( pg.56 )

Analysis :  I choose this quote because I love the way Scout describes Miss Maudie . This is quote is important to the reader because Scout describes Miss Maudie as a widow with a talent of gardening and cake baking skills. This is telling us how Miss Maudie is , her personality , her outlook . Miss Maudie is not the average Maycomb women , she is different from them .  Scout even describes how she dresses when she is gardening , and then after five in the afternoon she changes and looks gorgeous . Also , Jem and Dill grow closer , and Scout starts to feel left out of their friendship . Now Miss Maudie is her new friend , and she makes Scout company .

This lady is Miss Maudie she is a widow , a chameleon lady who works in her flower bed in an old straw hat and men overalls , but after five o’ clock she would shower and change and appear in her front porch looking beautiful. She loved everything that grew on God’s earth . She is also very wise , and she makes the best cake in the world .

Ugh the school year is moving way too slow. After school today , I passed the Radleys house , which is a very scary place and everything that happens in this town is blamed on the Radleys . Today when i pass the Radleys house i saw some tinfoil sticking out of a knothole in one of the Radleys’ oak trees. I reach into the knothole and discovers two pieces of chewing gum. I chew both pieces and told Jem about it. He panicked and made me spit it out. He is so dramatic .

I don’t want to go to school anymore . I told Atticus i didn't feel very well and i dint think i wanted to go to school anymore if it was okay with him. I told him that he never went to school and he turned out alright , i told him i could be home school . he could be my teacher . but he said he has to make a living and that besides they’d put him in jail for not sending me to school . and i explained to him what happen at school and how Miss Caroline told me that Atticus had taught me all the wrong things and how he couldn’t read to me anymore. He promised he would keep reading to me as long as i don’t tell her.

So today i beat up a kid in school , Walter Cunningham , i rub his nose at the dirt until Jem came and interfere . Then, he invited  Walter to dinner . i when to the kitchen to Cal and i criticized the way Walter ate .Cal got mad at me she told me he was company and she scolded me .I was really mad at her . But  she try to make it up to me by making crackling bread (my favorite ) . It was not often that she made it , she always said she didn't have time , but with both of  us at school today it had been  an easy one for her.  She told me she missed me today and she bent down and kiss me .I guess that was her way of making it up to me . she had always been too hard on me , she was easy on Jem .

Ugh  Miss Caroline Fisher

So my first day of school wasn’t as good as I expected thanks to Miss Caroline. Before the first morning was over , Miss Caroline , my teacher , drag me to the front of the room and patted the palm of my hand with a ruler , then made me stand in the corner until noon . Just because i knew how to read , she was mad because supposedly Atticus taught me how to read , but i told her that no one showed me how to read that i knew by myself.  Now that i think about it , reading was something that just came to me.

This is Jem, Dill, and me playing together this past summer we had so much fun rolling one another inside an old tire. Untill Jem got mad at me and pushed me really hard and i ended up in the front of the Radleys steps.

September is finally here i am so excited that im starting school with my brother Jem, but im also sad because Dill left , he only comes during summer. Dill leaves Maycomb to return to the town of Meridian, where he lives . Every summer he comes and stays with his aunt and we play and have fun all summer long .

Hello everybody my name is Jean Louise Finch also known as Scout. I live with my dad, Atticus, my brother Jem, and my nanny/cook Calpurnia in Maycomb , a small town in Alabama. My mother die when i was little so i barely remember her . I also have my best friend Dill who comes around summer and stays at his aunts house  .
