3. Cheese . " Olivia quickly snaps the camera taking a quick look she sees that several men were not facing straight.
"Look. I'm only going to take this shot one more time. EVERYONE. Look this way or so help me I will gouge your eyes out with my stiletto, Got it?"
"Cheese!" everyone quickly responds.
The photo in her hand felt powerful, like an end to everything that has happened this year. Torturing Mick was cathartic in a since, Olivia had spent months being preoccupied with her mother's history and her own with the men in her life. Giving pain to someone helped release some of her own.
She's practically running through the large doors of the dungeon straight to the table where Mick was---gone.
Mick was gone. The table where he once lay stood there cold and empty. Olivia is frozen deciding that if she blinked hard enough he would still be there.
"Shit he got away!"
"No..he didn't" She jumps at the sight of Liam emerging from a dark corner of the room. "Olivia... we need to talk."
"Where is Mick? Where is he?" Olivia, hysteric and embarrassed, knew she should have came to Liam with Mick and the truth of what was going on but more than anything she wanted to figure it all out herself. To hand Boss to her king on a silver platter. To prove that neither of therm were their parents, or at least they didn't have to be. "He has to tell me who Boss is. Take me to him right now!"
"I can't do that." Liam turned away from her "I'm so sorry Liv. I'm so sorry I believed it was you behind all the attacks.
"Yeah...yeah I get it. My mom tried to kill your dad, your dad actually killed my mom. You'd be an idiot not to suspect me. But can we pause the apologies for just a moment someone in this photo is the actual Boss and Mick is the only person that can pick him out. So please wherever you have him just bring him back."
Liam didn't speak for a moment only staring away at the dark corner he entered from.
"He's dead Olivia." the kings words slow but powerful, so much so Olivia didn't believe she heard him correctly. Liam went on explaining what happened but nothing registered, her eyes glued to her photo.
"Your Majesty I think you should consider letting the guardsman handle this."
"I think you should mind you own damn business."Mick fires at Bastien then quickly going back to his best performance of a pained man "Come on, Your Honor, let me go. I will tell you everything you didn't know about Red."
Liam's hand stayed on the latch of the restraint. He took a moment to actually look at the man laying below him.
"I'm such an idiot." Liam chuckles " You think I don't know Liv?"
Mick nervously chuckles with the king shrugging his shoulders.
"Yeah but she has a dark side...as you can see. The Bitch is crazy!"
"Never in a million years would Liv hire you. Even if she did want to kill me, the second you'd call her "Red" would be the second you would have been fired." Liam lets go of the restraint his smile wide and full of joy.
It was Mick's turn to laugh and he did it with ease, as if he wasn't still restrained to the table in a room filled with armed guards. "You know it took Red 2 seconds to look at me and know exactly what I was up to that night. You know she's the reason I didn't get to kill you when I had the chance. Didn't even get to make back into the room because Miss. Spitfire wouldn't settle down. I knocked her ass unconscious at least 3 times that night."
Mick laughed on as Liam took a step back hanging onto every word breathing them in like knowledgeable fresh air.
"Now I see why people want you dead. You're a horrible King! Just some some pathetic rich kid who gets to have other men--real men-- do your dirty work. The only person with some balls around here is Red. If your going to have them kill me get it over with I'm sick of looking at you!"
Mick became frantic, the longer the men watched him in silence the more fear crept in. But they don't move, the guards stand their ground all waiting for their king to command them.
"Oh sir rest assured these men wont harm you unless I order them to. And I have no intention on doing that" Liam states rolling up his sleeves scaling through the torture devices Olivia had left behind."I always knew Olivia had a dark side...I wonder just how dark I can be."
"...one thing lead to another..he... he told me about he did to you...and I..." Liam raised both his hands to show Olivia "I just wanted him to shut up. I...I didn't even realize what I had done until he stopped squirming in my hands eventually Bastien pulled me off of him. The guards took him away a while ago. I’ve been waiting here for you ever since.”
Olivia takes a long breath "I was going to solve this."
They grew quite again sitting in the dark room, but soon Liam starts to laugh.
"Is it crazy that I can't be upset by this? I mean yes we still don't know who's out to get me but..." He smiles brightly at the Duchess "I know who it isn't. And that means more to me than anything."
"Finding out I'm not the one behind the attacks is better to you than actually finding the scum?"
Liam nods his head yes as Olivia raises an eyebrow.
"Yeah that's crazy."
Liam chortles pulling her into his arms not wasting a second to crash his lips onto hers. She could feel the kiss growing and took a step back to catch her breath.
"One of these people are actually out to kill you." She shakes the photo in his face trying her best to look serious knowing she was blushing. He takes a second to look at but then tosses it onto the barren table, cupping her face in his hands looking deep within a eyes.
" Yes but it wasn't you. I don't give a damn what miserable person has this vendetta out against me. Probably someone who has been unhappy for a long time and will be unhappy long after me because they have nothing. But I have you.
Liam held her in his arms once more and she let him breath her in. This Liam, this happy person she hadn't seen in months, or ever.
Happy.
Someone who is unhappy.
She looked to the photo next to her. This time actually looking at it. There in the photo were all the faces she had known pretty much her entire life. All of them looking towards the camera, all of them smiling saying "cheese"...all of them but one.
Neville.
"Oh my God! We are fucking idiots! I know who Boss is!"
"What? Who?"
"Are you going to Neville's New Year's Party?"
"No one goes to that...you'd have more fun in a broom closet."
"Yeah but this year I think Neville is planning something more than just fireworks."
2 and a half weeks later
He was watching her.
she hadn't thought about that fact until she was already deep within Neville's mansion The faint music from his from his party a noticeable reminder that she is no where near safety. But she follows on making sure to stay a good distance from the masked man.
He was watching her.
She hasn't thought to question how long. How long has he been in the dark corner staring at her. Her only thought when seeing that mask, when their eyes finally did meet was that this man was Boss, it had to be.
As he turns down towards another wing of the home Olivia braces herself realizing the man knew she was fallowing him.
She could turn back around, run and get the guards..
No. 2 weeks of trying to convince Bastien Neville is Boss was enough. She needed proof and if it wasn't Neville, Boss sure as hell was at this party and tonight would be the very last night she'd call this coward behind a mask that name. Olivia was getting damn sick of that name.
The man quickly turns a corner and before the duchess trails behind she freezes. This is it. Once turning this corner she would face him. Breathing in deep her feet move before her mind. She edges around the corner taking in the full sight of him standing, waiting at the end of the hallway looking directly at her.
