📖Appreciating Quackity/QSMP’s Storytelling 📖

i want to take a second to appreciate how innovative Quackity’s story telling is because i haven’t seen some of my favorite things addressed!

not only has he brought together communities and started this revolutionary multi-lingual server, but he has made so many compelling and innovative creative choices that added to its success!

okay first of all, the fact that qsmp has admins that play npcs that add to lore and drive the story forward is already so cool to me. it allows for even more variety in the storyline and also each npc is so well executed??? like not only the eggs, but fred, ron, the various coworkers foolish is getting to know, and the list goes on.

but beyond implementing admins, quackity has incorporated so many media platforms into this story which takes it far beyond just being a minecraft server! it’s impressive from a creative standpoint, and super compelling as a viewer!

for those of you who don’t remember/know: during las nevadas we saw a hint of quackity’s storytelling creativity. quackity started making his lore more produced and implemented pre-recorded elements. on one of those streams, there was a cut from minecraft to real-life; quackity dumped a briefcase of poker chips on a table. fans LOVED IT! it was innovative and personally it drew me into the story in a way that i hadn’t seen done before.

i loved seeing this choice of mixing the minecraft world with the real world and the idea of using different media to tell a story was expanded upon even more-so in QSMP!

in order to tell the QSMP story, quackity pushes the limits of various platforms and he continues to come up with new ideas! he uses minecraft and enhances the gameplay through adding custom-made mods ranging from translators to the minimes. he created a “federation document” for the election and sent it to all the players in real life! he streamed the election results on twitch by dressing as his character, even acting as if he was talking to cucurucho. (not to mention including the audience in voting and all the statistics, even though the audience isn’t canon it was really entertaining). Beyond that, there are multiple QSMP twitter accounts that are canon and have interacted with each other! and even a website! And there is a museum in the QSMP spawn that showcases art from various fan artists!

The use of various media to build the QSMP story has been such an exciting thing to experience and it’s such an innovative way to keep delivering new and exciting content!

I’ve found myself wanting to analyze why I love the QSMP so much and this is just the tip of the iceberg as to why the specific storytelling choices feel so revolutionary and different. I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

QSMP EGG DEPARTMENTS

anything below 74° is a little chilly

I can enjoy my time outside in dry heat until it’s 85+ usually. It’s not ideal, but my “limit” wouldn’t be until it’s around 90. That’s when I would start trying to actively avoid the heat.

I'm thinking about that conversation that Fit and Ramón had down in that crater (the one where Ramón convinced Fit that acknowledging and pursuing his feelings for Pac were worth it) after all these months and I'm not really sure what prompted that but. Man. What a fucking brilliant scene that was in retrospect.

That conversation wasn't just Ramón kicking Fit up the ass and telling him to take the plunge with Pac; it was also a really good insight into Ramón as a character.

The angle that Ramón used was 'you need someone other than me to take care of you' which just makes a miserable amount of sense to be something for a kid like Ramón to believe. Even before all the eggs went missing, he was scared of death, painfully aware of the reality of it after the party during the elections arc. Going missing would have only made him even more aware of the fact that not only was he 100% mortal, but also that his dad would have no one if he died.

First and foremost, he cares for his dad more than anything else, and just wants him to be happy.

Secondly, he's a very smart kid, he's logical. We know this. He's not afraid to visit the idea that one day he might go missing again or even die, and he wants to prepare his dad for this eventuality because it just makes sense to be cautious.

Thirdly, we not only saw the extent of how much Ramón cares for Fit, but also how well he knows him. He not only knew exactly what Fit was deflecting and why, but knew exactly how to convince him to accept it. Fit and Ramón have always been thick as thieves, them against the world, and Ramón knew full well that he was the only person who could reason with Fit on this matter.

And it was all so in character for Fit too, still denying and deflecting until he's eventually made to concede by his boy, because who else could it possibly be. It just makes so much sense for that to be the turning point for his character and and and -- Dude I could talk about that scene all day. TV level shit

You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.

By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.

I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?

I don't want to be sad anymore, so personally, I don't think Pomme and Dapper are dead.

One, it doesn't really feel right to say they died after the admins left, for very valid reasons obviously. Like idk, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Two, there's so much potential you can do with their stories after the fact, than just say "oh their characters died. The end."

So here's what I think happened:

Dapper and Pomme found a very ancient and powerful spell they used to escape the island. How did they do it? That's up to interpretation, but Dapper is the son of a demon/fallen angel, the grim reaper himself. She's also a highly skilled occultist. I think between her and Pomme, they would find some powerful sorcery that helped them escape.

Also as a side note, Pomme has the most amount of non-human parents. I imagine she's very powerful herself.

So, they open a rift in the island's barrier and Dapper and Pomme break the tether that binds them to whatever is keeping everybody on Quesadilla Island and escape through some kind of portal that opens up to the other side of the world. Of course, they are still only children and the spell can only do so much. Unfortunately, only they manage to escape, so they can only hope that they'll see their dad and their family again someday.

Another sidenote: I don't think the capybaras are bound to the island, so when the rift opened, they noticed Pomme and Dapper leaving. Two capybaras, Alexandre and Dansir, went with the two kids and eventually found them- keeping them safe and guarding them from the dangers of the world during their travels.

Whether Bad knows about the spell and helped them escape is another thing that's up to interpretation. But you know, there's still the angst of him being alone in the house now. All he can hope for is that one day he'll see his kids again one day, and have faith that they're taking care of themselves, and are doing alright in the world.

Some ghosties followed them, so Pomme and Dapper can still communicate with Bad via Ghostie telepathy maybe? Ghostie telephone? Ghostie mind link?? In other words, Lumi and Shade appear in Bad's chat sometimes XD.

So yeah, my personal headcanon is that Dapper and Pomme are out there, exploring the world and researching everything about magic and science. Anything that can help them destroy the Federation and free their family from the evil clutches of those keeping them there, so that they may be with their loved ones once again.

It's not a goodbye. It's just the beginning of a new chapter for Dapper and Pomme. It's like when the main character of a movie or smth journeys out of their hometown to explore the world, become stronger, and defeat the great evil once and for all!!

im having the coolest chat ever with ramons ex-second admin, art, and they shared with me an idea they never got greenlit playing for ramon!

they wanted ramon to have been the first egg to find out about the rebellion turns out, and had a whole spy arc planned!! he said that ramon even had a book in his backpack full of notes about fit and pac and all the suspicious things!
