We’re at Kidderminster Medical centre today (2nd May) as part of an initiative called Social Prescribing - giving patients the opportunity to explore services that help improve their physical and mental wellbeing. Courses like Moodmaster that help build mental health resilience or our Over 50s Megamover exercise groups are helping tackle type 2 diabetes.
These are having massive benefits by relieving pressure on the NHS.

2017 has been another exciting year for Simply Limitless. We have continued with the Reconnections programme, helping lonely older people to reconnect with their local community, in addition we have started new initiatives including the Optimistic Ageing Project with help from Lloyds Bank Foundation, developed a new Community Garden with support from Greggs Foundation and continue to support people of all ages through our weekly groups and activities.
We want to conclude the year by saying a big thank you to every person and organisation that has and continues to support Simply Limitless.  Merry Christmas!

1 in 4 affected by stress, anxiety or low mood.
Each year 1 in 4 of us experience problems such as stress, anxiety and low mood.
Tumblr media
Moodmaster is a great course that we run twice a week. It helps attendees find ways to deal with the problems, big and small, that life throws at us and help improve overall quality of life. The moodmaster sessions focus on a different topic each week, providing simple coping skills that can easily be put into practise.
Participants have loved the simple and effective topics including  sleep, worry, relaxation, dealing with stress, problem solving and friendships.

Thank you Shire Ground Maintenance!
Over the summer period there were some very severe storms that caused a lot of damage, thankfully Shire Ground Maintenance stepped in and saved the day!
Over hanging Puxton Lane, the 1 and only access to and from our centre, were a number of large trees that had become dangerous due to the high winds and had even caused signficant damage to a number of cars.
Seeing our predicament and being a great bunch of guys Shrie Ground Maintenance stepped in and saved the day!  We cannot thank them enough for a fantastic and professional job!

Our New Community Garden
We are thrilled to show off our nearly completed walled garden!
Tumblr media
Funded by The Greggs Foundation, our beautiful walled garden is bringing back to life another part of Kidderminster heritage within the grounds of the Carpets of Worth site at Puxton Lane, Kidderminster.  What was an overgrown and abandoned space is now ready to receive a new start!

The above image shows the garden before we had cleared the space

The garden will be a great resource to compliment the activities of the Simply Limitless Wellbeing Centre which operates a resource for the local community, providing a range of groups and activities for people of all ages, and is also the delivery partner for the pioneering Reconnections programme, helping to alleviate loneliness and isolation.
The garden will be used for those people in the Reconnections programme and others as a social and creative space for the growing of fruit, vegetables and other plants.
Are you a budding gardener, maybe recently retired or looking for a new project? if you have a few hours a week to spare, have some knowledge of plants and gardening where you can help to steer the direction of the gardening group, including maintaining the garden and supporting people to access it please contact Simply Limitless and speak to our volunteer coordinator, Laura.

The garden project is coming along nicely with the area now cleared, footpaths starting to be laid and planters now being built. The plan is to use the space for our older people and also during our forest school activities. Hopefully come the summer we wil have some lovely fresh fruit and veg available to use in our cafe!

We need you!
We are looking for volunteer mini-bus drivers to help us on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week. This would involve picking up and dropping off people from their homes to our centre. We are looking for people who have a friendly nature, and show care in helping older people. In addition you would need to have a clean driving license and would need to be able to help people on and off the minibus. If you think you can help us, even if its for just 1 day per week, or know someone who can please get in touch!

Great benefits to exercise for under 5′s
We like to keep updated on research to back up why we provide activities such as Jungle Gym, so here are a few benefits of exercise in under 5’s;
Tumblr media
Just 60 minutes of physical activity has been associated with improved bone properties, aerobic fitness and motor skills in young children.
We interviewed a father who’s little boy Charlie has just started nursery but has been coming to our Family Activity Sessions and Jungle Gym since he was 6 months old, this is what he has to say.
Tumblr media
How has being part of our activities benefited Charlie? Being part of the centre has been invaluable to both myself and Charlie. Charlie has really enjoyed joining in with the singing, Mega Todds and Jungle Gym. It's fantastic to go somewhere that is non-judgmental and friendly.
Did you feel as parents that you have helped him to become ready for school? We like to think that by bringing Charlie regularly has helped him to develop friendships and meet people from different backgrounds and with different abilities, whilst also learning through exercise and imaginative play. It has really helped us to keep a routine too.
What positive changes or developments have you experienced with Charlie during your time attending the centre? We have gone through many changes during our time at Simply Limitless, sleep was quite a big problem for us but recently, having taken advice from staff at the centre, this seems to have stopped and we felt as parents supported throughout it, it really helped to talk. Charlie's confidence has grown week by week as has his speech, at first we were concerned about his speech development but he has become very capable in that area and has started his school life as a very happy contented little boy, we are very grateful to Simply Limitless for their input.
Jungle Gym runs every week on a Wednesday at 10am and our Family Activiy Session, which includes our fab MegaTods sessions are on each Monday and Thursday from 9.30am.