Hiding her gasp with a gulp she walks toward him forcing down ever fear that dared to creep upon her. "Who are you?" She asks.
Without hesitation he removes his mask and at the sight her heart stops.
"You?!" is all she can muster as if his face knocked the wind out of her.
His words the final nail into her makeshift coffin. "Hey, Cherry.".

Got Damn it Tariq!!!!
Here's hoping this lights a fire under Liam's ass and makes him at least consider Samantha. I get it now he's scared and Liv is the best safety net you can have but eventually they wouldn't be happy together. Idk about Samantha bring Queen though she was as giddy as a school girl just being Apple Blossom Queen so imagine her maturity being actually crowned. But I'm hoping it all works out...for everyone....except for Tariq I mean I don't think he was even in any of the previous chapters but he can go take a longwalk off a short cliff 🚶 🚶
Chasing the Moon Chapter 14: Conversations
AU what would happen if Drake and Olivia were involved before the start of the social season.
Pairing: Drake x Olivia x Liam x Samantha
Words: 1900
Rating: Mature
Disclaimer: I do not own TRR characters they belong to Pixelberry

After the country jamboree, Drake made his way nervously to Liam’s room. He took a deep breath and knocked. Liam answered a moment later, wearing his dress pants and t-shirt. "Oh, Drake. What are you doing here?" He questioned. "I think it's time we had a talk, man to man." Liam raised his eyebrows in question. "Should I have Bastien present? I'm not sure I can take another broken nose so close to the coronation." Drake, dropped his head. "I don't want to fight you Liam, I want to talk….about Liv."
Liam nodded, stepping aside to allow Drake to enter. He poured them each a glass of scotch as Drake took a seat. Liam handed him the glass and Drake nodded in appreciation. Liam took a seat as they each took a sip, neither really knowing where to begin. Finally after a long silence, Drake spoke. "Why Liv?” Drake asked. Liam furrowed his brow as Drake continued. "Why are you pursuing Liv, after I told you how I feel? Why did you go and fuck her." Drake’s jaw clenched. Liam took another sip of his drink thinking first. "I didn’t have sex with Olivia, Drake. Not that it’s your business. But to be honest, I thought you told her how you felt. It was a miscommunication. It was my belief that Olivia informed you that she was not interested in being with you. Only then did I pursue her."
Drake nodded. "Okay, so now you know." Liam nodded. "Yes, I am also aware that my feelings toward Olivia have changed...as have the circumstances." He shrugged. "You had ten years, Drake. Ten damn years with Liv. And in that time, you never once expressed being in love with her? You hid your relationship with her, stuck your dick in anything that moved and now suddenly, after you offer her up as my future wife, you decide you’re in love with her?"
Drake spoke through gritted teeth. "That was when we were teenagers, Li. And the only reason I wasn’t open about my relationship with Liv, is because I didn't think we could ever be anything more. It wasn’t for me, it was for her. I didn’t want to ruin her chances to marry well."
"Ah, Drake Walker, ever the martyr." Liam chided. "What the hell does that mean?" Drake growled. "It means, Drake, that you are always so quick to throw yourself under the knife and then expect pity for getting cut." He snapped. "You selfish asshole". Drake growled. "You have never had to sacrifice anything for anyone." Drake leaned in, his eyes narrowed. "The whole fucking world revolves around Liam Rhys, so don’t you even think about lecturing me about sacrifice."
"Of course." Liam spat. "What do I know about obligations and sacrifice when I just had the job of ruling a country and choosing a wife dropped in my lap."
"You weren't complaining about choosing a wife a couple weeks ago. Remember when you went all gaga over Moretti? Suddenly she’s not a factor, Li?" Liam nodded. "Yes, Samantha is absolutely a factor, Drake. An important one at that since you, ever the loyal friend, told her you have feelings for her."
Drake furrowed his brow, "What are you talking about, Li?" Liam stood pacing. "I am talking about Lady Samantha informing me that you expressed feelings for her, Drake. Despite supposedly being in love with Duchess Olivia?" Drake stood. "No Li. I have never told Moretti I have feelings for her. I don’t! She..she's like a kid sister. Nothing more." Liam nodded. "Sure Drake, so she just made that up?" Drake threw his hand out, "I don’t know what goes through her head, Li. But it's not about my feelings for her, what about yours? You've been completely ignoring her. What changed?"
Liam sighed, running his hands through his hair. "Look Drake. Samantha is a lovely girl, but...she's not a queen." Drake huffed. "So, you knew that before, Li." "Yes, I did", Liam explained. "But the circumstances have changed." "What has changed?" Drake challenged, "other than you kissing olivia. Did it really change things that much?" Liam exhaled. "It did change things for me, Drake, yes. But it's not just that." He sat down. "My father, he is ill." "Oh.." Drake’s face fell as he sat. "He doesn’t have much time. That’s why he stepped down. I won’t be ruling with him there to guide me and show me the way. I’m going to be completely alone, Drake. Lady Samantha, she would be a good companion, but taking on the responsibility of ruling a nation? Maybe if I was an experienced ruler or had the support, but I don't think she can handle it, Drake." He shook his head, somber. "It's not just about me. It's about our country. I need a queen that can rule beside me, who can share the burden, be a companion and a lover. For me, that’s Liv."
Drake was staring at the floor, unable to meet Liam’s gaze. "And what about what Liv wants?" Liam sighed. "She’s my suitor, Drake. She entered the social season. I...I am willing to consider the original plan." He shrugged. Drake shook his head. "Fuck you, Li. I get that you’re scared, but you’re not alone. You’ve never been alone. Liv and me and Max, we’ll all still be there to help you. But what you’re doing?" he shook his head. "You don’t care what I want or what Liv wants or Moretti? She’s in love with you, Li. You’re going to break her heart too." "I can not afford to make choices based solely on my heart, Drake. That is the sacrifice I have to make." "No Li. That's a sacrifice you are choosing to make because you’re scared and only thinking about yourself."
Drake opened the door and exited, slamming it behind him. He stormed down the hall and out the doors, wandering over to the orchard. He didn’t understand how they had gotten here. Liam was his best friend. How had they allowed anything to come between them...anyone.
Drake shoved his hand in his pocket, his fingers rubbing on the cold smooth metal of the object. He sighed. "That did not go as planned." Drake pulled a flask from his shirt pocket and took a long swallow. "Shit” he groaned, slumping against a tree. They had really screwed this up. Things were so much easier when Liam was just the spare but now Constantine was dying. Drake put the flask to his lips, tilting it till the liquid poured down his throat. His mind wandered back.
