WEEK 17: FINAL HURRAAHH (PIT PRESENTATION)
This week marks the seventeenth week of our course, Software Design and Engineering (CPE312), under Engr. Carl Angelo P. Suasola. In this week, we are set to finalize, as in really finalize the system/app we have developed as our PIT requirement for this course. The preparation we've made consists of us conducting the final touches of the app, final testing for our app like the performance, white and black box testing, and system testing.
On Tuesday of this week, we have made our final consultation for this course, we let our instructor see and check the revisions we have made from the last week's consultation. After the said consultation, it is discovered that we need more refinements and revisions on the Chapter 4 and 5 of the manuscript, and the 'admin' and 'revenue' functionality of our application. It is also this day that I am beyond thankful to Engr. Suasola, since he have exempt all of us under this course.
After that, we have then made our best in terms of finishing what needs to be finished in our paper. Like performing all lacking testing and make appropriate updates in the paper, video and user manual to be submitted also. After all that, Saturday then came. Which is the set schedule for our team to submit and present the final application and manuscript for this course. Upon entering the room where we will be presenting, the nerves we've felt in our team was really evident, but nonetheless, the presentation have gone really well.
This course have been such a great experience, especially for me. This have made me realize and do things I never would have thought of doing. This have also been made possible with the guidance of our instructor, Engr. Carl Angelo P. Suasola, and of course, the people who have been my 'kasangga' for this. This have been really challenging for us, but managed to finish it because of the determination of this team.
Beyond grateful for everything.

This week marks the sixteenth week of our course, Software Design and Engineering (CPE312), under Engr. Carl Angelo P. Suasola. In this week, we are focused on preparing for the quiz that'll be given regarding the two topics discussed in the previous weeks. After the preparation, the quiz then started. As the quiz was starting, one can really sense the nervousness of the students since it is considered as the last quiz for this course.
The quiz would really require one's understanding and comprehension, especially about the topics discussed. After the quiz, our instructor then acknowledged that this is the last quiz, and speak out about his appreciation or like a 'thank you' message for the whole class.
The class then ended with an announcement and a reminder regarding the Final PIT that each team would then present in the chosen date.
Tumblr media
On Thursday, our team then are set to finalize the needed requirements for the PIT since we would then present the works we've accumulated the past weeks. The consultation session have then gone smoothly, we've acquired different additional information regarding the finalization of our system.
Indeed, this week have been quite overwhelming, but still fighting!

WEEK 15: A WEEK FOR FINALIZATION
Tumblr media
This week marks the fifteenth week of our course, Software Design and Engineering (CPE312), under Engr. Carl Angelo P. Suasola. We have started our week under this course with a discussion regarding the Topic 8 which is all about the definition of Data Mining, its importance, how it works, different classifications and patterns. This topic is important since it allow students to have an idea of the different information, rules or protocols with regards to software applications. This also have great relevance to the project we are developing.
The topic was delivered and discussed with great knowledge and wisdom, given that the information given was usually based by experience by our instructor. So, the knowledge gained during this meeting was really helpful.
Tumblr media

WEEK 14: A WEEK TO FOCUS ON THE PROGRESS
This week, which is our fourteenth week in the course titled Software Design and Engineering (CPE312) under Engr. Carl Angelo P. Suasola, has been quite overwhelming. This week have been used by the students to finish some tasks given and to prepare for the quiz for the two topics already discussed.
As a test to see if the students have really understood and comprehended well the lessons in the past few weeks, a quiz was then given in this meeting.
As the quiz was starting, one can really feel that the students were nervous because of the expressions and small movements that were made upon starting the quiz.
As the quiz started, the whole class was really focused and really aiming to get the correct answers and compose correct sentences or phrases since mostly of the part of the quiz would require at least few sentences for it to be answered. The format of the quiz this time was quite new, in a way that it is more like practical questions or like application of the lessons taught, and really allow you to think beyond.
Personally, the quiz was quite difficult for me since every time a question popped in the screen, my mind would go blank but still hopeful that the answers I've been able to put in the paper were correct. Thus, understanding and really comprehending well the content of the lessons given is really a must to make sure that it can be applied if one will be given instances to apply it.
All in all, this week have been a way to focus on the progress of each project given.

