Okay I’m two months late but it’s been FIVE YEARS !?!
Still grateful that a little solo X-Men series forever changed my life. I was originally told I had 12 issues, then 10, then 11… we landed at 17 😉I think you can see some of the uncertain footing those first two volumes. But by volume 3… volume 3 volume 3 volume 3! nothing beats the victory lap where I got to explore the aspects of Iceman’s history I reeeeally vibed with (Emma, Christian Frost, Madin, Shade aka Darkveil, confronting Jean Grey!!! Etc). I did some cool stuff, and accomplished in three volumes at Marvel what every creator hopes to do: deeply impact a character they love, create a new character that fans love, and write dialog for Spider-Man.
Five years!

Hi Everyone-
I wanted to let you know about my new one-shot at Image Comics called Rockstar and Softboy. It’s a wild book that is inspired by my friendship with comic writer Josh Trujillo, and came from us bonding extra hard competing in the DC Comics Round Robin competition last year. What started as me wanting to make lemonade out of of losing a contest and celebrating a strengthened friendship became so much more.
The story follows two best friends and them planning a party in a world where witches coexist with zombies who coexist with faeries who coexist with vampires. The friendship is put to the test when an ancient myth known only as The Party Animal shows up at their event and causes a mess that dredges up old dirt between two besties. This sounds like nonsense, yet Rockstar and Softboy is actually the most personal and vulnerable story I’ve told in a long time (and this is coming from the guy who started a memoir with him naked in the shower praying for his grandmother’s life).
This is an earnest plea to place a pre-order with your local comic shop before the Final Order Cut-off on Monday 1/17. I have no clue what the marketplace is like for 64 page one-shots, never mind one-shots about gay bff that’s like Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion on Scott Pilgrim-laced amphetamine. Your direct support can make all the difference between this being something that makes me incredibly happy, and something that makes Image Comics proud to have me in their roster of creatives. Given the paper shortage we’re dealing with, Image is not doing second printings… so I really only get ONE shot with this book :-O You can use the handy dandy image I included at the top of this note!
Also, for retailers seeing this: I will be sending out signed bookplates to any shop that orders five or more copies. I’ll match your order with bookplates. This is my only solution to not being able to tour under current conditions :( Please send me a screengrab or some other proof of ordering after FOC to sinagracewebsite (at) gmail dot com.
Thanks so much for reading and spreading the word!
-Sina

I made this funny drawing to promote my entry in the DC Round Robin competition! Can you catch the reference?
Tomorrow (Wednesday 4/14) the last day to vote for Green Lanterns on Twitter and DCUI. PLEASE help me get to the next bracket! We won Instagram, but I’m still a little behind on the other two. The DCUI numbers are so small tho that if like 30-40 of you signed up and voted, we could totally shift the vote! The winner of this whole thing gets their pitch greenlit to series! V Ken Marion would be drawing!! Swoon!
To vote on Twitter:

To vote on DCUI:

This competition is super important to me because my editor basically asked “what’s a great DC story you want to tell, with any characters at your disposal?”
Kyle Rayner is my favorite lantern. There are aspects to his personality that haven’t been explored in years that I’ve got a keen perspective on. Kilowog is one of those characters who deserves a way bigger spotlight. The bad guy of the story is someone from Kyle’s past who has found a way to get under Kilowog’s skin just the same. I never thought I had it in me to tell this kind of crime action story, but here I am begging for the opportunity to bring Underworld on Fire to life.
So please please please, if you have three minutes: vote on Twitter, sign up on DCUI and vote (it’s free), and help give me the chance to tell a Green Lantern story that’ll hold up against the best of the best. If you have even one extra minute, signal boost the shit out of me and help spread the word. Gaaaah I want this so bad!

PLEASE READ AND PLEASE VOTE !!!
I am a part of the DC round robin competition, putting my best foot forward with a Green Lanterns pitch called Underworld on Fire. If I win this thing, my Kyle and Kilowog Buddy cop book would get greenlit into a mini series with more of this stunning V Ken Marion art!
The competition is going down on Twitter and it’s gonna be a really tough fight against the amazing Zatanna pitch... but I know y’all wanna see what I can do when I put Kyle against a fully badass version of [REDACTED]!!!
Cast your vote, signal boost my ass, and let’s get my pitch to the next round !!!
Voting happens on Twitter, Instagram Stories and the DCUI Community Board:

It’s been 10 years since The Li’l Depressed Boy launched at Image Comics!
Grateful for the journey... hundreds of pages, dozens of cities, multiple translations, lots of musicians... and the most supportive readers you could ever ask for.

So, me being a Taylor Swift fan is a very new thing. I’m mainly happiest listening to fuzzy garage bands with female leads. That, or Lady Gaga. No middle ground, haha. For years, I was largely ambivalent to Taylor’s music and vibe. Sure, I bought 1989 to better understand a Swiftie I’d dated, and morbid curiosity had me glued to the Reputation rollout, but I never really played much of the music, nor did I publicly sing her praises. Then 2020 happened. Being trapped at home with very extreme situations happening on all fronts, I needed an escape with my music. I wanted something that straddled feeling dangerous and being absolutely low stakes. Cue: Reputation. Taylor Swift being a “bad girl” while appealing to all age groups was the perfect tone for turning off the outside world for an hour a day. After that, the truth about the Kim/ Kanye scandal unfolded with Taylor being vindicated, and I found myself rooting for her hard in the fight against Scooter Braun. Once Folklore was announced, I was a full-on Swiftie. I still remember walking my dog on the night of the album’s release and rushing through her web store's checkout to order the iconic cardigan. It is so much fun being on this side of the fandom. Her followers are incredibly kind and welcoming on social media. I’m in a chat group with a handful of friends where we gab endlessly about Taylor lyrics and the myriad conspiracy theories that pop up every few days. It’s so refreshing and fun to love an entertainer who is universally adored. Is this what liking sports feels like??? For Taylor’s birthday, I wanted to try out some new techniques on Procreate and illustrate a really detailed portrait… but I also reminded myself: “You don’t do this for the indie bands that could actually use free promo art, Sina.” Well, I found a way to follow my inspiration while honoring all the other musicians who kept me company during quarantine. Hidden in the artwork are the names of 13 under the radar bands and singers I love and want to support. If you have time, please consider giving them a listen, or a follow, or even an album purchase. xoS