Drake sat in the center of the maze, his shiny black shoes scuffed and muddy from kicking the dirt by his father's grave. He had stayed strong, not crying like Savannah. He was the man of the family now, and his mother and his sister needed to rely on him. Drake sat alone, only now allowing the emotions to rise. He heard him approach but didn't look up. "This seat taken?" Liam questioned as he slid onto the dirt next to Drake. He felt him beside him, but he didn't say a word, just sat with him. Slowly, Olivia and Maxwell joined the pair, sliding down onto the dirt silently.
After a long while Drake looked up, meeting his friends' sad eyes, tears leaking from his own. "Thanks...for being here." Drake croaked. Liam wrapped his arm around Drake. "This, right here. This is our family." Olivia nodded. "Not that I have much to compare it to, but this? It's all I ever need." She smiled sadly. Maxwell nodded. "This is what a real family does. We'll always be here for each other. No matter what."
Drake finished his flask, closing his eyes. He awoke with a jolt a long time later. The sun was just starting to paint the sky and he stood, his muscles tight from the cold of night and sleeping on the ground. He slowly made his way back to the manor and entered, running into Bertrand and Liam upon entering.
"What do you mean she’s gone?" Liam questioned. Drake’s eyebrows raised. "Who's gone?" Liam ran his hand down his face. "Lady Samantha, apparently she left during the night." Bertrand answered. "Moretti? But why?" Liam shrugged. "I...I don't know." Drake exhaled. "Shit." Maxwell ran down the stairs, an envelope in his hand. "I found this in her room. Its addressed to Olivia." "But, why Olivia?" Liam asked, sharing a concerned look with Drake. He shrugged. "Let's find out."
They made their way to Olivia's room, Bertrand knocked urgently. She opened the door, a few minutes later, in her robe. "Wha..what are you all doing here?" She questioned. "Can we come in, Liv? It's about Moretti." She looked surprised, but stepped back allowing them to enter. "I do apologize for waking you, Olivia." Liam offered apologetically. She waved him off. "Its fine. What’s going on?"
Bertrand was frantically pacing. "Lady Samantha is gone! She departed Applewood during the night." Olivia’s eyes widened. "Did you have something to do with this, Duchess?" Bertrand accused. "Lay off, Bertrand" Drake urged. "Liv didn't have anything to do with this." Liam took Olivia hand. "Do you have any idea why she might have left Olivia?" Liam gently questioned.
Olivia sat down on the bed. "I went to her room last night...right after the Jamboree." "I knew it" Bertrand growled. "Did you threaten her?" She snapped her head to him angrily. "No! Jesus Christ, who do you think I am?" She glared at Bertrand. "I offered to help her. I gave her some advice about how to present herself in a more positive light. To show that she can handle the responsibility of being queen." She sighed. "I know how important it is with…" she looked up to Liam "...everything."
Drake turned to Liam. "Liv knows?" Liam nodded. "Yes, although I'm still not sure how?" Olivia rolled her eyes. "Regina told me. She went on and on about the importance of a capable queen." She shrugged. "I thought I could help."
"Is there anything Lady Samantha said to make you believe that she was planning to leave, Olivia?" She shook her head. "No, she thanked me for helping her, she...she said she is in love with you, Liam and that she would do anything it takes to prove herself to you." Liams mouth opened in shock, the words hitting harder than he ever expected.
Olivia exchanged a sad look with Drake. Bertrand stepped forward with the letter handing it to Olivia. "Lady Samantha left this for you." Olivia looked taken aback, but opened the letter reading it over.
"This says...it says that something happened to her. Something she couldn't talk about and that she needs to get out of Cordonia. She asked me to say goodbye." Olivia looked up as Bertrand snatched the letter from her hand, reading it over.
Liam looked crestfallen as he exchanged a worried look with Drake, just as there was a knock at the door. Drake opened it to Bastien. "There you are, your Highness. I am here to inform you that Lady Samantha.." "She's gone. I know." Liam interrupted. Bastien nodded. "Your Highness, that's not all." Liam's head snapped over to him. "So is Lord Tariq."

The Apple Blossom festival began with a bake off with Queen Regina. Prior to the event Regina pulled Olivia aside. “Will you lead one of the baking teams, Dear?” “Of course, Your Majesty.” Olivia curtsied. “Tell me, Duchess Olivia. What do you think of Lady Samantha?” OIivia thought hard, choosing her words carefully. “I believe Liam cares for her. She appears to be friendly overall and bring a fresh perspective to court."
"Hmph”, Regina pursed her lips. “I thought as much. I already know your capabilities Duchess. You have proven yourself a strong and fearless leader in your duchy and you are revered by the public.” “Thank you, ma'am” Olivia offered. “You also have known my son almost his entire life. Where does your relationship with Liam stand?” Olivia sighed. “That is a bit more complicated, I’m afraid.” “Is Drake Walker the one complicating matters?” Olivia hesitated. “There are a great many complications, but he is one, yes."

Olivia sat in her room alone for several days. Drake and Liam had both come by and she refused to speak to either of them. It was only a few days until they left for Applewood, when she heard yet another knock. "Go away" she sighed. "Livvy… are you okay?" She heard Maxwell's soft voice, a small smile tugging on her lips for the first time in days.
She opened the door, seeing his worried face. "Hey Maxwell." He walked in, plopping on her bed, casually. "What's going on, Liv?" He questioned. "Liam and Drake both look like they were on the losing end of a fight. They said it was a sparring match gone wrong, but I don't think anyone buys it. They won't even speak to each other. They just give each other angry looks." He shrugged. "And you, you've been hiding in here. I know something happened, Liv. What's going on?"
Olivia climbed onto the bed, laying next to Maxwell. "Things are a mess, Max." He looked over at her. "This about you and Drake?" Olivia bit her lip, trying to fight back the emotion. "Partly." Maxwell nodded. "Is the other part about you and Liam?" Olivia shrugged. "I thought as much." "You did?" Olivia asked, surprised. He nodded. "Something is different with you two." He shrugged. Olivia shook her head. When would she learn to stop underestimating Maxwell Beaumont? He picked up on more than he ever let on. "That what the fight was about?" Olivia nodded, resting her head on her hand. "It got pretty ugly." Maxwell chuckled. "I could tell."