WEEK 10: PIT PRESENTATION, HERE WE GOO!
Tumblr media
This week, which is our tenth week in the course titled Software Design and Engineering (CPE312) under Engr. Carl Angelo P. Suasola, have been a progressive, busy but interesting week. We have started our week under this course with full focus on developing or continuing the development when it comes to the app/system we are developing. This time, we are given the chance and full instruction on what to expect and what to do on the exact time of presentation.
On the time itself of presenting our app, it is quite nerve-wracking when the app was tested since there is a chance that the app may not work as expected, but luckily some expected functions of the app were shown or have been presented, there are just some features that needs to be changed.
On the Friday of the same week, we are then given the chance to change or put the lacking features of our app, and have also checked some parts of the manuscript that we didn't got the chance to be checked on the past few weeks.
All in all, this week have been pretty hectic honestly, but it is full of learning and have really applied the learnings we've gained from the past few weeks.

WEEK 9: MIDTERM EXAAAM , HERE WE GOOO!
Tumblr media
Screen grabbed from Mr. Okit
This week marks the ninth week of our course, Software Design and Engineering (CPE312), under Engr. Carl Angelo P. Suasola. This week's focus was all about the midterm exam for this course, and also continuation of the development of our project.
All throughout this week and the past week, we've been given the chance to prepare - study, develop and test things that should be done. Our exam schedule for that day was actually tight, we only got like a few hours of break from our last scheduled exam, so it is important to really have reviewed the lessons thoroughly so that you can just scan few things like a few minutes before the exam proper. By the time we entered the room, we are actually quite startled since all of our classmates were seated in their assigned seat and thought that the exam have had started, but thankfully the proctor assigned to us just started assigning the seats and exam papers and giving instructions to the students. The exam proper went smoothly, the exam covered all the things we've learned and have been discussed by our instructor. It really tests how well a student understood, applied and displayed the knowledge gained from all the discussions in the previous weeks.
After all the exam, it is then time to continue on the development and checking of progress for the system/app we are developing. Our team have then managed to put up some progress for the final presentation of the app for this semester.
All in all, this week have been pretty intense to be honest. But it became just bearable because of the peers I've been surrounded with, and instructors that have guided us all the way.

WEEK 8: PREPARATION WEEK!
This week marks the eighth week of our course, Software Design and Engineering (CPE312), under Engr. Carl Angelo P. Suasola. Although we didn’t have a formal class session, the time was well-spent as we were given the opportunity to focus on completing our project and preparing for next week's exam by reading the instructional material given for the new topic that will be included in the said exam. The topic 4 was also given and discussed during this time.
Our instructor allowed us this time to make progress on our respective manuscripts and projects, to ensure that the expected 70% completion for our system will be accomplished during checking.
Aside from working on the project, the break from regular classes gave us the chance to study and review the lessons from the past weeks. This is especially helpful as the midterm exam next week will cover all the topics discussed so far, this will test both our understanding and our ability to apply the concepts to real-world scenarios.
Overall, though we didn’t have a formal class meeting this week, it was productive. We used the time to advance our projects, make changes and updates regarding it and review for the upcoming midterm exam, making sure we're prepared both academically and practically.

WEEK 7 : QUIZZ 2 TIMEEE!!
Tumblr media
Image Source: Czareign Mae Q. Balucos
This week, which is our seventh week in the course titled Software Design and Engineering (CPE312) under Engr. Carl Angelo P. Suasola, has been quite overwhelming. Despite this, we've managed to use our time effectively by engaging in workloads that would allow us to learn and grow as a student.
This week was designated for our Quiz 2 (Part 1 and 2), which was given by our instructor. The quiz was designed to evaluate how well we've understood the course material and to encourage us to really dive deeper into the course itself.
Upon entering the room, one can sense that students were really up for this quiz. Once the instructor started the quiz, you could feel that everyone was completely focused. The quiz had two parts: part 1 was an online quiz, and part 2 was further divided into multiple sections, same as what we've been given or instructed last quiz time. Personally, as this was the second quiz, so the pattern or how the quiz was given was already familar and I kind of adjusted to it. This quiz really made us think hard and apply the concepts we had learned across all the topics discussed. As the quiz finishes, the students were then quick to submit papers and checking and comparing answers if one got the same answer or if their answers were correct, while some documented the quiz for the blog, or approached the instructor to check if their answers were correct.
Tumblr media
Overall, this second face-to-face quiz experience was still challenging but allowed me to really apply what I've learned and focus on what I've learned from the discussions by our instructor and instructional materials given.
The first part of the quiz, which was scheduled to open on October 5 via USTEP, was a hard experience in a way that it is hard for me to answer the questions since the site won't stop showing errors or would crash from time to time, which would result of me not finishing all the questions while the time is already over, which have made me gain only small score of the quiz. Though, it's no one's fault because the site would just crash on its own, but it is still frustrating.
In conclusion, this week was designed to test our understanding of the course material and from the discussions for the previous weeks. Here's to gaining more knowledge in the weeks ahead!

