Results of my pit firing. Quite pleased with the results. Some I may refire and I think I will highlight the text with acrylic paint to make it more legible. All will need to be sealed. I am using a new product liquid quartz. It's a pretty amazing product that will seal the surface making it food safe and water proof. Without altering the surface appearance. Working on a new bowl keans midfire porcelain. With blue and Dundundra falls terasigillata over leaves. Check out the size of those acacia wattle leaves. Never seen them so big. I think it is because it was growing almost in the water fall? Finally added the driftwood handle from Fingal beach. To my Nelson Bay sunrise teapot. Quite happy with it but lost alot of details in the firing. Might try some earthenware just for decoration. So happy to be back at work for another term. A lovely new group of people. Two husband and wives, Two friends. A mum and daughter. Love that. That's how I started ceramics. Went to pack the last glaze firing for the year. Spent two hours packing it. To have it literally go bang flash! just after struggling to turn it on. So then I had to unpack it all and repack the other bigger kiln thanks to mudlarks group letting me use there booked kiln. It was probably a bit hotter than cone 6 but I am so happy for my students work as well as mudlarks amazing work.