They laid there in comfortable silence for awhile when Maxwell spoke again. "So, what is it that you want?" He looked over at his friend. "I think…" she exhaled. "I think I want something that will never be possible, Max." He nodded. "So what are you gonna do?" She shrugged. "I don't really know what options I have, Max." He thought for a moment. "Well you either choose to be with one of the guys who love you, that are in front of you. Or you can keep chasing the dream." Olivia thought about that for a long time as she laid there with her friend. It was time to stop chasing a fantasy and to get real about what she wanted. The only problem was, she couldn't be sure who or what that was anymore.
The next morning, Olivia knocked on Liam's door, her arms crossed in front of her. He opened the door tentatively. She held back the gasp at seeing the large bandage over his nose and his blackened eyes, instead pushing past him. “You look like shit.” She snapped walking across his office and claiming her seat at the desk, picking up the trade agreement they had been working on. "Liv", Liam exhaled. "Can we talk about the other night?" Olivia did not look up. "I don’t see why, you asked me to come help you complete this, that is what I am here to do."
Liam exhaled, taking a seat next to her. "Olivia...I want you to know that I was sincere in the feelings I expressed for you." He raised his eyebrows, still staring at her as she kept her gaze trained down at the contract. "I never intended to try to...to...steal you from Drake." "You can't steal something that no one owns, Liam" she huffed, still averting her gaze. "I'm sorry. You're right. I just meant...When you told me that Drake had made his feelings clear to you and that you wanted a different life…" he rubbed the back of his neck. "I assumed that you meant he told you that he is in love with you" Olivia turned her head to Liam. "And that it was not what you wanted. I thought perhaps." He reached over gently picking up her hand. "I thought perhaps you were telling me that you were interested in a life with me." He bit his lip, looking up at her through his long dark lashes. "Maybe it was only a hope, in my mind." He exhaled.
Olivia sat staring at him, unsure of what to say. "This has all gotten so confused, Liv. My feelings for you, Drake's feelings for you, Drake's feelings for Lady Samantha." Olivia felt her breath hitch. "Drake’s feelings for Samantha?" Liam nodded, biting his lip. "Yes, apparently Drake told Lady Samantha that he has feelings for her. I do not believe they are reciprocated, but at this point…" He shrugged. Olivia, felt her heart racing in her chest as she worked to swallow down the emotion rising.
"Can I ask you a question?" Liam asked nervously. “Did you feel anything? When we kissed?” Olivia bit her lip tentatively, then rolled her eyes. “Of course I did Liam, its not…” "Olivia” Liam cut her off smiling. “I know that I messed up." Liam continued on. “I’m not asking you to make a decision now, just...please give me another chance. A chance to explore these feelings between us?” Olivia exhaled thinking, then a small grin tugged at the corner of her mouth. “Fine, but after we finish the contract” she quirked an eyebrow. Liam grinned shyly. "You have a deal Duchess."
Olivia made her way down the hall back to her room. She turned the corner and stopped abruptly spotting Drake sitting on the floor outside her room, his back against the wall and his knees bent, his arms resting on them. She continued on, ignoring him. His head snapped up as she approached, abruptly standing. "Liv.." "What are you doing here, Walker?" She focused on unlocking her door when he turned her, his eyes boring into hers. He placed one strong arm on the wall on each side of her, trapping her between them. He held her gaze for a long time before his eyes flitted down to her lips as they stood, the tension between them building. "Drake...we're in the middle of the hall." "I don't care Liv. No more hiding." He took a shaky breath. "I am in love you, Liv."
Olivia wanted to push him away. She wanted to scream at him. But hearing those words from his lips, that she had longed to hear for so long. She found herself unable to move.
He pressed his lips to hers, claiming her mouth as their tongues rolled together slowly but full of passion and need. He pulled away breathless. "I'm gonna earn it." He pushed himself off the wall with a smirk. "See ya in Applewood" he waved as he sauntered down the hall.
Olivia snapped out of her stupor, clawing desperately for the door handle slamming it behind her. She collapsed against the door, sliding down to the floor. She wanted to say "What about Lady Samantha?" She wanted to say "You're too late". But when he kissed her. She brought her fingers up to her lips, her eyes fluttering shut. It was true that when Liam kissed her, there was a spark. But when Drake kissed her, her body buzzed with electricity, ready to explode. Olivia leaned her head back against the door, staring at the ceiling as a tear leaked from her eye and snaked down her cheek. She both loved and hated Drake Walker.
The next morning as she made her way out to her car to prepare for the trip to Applewood, Liam approached her. "Olivia" he leaned in placing a soft kiss on her cheek. She was distinctly aware of the slight tingle left as he pulled away, that had not been there before. "I was hoping perhaps you would join me for the ride to Applewood? We could further discuss the trade agreement?" She looked curiously at him. "Isn't Drake joining you?" Liam shook his head. "I believe he has found other transportation." Olivia nodded curiously and then followed Liam to the car. He peeked his head in a moment later with a goofy grin. Olivia rolled her eyes chuckling. "Just get in."
"As they started their journey, Liam opened the cooler, pulling out two champagne flutes and a bottle. "Look what I got for us." he showed her the bottle with a wide smile. "Oh my god! Cordonian ruby cider? I haven't had that in years!" Olivia grinned as Liam popped the top. "Do you remember the first time?" Olivia shook her head. "How can I forget? We were what...sixteen?"
"The hunt should be rather exciting this year." Constantine remarked over dinner at Applewood. There was a formal dinner for the families that were participating and Liam, Olivia and Maxwell were stuck beside the other nobles as they droaned on about the hunt. "Well, I have full faith that Bertrand will do quite well this year" Barthelemy clapped his oldest son on the back. "His riding skills are second to none." He beamed, as Bertrand nodded. "And as for the other one, let's just see if he can keep himself on the horse this year."
Maxwell was talking with Lady Stephanie. He had only recently met her but was smitten from the start. Liam and Olivia watched Maxwell visibly wince, hearing his father speak his name. He knew the tyrade was just beginning. "Do you remember the first time he went on the hunt?" Maxwell's face turned red with embarrassment as Liam and Olivia watched on, unable to do anything. "His fat ass couldn't even stay on the horse. Good thing he had so much padding when he fell or he might have really gotten hurt." His father laughed, looking at Bertrand to join in. The elder Beaumont offered a uncomfortable chuckle to appease his father.