This week, which is our sixth week in the course titled Software Design and Engineering (CPE312) under Engr. Carl Angelo P. Suasola, have been a progressive, busy but interesting week. We have started our week under this course with a discussion regarding the Topic 3 of this course which was all about the software testing, different testing techniques, test automation, and John Brooke's method of user acceptance.
This discussion really is informative in a way that it gave me new knowledge especially about the user acceptance part since it highlights the method of John Brooke which was quite interesting and new from what I'm used to. This discussion also highlights different testing which we can utilize especially with the system that we are implementing now. This acts as a guide to us. In this meeting, it is also announced that we should really focus and give much attention into developing our system because it would be checked not far ahead from now. This made us feel like we should really put our all into these upcoming days and weeks especially since midterm week is coming near.
Tumblr media
After the discussion, we are then grouped into 6 for an activity. Our activity for this week was done to ensure that we have enough knowledge and understanding of the topics discussed in the meeting. In this activity, we are tasked to analyze the interfaces shown in the screen and find out the wrong things made in it and fix it by making a new and correct interface out of it. The last slide of the activity was all about the John Brooke's technique, like how to get the correct SUS score. This activity really gave us a chance to apply what we've learned throughout the whole discussion.
All in all, this week's meeting was informative and I am really starting to feel the pressure of making the system.
Preparing myself for next week's experience.

Week 5
This week, which is our fifth week in the course titled Software Design and Engineering (CPE312) under Engr. Carl Angelo P. Suasola, has been quite overwhelming. Despite this, we've managed to use our time effectively by engaging in activities that benefit us as students.
This week was designated for our quiz, which was given by our instructor. The quiz was designed to evaluate how well we've understood the course material and to encourage us to explore the subject in greater depth.
When we entered the room, it was obvious that we were nervous, chatting anxiously about the quiz topics. Once the instructor started the quiz, you could feel that everyone was completely focused. The quiz had two parts: part 1 was an online quiz, and part 2 was further divided into multiple sections. Personally, the type of quiz our instructor gave us was quite new to me, as it wasn’t the usual format I was used to. This quiz really made us think hard and apply the concepts we had learned across all the topics discussed. As the quiz time came to an end, the atmosphere became less tense. Some students started submitting their papers, while others compared answers, documented the quiz for the blog, or approached the instructor to check if their answers were correct.

Overall, this face-to-face quiz experience was overwhelming for me, but it challenged me to apply the concepts I’ve learned throughout the course.
The first part of the quiz, which was scheduled to open on September 12 via USTEP, gave us 30 minutes to complete. Personally, my experience with this quiz was smooth, and I managed to finish within the allotted time.
In conclusion, this week was designed to test our understanding of the course material. Here's to gaining more knowledge in the weeks ahead!

Elevating Our Learning: Reflections on Week 4 Progress
Week 4
Tumblr media
This week, which is our fourth week in the course titled Software Design and Engineering (CPE312) under Engr. Carl Angelo P. Suasola, have been a progressive, busy but fun week. We have started our week under this course with a discussion regarding the Topic 2 of this course which was all about Software Design - its methodologies, principles , patterns and many more. But before the proper discussion starts, how can a meeting ever be complete without playing mind twitching rebus puzzle? This game would always awaken the competitiveness and show how witty each student is.
After that little fun start, we then head off to tackle deeply about the topic discussed. Even though this topic was quite long, it still remained interesting and engaging the whole time because of how Engr. Suasola would always make sure that each student can really enjoy and appreciate the whole discussion by speaking factual information enthusiastically. The whole discussion was really informative and personally gained some interesting information regarding it.
Tumblr media
After the main discussion, we were grouped again to participate in a group activity designed to test how well we had understood the topic. The activity began with a group discussion of the scenario provided by the instructor, after which we were given time to create a presentation. This included the GUI, answers to the guide questions, and even a pseudo-code. Once again, I was part of Group 4, and we were assigned Scenario 4: E-learning Platform. A fun twist in this activity was when some members of each group were given the opportunity to observe other groups, noting what they did well, what was lacking, and what could be improved.
The most exciting part of the activity came after each group’s presentation, where the other teams could provide feedback on the opposing team's output while defending their own work. This part of the activity was particularly enjoyable, as it highlighted how quickly each student’s mind worked and demonstrated how well they had understood the topic. Overall, the meeting was engaging, informative, and fun.
Then, on September 6th, it was time to show Engr. Suasola our group's progress regarding the revisions from the previous week. This weekly progress check helps keep each group productive and motivated to complete the activities for each week.
And that wraps up this week’s events!
What’s Next? Preparing for Week 5 After a Productive Week 4.
Thank you!!