"Didn't Maxwell break his arm in that fall?" Liam challenged. "Quite right" Barthelemy agreed. "He couldn't even fall off a horse properly." Barthelemy laughed. Olivia was about to speak when Constantine shot her a warning look. "Liam, Olivia.. why don't you two take Maxwell and check out the horses for tomorrow?" Regina suggested. Liam nodded, grateful, as the trio rose and exited the dining room.
"God your father is a dickhead, Max." Olivia sighed, wrapping her arm around him. "I have an idea. I'll get some drinks and then we can go check on the horses." Liam nodded. "I'll get Drake. They met up on the grounds a short while later. Olivia and Maxwell held three bottles of Cordonian Ruby champagne in their arms. "Where's Drake?" Olivia questioned. Liam shrugged. "He wasn't there. Come on."
They popped the tops, wandering through the orchard and over to the stables. "Why does he have to embarrass me in front of everyone? Even Lady Stephanie heard." Maxwell swallowed a fuzzy gulp of champagne. "Fuck him…" Liam staggered, taking another swig of his half empty bottle. Olivia nodded, draping her arm over Maxwell's shoulders. "Fuck him. He's an asshole and everyone knows it." Max swallowed hard nodding. He rubbed the moisture from his eyes. "Yea, fuck him." He agreed swallowing more champagne.
By the time they made it to the stables, they were all pretty wobbly and giggling furiously. "Shhhh" Liam swayed as he tried to quiet the group. "Do..do you hear that?" They listened, hearing the sound of a woman moan, "yes". They all clapped their hands over their mouth giggling silently. "I bet...I bet it's Leo and Lady Alicia. I saw them sneak off." They nodded in agreement. "Let's go see".
They giggled, as they quietly crept through the barn to the rear stahl. They were leaning up against the door to see over the top, when it flung open, all three tumbling in, laughing.
"What the fuck?" They heard Drake's familiar voice. Olivia's smile fell, as she watched him quickly zip up his pants, the servant girl tugging her dress down, covering her face in embarrassment. Liam laughed uncontrollably. "There you are, Drake." Drake's eyes met Olivia's watery gaze as she turned and ran out of the stables. "Where'd Liv go?" Liam questioned Maxwell, as Drake hung his head. "Fuck"
They weren't an item. They never agreed to be exclusive or even talked about what was happening between them, but it didn't stop the pit in Olivia's stomach that night, or even now as the memory came flooding back.
Liam shook his head smiling. "I will never forget the headache I had that next day on the hunt." Olivia offered a sad smile, looking out the window. "Is something wrong, Liv?" She shook her head. "Nothing. Just tired." He wrapped his arm around her. "It's a long trip, take a nap."
The next thing Olivia knew, she felt fingers gently grazing her hair and then soft lips pressing into her own. She sighed "Drake..." a smile tugging on her lips. She heard him clear his throat, as her eyes flew open, her head popping up from his lap. "Oh. Liam. I'm so sorry...I… " he shook his head. "Its fine, Liv." He smiled, brushing the hair from her face. "But we're here." "Oh" she squinted out the window, feeling the car roll to a stop.
The door opened and she stepped out into the sunlight, stretching. Liam followed her, his hand resting comfortably on her waist just as a limo pulled up. Maxwell hopped out excitedly followed by Bertrand and Lady Samantha. "Morning sleepyhead", they heard Samantha tease, tussling Drakes hair as he stepped out of the limo. "Good afternoon, Lady Samantha.. Drake." Olivia felt Liam tighten his grip on her waist, pulling her closer to him. "Welcome to Applewood."

Ok so I dopped my phone when Drake showed up
And what the hell is Samantha talking about????
Chasing the Moon Chapter 10: What He Needs
Pairing: Drake x Olivia x Liam x Samantha (MC)
Word Count: 1850
Rating: Mature
Summary: Alt TRR Universe of what would happen if Drake and Olivia were involved before the social season.
A/N: I will warn you that I Canon Olivia different than most. I see her hard exterior as a defense mechanism. I think she has a strong inner child that is screaming to be loved. She is fiercely protective of those she loves but also easily wounded due to her abandonment issues. This will be a softer side of our beloved Olivia.
Warning: Language, adult situations, graphic sex acts

I do not usually post this close together, but someone… @ao719…would not leave me alone. So if you didn’t catch yesterdays, here it is.
Chapter 9: What She Gives

Liam looked into her tearfilled eyes, “Olivia…what’s the matter?” Olivia shook her head moving away from Liam, swiping the moisture from her eyes. “I…I don’t know, Liam” She shrugged.. “Is this about Drake?” Olivia exhaled. “Maybe. It’s just, he’s been the only one for so long.” Liam moved over and grasped her hand, guiding her to the couch. Olivia, you’re absolutely correct. Drake has had ten years to do this right with you. I sat by and watched my best friend have every opportunity with the most amazing girl I have ever known”. He met her eyes. “I don’t want to hurt Drake, Liv. That’s the last thing I want, which is why I sat by and watched for so many years, never allowing myself to give into any feelings I may have had. But now..” he shook his head. “We’re not kids anymore, Liv. This is about forever for me. Just like Drake said by the bonfire that night. The night that HE suggested I chose you to be my Queen.” He held his hand against his chest. “This is about so much more than just a childhood crush, Liv. It’s about a partnership. It’s about ruling a country. And it’s about love”.

“Drake?” Liam’s head abruptly turned toward the door hearing Lady Samantha’s voice. He could hear a low whisper of her speaking to someone in the hall, no doubt Drake. Liam turned to Olivia taking in her flushed cheeks as she buried her nose in the contract they were reviewing. Liam’s eyes moved back and forth between the door and Olivia, who was working hard to avoid eye contact with him.

The Guest Ch. 8 “Choices”
A/N: Hey Guys (did you miss me lol) just wanted to post this one really quick before I get back to my hectic life. You guys will get a few quick glimpses of Liam and MC’ s life in the past. Just a reminder Liam wasn’t “Liam” when they met (don’t want to confuse anyone)
Rating: Mature (Course language)
Word Count: 2000
Summary: Candace makes a hasty choice leaving Constantine enough room to make a few for his son

"He's looking at you, again." Samantha quirks up a smile handing Candace another empty salt shaker to fill.
Keeping her eyes focused on the task in front of her, "Maybe he's looking at you Samantha. You're the one gawking at him."
"Nope he's definitely looking at the back of your head like a puppy waiting to be noticed."
Without a thought Candace turns around. And it happened. Just like it had every single time before when their eyes meet, he smiles at her and she foolishly smiles right back.
"Damn it!" She quickly turns away.
"You know what Candace? I'm going to do you a favor. I'm going to set you two up."
"No. I don't even like him." rolling her eyes as she forces herself not to turn around again.
Samantha cocks her head knowingly. "Girl please you and Drake have been eye flirting with each other everyone here thinks so. There's actually a running bet on how long till you two to actually hook up.
"Let me guess. You went for 4 months.
"Ha Ha...actually 5, I'm giving you a little time. But that is not the point. The point is he likes you and from the few months I have known him he's pretty much a saint. I mean the dude can speak different languages. He's got that sexy ass accent not to mention that sexy ass ass--"
"Samantha!"
"I digress. He's also the nicest guy I have ever met. Holds out doors and feeds the homeless, he's kinda like some disguised prince." Samantha's eyes widen as she babbles on "Oh my Gawd! He's like Hakeem from Coming to America!" What if he's some undercover prince searching for his queen...in queens."
"Ha. I'm 1000 percent sure that the bust boy is no Prince of Zamunda, ok."
"Well even if he isn't, he has one thing going for him."
"What's that?"
"He makes you smile."
Candace reluctantly looks back at Drake again. This time she let the bashful smile last a little more than a minute before slowly turning back around.
"Hey Hakeem---I mean Drake!" Samantha calls him over.
Samantha!"
"Girl hush. You know what your problem is you can't make a choice to save your life! You did that with college doing it with this shitty job so just shut up and keep that cute smile on your face while I change your world."
Candace smiled as her mind traveled back to that day. She sat at the breakfast table next to Liam while he looked over paperwork for a meeting later on.
"Hey Liam do you remember Samantha?"
"Hmm... umm the girl from the diner?" Liam doesn't look up from his papers as he speaks, lately this was their only way to communicate.
"Yeah. I totally forgot about this but you know she had you figured out long time ago. She use to joke with me that you were some undercover prince searching for your queen. Just think if she hadn't set us up..."
"Jeeze what in the world were they thinking? A 25 percent bonus for the king's guards and not one dollar added to the scholarship programs!" He draws a large circle on his paper with an aggravated sigh.
"Did you hear a word I said?"
"Hmm... yeah Samantha had a crush on me. Honestly the girl had a crush on everyone."
"No that's not at all---"
"These budgets are totally screwed I have to go rework them before the meeting." He stands from the table "What do you have planned today?" half asking as he began to gather all the papers scattered about.
"Drake is going to teach me horseback riding remember?" A slight smug grew seeing his busy hands slow. It not that she wanted him to be jealous or that she liked this reaction from him, especially since he really hasn't spoken about the kiss, but at least it in that moment she knew she had his full attention.
Liam turned to her with a pained smile. "So out of all the people in this court Drake is the only person that can teach you how to ride?"
"I have to learn before the royal hunt tomorrow. And also you were the one who picked him."
"Yeah that was before you two--"
The room grew silent.
"I thought you were over that. Liam it was just a kiss."
"Yeah...Yeah I know." He takes the rest of the papers before kissing her lightly on the check. "Have a great lesson."
"Ha... please stop! I can't breath!"
"No seriously So here I am trying to help this old lady across the street and she takes my wallet and bolts!"
Candace rolls over with laughter tears forming in her eyes as her date goes on with his story. Her hand grips his thigh as she guffaws. Never on a first date would she ever be this open but as the hours rolled passed and their nerves died away she soon learned that a date with this man would be nothing like she'd had before.
"Oh...I'm so sorry that happened to you" she chuckles "but this is New York, Drake. Home of the pocket picking grannies. We welcome you, our most chevalier and gullible guest with open arms!" She opens her arms dramatically her laughter only growing and suddenly he took her into his own pulling her in tight.
Her laughs stop abruptly.
"Sorry, was that too much? I mean...how could I resist New York's warm embrace. Did I overstep?"
"N-no. It was nice. Really nice." Their eyes catch and like magnets they begin to draw to each other.
"Are you sure?" His words sincere but those eyes told a different story so did his body as he doesn't pull away. "Because I want to ask you a pretty bold question right now."
"Oh...what's that?" she's breathless as his eyes pull her closer. He takes a moment before speaking.
"Can I kiss you Candace?"
With a deep breath her answer became an action as she closes the space between them he kissed her so softly so gentle he touched her as if she was something so precious, it was then and there she knew that this was no longer a date. No, today would be day one of a thousand more days with this man.
Steadying herself as she mounted the large beast, Candace took deep breaths to calm her nerves. But that did little to help her at the sound of the horses flared nostrils.
'"uhh.. nope. I want off.."
"Chill Sutton, Marybelle is the most docile animal you'd ever meet." Drake gives the horse a reassuring rub.
"Maybe..." she squirms as they trot towards an open field " or maybe that's just her cover. And the minute my guard is down this thousand pound creature will buck me straight into the ground."
"Ok drama queen." Drake chuckles, "But you gotta admit this " he spreads his arms wide breathing in the fresh air "this is paradise. No court no press not a single trace of red or blonde headed demons lurking the corner."
"Hmm...none of those are in New York either." it was mumbled to herself but Drake heard it just the same.
"You know, I never cared for all the fancy crap with the royals. I pretty much hung around for Liam and my dad. But it took me growing up here to know that life wasn't for me. How are you so sure it isn't for you? I mean look at what you did for those people--"
"See that's just I didn't do anything! I snitched on a criminal. That doesn't make me a queen. And you know what else? You know what makes that whole thing so damn bad? Is that sometimes I wish I'd never done it. Me and Liam used to be partners and now since that day it's like...like he's dragging me. Maybe I wouldn't feel so negative towards it if I actually had a choice. "
"You know I think you have far more choices than you think you do." their eyes meet for a second "And you know what else?"
"What?"
"You've rode this killer horse all the way through the clearing. Look."
Candace turns around seeing the open field, the palace walls only a blur from the distance.
"See, Candace you're a natural. And I'm not just talking about the horse riding."
"Yeah I guess all those years of avoiding Texas was for nothing."
"Texas? Your from Texas?"
"No, but I have family there. My mom would try to convince me to spend summers down there with my cousins. I always thought nothing at dude ranch could be worth spending my summers over,"
"Wow what a coincidence my...!" Drake chuckles as he feels his phone buzzing from his pocket and pulls it out. "...Hello. Yes this is her son. She what? Does it sound like I've seen her?! It's your job to ---Yes sir I know this is her 3rd time ___ but you all are supposed to----"
The call continues but only for a moment until Drake shoves the phone back in his pocket his jaws clenched between his teeth.