Third Week Feels: An Activity-Making Week
Week 3
This week, which is our third week in the course titled Software Design and Engineering (CPE312) under Engr. Carl Angelo P. Suasola, we were unable to meet personally with our instructor. The holiday was extended due to the national holiday and city activities, where the Higalaay Festival was celebrated. Additionally, the other schedule we had for this week was designated for an online activity.
Tumblr media
As a result, we were tasked with completing Activity 1 for our project manuscript, which focuses on the "Implementation" section. This provided an opportunity for us to meet with our group members to discuss the manuscript, complete what we could, and work on the revisions that were identified during last week's consultation.
Tumblr media
In addition to the group activity posted on USTEP regarding the manuscript, we were also able to review our knowledge of Topic 1. Our instructor posted a recorded lecture video on the topic, giving us a chance to clarify concepts or terms related to it.
Not a typical week but still very productive and knowledgeable.

Second Week Feels: An Exciting Week
Tumblr media
Image Source: Czareign Mae Q. Balucos
Week 2, here we go!
On August 20th, the second meeting for the course entitled Software Design and Engineering (CPE312) under Engr. Carl Angelo P. Suasola took place. In this meeting, we kicked things off with a fun and interactive activity called a rebus puzzle. This is a mind game that challenges the brain to think beyond what is initially shown in an image. I personally enjoyed it since I often see this game but hadn't had the chance to participate in one before.
After that, our instructor began discussing Topic 1 for the course, where he excellently explained the definition and importance of software engineering, the different principles and skills needed for it, and expanded on the types of applications and the importance of using software development tools, among other things. This helped us gain more knowledge and broadened our understanding of the terms and definitions discussed during the meeting. It was also helpful that the topic was explained with enthusiasm.
Tumblr media
Image Source: Engr. Carl Angelo P. Suasola
After the discussion, we were then divided into four groups to participate in a group activity that would showcase how well we understood the topic that had just been discussed. I was placed in the fourth group, and the title of the topic we received was "Galaxy Mining Company Ltd." We were given a few minutes to read and thoroughly comprehend the topic and then create a presentation highlighting the background of the company, its objectives, requirements, services offered by the system, challenges faced, and to identify the software engineering principles and practices demonstrated in the passage, which related to what was discussed. We then had to provide a solution and conclusion. After the allotted time was over, our instructor selected one member from each group to present the presentation and demonstrate how well each student understood the topics.
The remaining schedule for this week under this course was allotted for students to finish the tasks given this week.
Indeed, it was an exciting and energetic week!

kaMUSTahan: A Course and Self-Introduction
Tumblr media
Image Source: Engr. Carl Angelo P. Suasola
WEEK 1
To kick off this exciting semester, a MUST-have kaMUSTahan took place. On the 13th of August, as part of the overall introduction and orientation of the course entitled Software Design and Engineering (CPE312), the instructor under this program which is Engr. Carl Angelo P. Suasola, began introducing and sharing information that allowed the students to appreciate and be inspired by these necessary details. Each student was then given the chance to introduce themselves by sharing their name, place of residence, and favorite song. Engaging in this activity not only allowed the students to be known by their classmates and instructor, but it also provided an excellent way for the instructor to help the students become more comfortable and confidently engage with the whole class, which will be really helpful in the long run.
After this, the course orientation followed, which provided an overview of what the course is really about. This included descriptions of the course, the necessary qualities required, and a breakdown of the exact activities or topics to be discussed each week, which should be followed throughout the semester. This was an essential part of the first meeting as it gave students a heads-up and a chance to grasp the entirety of the course, while also allowing them to understand the main essence of this specific course.
To conclude the meeting, since the students were now aware of the course's content and what was expected of them, they were asked to sign their names, acknowledging the information and details provided. While waiting for everyone to finish signing, a chance was given to ask any questions or clarifications about the course. One thing I really liked about this meeting was the brilliant use of song lyrics, specifically OPM songs, throughout the presentation by the instructor. This was a fun way to engage the students and ensure they had fun while listening and learning.
Of course, the meeting wouldn't have been complete without the necessary class documentation.
Tumblr media

Then, on the 16th of August, we were given the chance to present the project we initially created last semester. Through this activity, we were able to gather feedback and corrections that will be helpful in completing the entire project with the guidance of our instructor. This activity concluded the first week's experience for this semester in this course.