"Lesson's over Sutton I gotta go home."
"What was that all about."
"Nothing."
"Drake."
"It's my mother she's...she's sick. Has been since my father died. Got worse when my sister left. And now she's ran off again. Meaning I will have to go find her clean her up then convince her to go back."
"I can come with you." She didn't even think about her response. The words just flew out.
Drake gazes curiously. "What?"
"You will need help. I mean I don't know your mother's situation but I do know you don't have to deal with it alone. Let me come with you."
"What about Liam? The Royal Hunt?"
"Liam will understand.... He'll have to." she mumbles the last words under her breath as they ride the horses back into the stables.
Holding his new found girlfriend closer to his chest as she sleeps, the cool dark night gave him a sense of confidence he never seemed to have before. He watched her stir in his arms looking so beautiful and safe there the words he had been holding back in saying for months just flew right out.
"I love you Candace." he exhales as if those words were a weight on his back he never really knew was there. One day he would actually tell her when her knew for sure she felt the---
"I love you too."
"What?"
Candace turns over facing him "I said I love you too."
He watched this girl in amazement "You said it so easily..." his voice breaking.
"Loving you is a pretty easy choice to make." She chuckles rolling back onto her side.
That was the memory Liam held onto as he watched Drake's pick up truck drive off with Candace inside.
2 weeks tops.
Yeah two weeks to fuck Drake like she's been dying to do since we got here. The sting on his check was a constant reminder to never speak of such things again much less think them in his head. His mind went back to that night over and over again throughout the day. That night when she said said loving him was the easiest choice, how easily she chose to leave now. She wasn't coming back.
He never noticed the beaming smile on his father's face as he entered the stables alone. Or the overly pleased looks of Olivia and Madeleine as Liam dodged the constant questions the press asked about Candace.
No, in his mind he was still in that warm bed with her listening to the New York sounds. Nothing brought him out of it until his father spoke her name.
"Press, we all love Candace she was an amazing companion for my son and treated our country with the upmost respect. But like all guest they must leave at some point. She knows Cordonia will always welcome her back whenever she feels the need to visit again. But as of today I am very sure that our lady's of Cordonia are very capable of cheering up our future king. " Constantine chuckles lightly giving the giddy noble ladies a quick wink. "Forgive me for being so bold but I believe today we have found a new meaning for the Royal Hunt."

I wanted to give you a scene where it could easily fit either of them. Yes I have more funny cute stuff for Drake and Riley (they'll be the only ones happy for a while) I appreciate your support 😘😘😘😘

The King's shoes made a noticeable echo with each step he took deeper into the depths of the palace dungeon. Every guard bowed every staff member humbly acknowledging his presence.
"Your Majesty." They say. The king doesn't respond his mind in shambled circles. It was almost comedic to him to be finally killing the traitor who attempted to end his life and yet it was the one person he would have given his life for.
The king freezes. There she was her long red hair covering her head completely. Her dress tattered, her head bowed. From this angle she looked weak but he knew far too well she had all power over him. He opened his mouth to speak, to gain her attention, to demand she stand to her feet and explain how could she do this to him. That last thought made his voice squeak and silenced him.
"Cat got your tongue, Your Majesty?" Her voice voice so calm and unnerved as if she wasn't about to die in a matter of minutes.
"I...I came to see if you wanted explain yourself. How could one of my highest ranking royals commit treason against their king. Why...why in God's name are a you laughing?! Are you mad woman? I am about to have you hanged and you laugh!"
Her chuckles grow even louder and it only fuels his anger even more. The King without a second thought opens the doors to the cell, takes his attacker into his arms and kisses her forcefully. The kiss softens and becomes gentle, almost as if an apology. And it was then, once they parted that her hard exterior faded. he could see the fear in her face he could finally see the girl he has loved since childhood, the woman he has secretly loved up until this day, and the ghost of the woman he would love till the day he himself died.
"Why did you do it?!" The king cries clutching her so tightly in his arms not caring that his guards were watching, his voice cracks as he sobs the words. His tears streaming down his face damping her red hair. She backs away from him, quickly wiping away her own tears.
"I think you know why. I think you have known why all along.
Liam's knee bobbed uncontrollably underneath the embellished table. Olivia's winter ball was splendid. The first day went off with out a hitch and he watched her host the nights festivities like a true royal. Any other time he would be proud of her, but tonight he was confused and angry and hurt. The cadence for the Cordonian Waltz began and as he expected, Olivia stood before him, beautiful and now knowing what he knew, dangerous.
"Liam, may I have this dance?"
Liam held her tighter than he knew he should have, trying his best not to look at her not to even breathe in her scent. It would weaken him and he knew that.
"You look well Liam. How have you been?"
"Hmm... I've been excellent. You know I just wanted to thank you for everything you've done after my father's death."
" You don't have to thank me." She smiles softly at him and he sucks in a breath.
"No you pretty much ran the entire court while I mourned my father. I mean how does one get a whole building of people to keep quiet on a former king's electrocution?"
"Just took a little assertiveness...and a firm clutch on things I guess." Olivia could feel his nails digging into her waist but tried to ignore the discomfort.
"Yeah but why? Why hide that? What did you hope to gain from covering my father's murder?" It was then Olivia finally saw the anger leering from his eyes.
"I did that for you Liam." She tries to keep her voice low as they both continue to spin apart then quickly back together across the dance floor keeping up with their best smile. "Do you want the government involved in this? We have been our own independent country for centuries but if they get a whiff of a monarch being killed it would be the end to Cordonia's monarchy for sure."
"Of course you are worried about the monarchy."
"If you have something to accuse me of, don't be shy come out with it."
Liam stops dancing and so does Olivia they stand neither taking their eyes off each other, neither noticing the music continues without them.
"I need to know where you were the night of the Homecoming Ball. You lied before. And Olivia, as your King I warn you not to do it again."
"Liam?" She felt his hand clutching her arm. He leaned in closer speaking into her ear.
"If you're going to try to kill me again just do it. Right here! Let everyone see you betray me."
"Again? You've gone mad!" She yanks her arm free and backs away. A new song begins to play and the guest all gather the dance floor creating more space between the two.
"You don't think I know about your little accomplice? I know he's here I know he's working for you Liv. When Bastien finds him I ---I will kill you if I have to Liv."
Her eyes widen at his threat. "You are just like your father!" She spats.
"Yeah I may be. But are you just like your mother?"
"Hey you two!" Riley steps between them smiling brightly holding her barley noticeable belly. "Drake finally let us out. I guess he felt Lythikos was the only safe place in Cordonia!" She chuckles but it soon dies once she realizes she the only one. Olivia and Liam were still staring daggers at each other. "Olivia can I speak with you for a moment. I'm um...having an issue with our room." pulling her away, motioning for Drake to handle Liam.
"What is it Riley? What's so dauntingly wrong with your room?"
"Oh nothing I just saw World War 3 starting on the dance floor and thought it would be best to put some distance between you too. Olivia what is going on? I expected you two to be all over each other by now- I mean in an entirely different way than scowling at each other."
"Constantine's death changed Liam, I don't know. Don't ask me to explain the twisted workings of that man's mind. I mean honestly I think the man has lost his mind he actually thinks I--- I'm going to get some air."
She leaves her concerned friend heading away from the party, not slowing her pace until she couldn't hear the music anymore. It was silent. Dead silent. Olivia found herself in an open balcony letting the crisp air chill her. She took several breathes barley hearing the faint sounds of footsteps approaching with her with Liam's words ringing in her ears.
"You don't think I know about your little accomplice? I know he's here I know he's working for you Liv. When Bastien finds him I ---I will kill you if I have to Liv... But are you just like your mother?" .
She prayed it was Liam, or Riley behind her, but with the sound of the door locking she shuddered in the quick understanding that it wasn't. Instead of screaming in fear instead of turning around to face him, Olivia decided to watch her mountain tops.
"How long?" How long have you been here?"
Mick walks as close to her as he pleased pressing his nose so deep in her hair breathing her in.
"I've been waiting on you for months. I was so patient with you Red! But now..." His hands grip her shoulders.
Olivia took another breath. She needed to calm herself. She let him breath in her hair one final time before leaning her head forward then rapidly swinging it back striking Mick square in the nose. He howls staggering backwards giving Olivia just enough space to run the door. In seconds she undoes the lock swinging it open before it's forcefully slammed back shut a strong grip onto her arm tossing her to the ground.
"See. This is why I came back for you Red! You haven't learned shit. Somebody has to teach you!"
Mick wastes no time in undoing his belt buckle a smirk on his face before kneeling down with the duchess laying his whole body on top of her his hips pinning her to the ground. The sounds of her grunting against him only exciting him more.
"So much fire in such a tiny body." His teeth clenches between the flesh of her neck biting down hard, as if she were meat.
Olivia waited for her moment, thrusting her knee between his legs pushing him off of her as he cries out in pain. She runs towards the door again. But as she opens it she stops.
A thought creeps into her mind. A strange and devilish thought that turns her on her heels closing the door yet again.
"Mick." She walks back over to his hunched over body. "I don't think we have been properly introduced." She throws a quick kick to his side hard enough for him to plummet onto his stomach.
"I am Olivia Nevarkis!" She moves towards his head "Dutchess of Lythikos." spiking it causing him to spin over to his back blood pouring from his forehead. "My blood is savage! My blood is fire!" Olivia places her heel deep within his neck smirking at the gurgling noises beneath her. "My blood is ice! And you sir could NEVER break me."
Olivia drives her shoe in deeper not even noticing her balance faltering until Mick has her free foot in his grip tossing her onto the ground beside him.
He stands to his feet not wasting a second to grab the duchess pinning her to the wall clutching her red locks and throwing the back of her head into the concrete wall. His eyes are bloodshot as he flings her body across the room. Paintings and vases all crash to the ground with her. Mick marches over picking her up one final time holding her against the wall with his hips. Both hands clasped around her neck.
"I guess we have a change of plans." He tightens his grip as Olivia squirms to breath "First I will kill you. Then I will...well you can guess that one." He smirks.
Fire is rising from Olivia's chest. Time is running out and she knows it. Just within reach is a candlestick holder. She stretches her arm out her fingertips barley graze the fixture. She reaches more...more ...just a little....But time is out and the room grows dark, her arm drops. Her eyelids grow heavy, her last image is Mick's greedy eyes before there's nothing left but the sound of crashed glass somewhere far away.
Breath.
The first freeing breath Olivia took was not only healing but painful. Her body hit the ground with a thud. But hers wasn't remotely the loudest. Like a dream there was Mick lying motionless on the ground next to her, pieces of glass scattered around his head.
"Olivia are you ok?!" Riley throws down the remaining glass vase to help her friend up. "I came to check on you and I heard all this commotion. We need to call the guards before the attacker comes to."
"No! No...he's no attacker. Just a....a drunken employee of mine. He wasn't too happy about being fired tonight."
Riley looked over the Duchess questioningly.
"Look, Riley thank you. You seriously just saved me but please don't tell anyone about this. I will handle him ok?"
Riley didn't have a moment to argue as Olivia scooted her out the room and the door slammed behind her.
Riley couldn't shake what she had just witnessed. She went back to the party and the second she saw Liam sitting in a dark corner of the ballroom, with Bastien beside him she hurried right over.
"Liam I need to talk to you. Something is going on with Olivia. You need t--"
"Riley I am fully aware of what's going on with Olivia and once we find her accomplice my guards will be apprehending the both of them."
"Apprehend? You're gong to arrest Olivia? For what?"
"She's the person that has been set out to kill me from the very start! I didn't want to believe it but...it's all adding up now. It's been her all along. History just has a way of repeating itself doesn't it?" Liam laughs dryly as his gulps down the rest of his drink. I used to think my father was the cold one but he has nothing on a Nevarkis."
A tiny drip onto Mick's forehead woke him, attempting to rise but his arms and legs are bound by restraints.
"Fuck! Should have killed that bitch weeks ago." he mutters struggling to pull himself free.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you. " Olivia's voice echos throughout the dark room. "My great great great grandmother invented those cuffs. They are designed to tighten as the prisoner moves. Her idea of training them to remain still."
Olivia lights a kerosene lamp giving the room a little more light. With it Mike can now see the shine of the blade in The Duchess' hand and he smirks.
"Red stop it. You know damn well you have no idea what to do with a knife. Now put that thing away before you hurt yours---" Olivia flings the knife and it lands mere inches from Mick's head.
"Oh Mick...poor poor Mick." Olivia steps closer to the slab removing the knife tracing Mick's body with the tip of the blade, a maddening look in her eyes. "Dear, the only person getting hurt tonight is you."
