Sindbad knew Eris well enough by now to know that she was not a cruel woman - not to him, at least not genuinely - but the gentleness of her touches surprised him, and he felt a sudden wrench somewhere deep inside his chest. This was it, then - the moment that they had both been waiting for, to say out loud what neither of them had found the courage to say.

Now that it was here, he had to question how wise it all really was. History was filled with tales of gods and mortals - and he was no scholar, but even he knew that none of them had happy endings.

"Eris," he said, surprisingly gentle himself, raising his hands up to move hers from his chest. "You're wrong - you have a choice. I'm mortal; I won't be here forever."

"No, I doubt I will. I’ve watched over you this long, and known you for even longer than you realize." She trailed off and set her hands lightly at his chest. "I don’t only favor you for the Chaos you inflict, Sinbad…I know that we are two souls on the same plane of existence. Even if you walk on one rail and I the other, we’ll always be in the same direction." She sighed out and let her gaze drop to her own fingers. "I’m sorry for all the confusion, but I think it’s what binds us together. I don’t want to stop what you are…go, be reckless, it’s what I ad..mire about you.” She hummed quietly to herself and met his eyes. “So I will be bound to follow after you. Wherever havoc goes, I follow, I lead, I pursue and I push. We have no choice but to be…together.”

The touch was a gentle one - softer than any touch that she usually bestowed upon him - and though he was better used to grasping fingers or chiding prods, he rapidly softened into it and found his head turning into her hand.

"Ana asif," he murmured, hooking his thumbs awkwardly into his sash. "I don't-... mean to make you worry. But you will tire of me, one day. I want to be remembered, even if it is just for causing you trouble."

"…Yes. I do. " She was stilled. "Sinbad…" She glided over to him silently and set her hands soft as gauze onto his shoulders. "I know you can take a lot of punishment, but you don’t have to prove anything to me. True…you’re a reckless fool addicted to adrenaline rushes and boasting rights, but I know there’s more to it than that. I would have tired of you long ago." Her fingers captured part of his hair and rubbed them absently. "After all the time I’ve known you? I’m not ready to lose you over ridiculous stunts."

"Here you go, you sweet little drone, you. Have some clover honey on the house. You've more than earned it."

"… I’m starting to suspect that I’m being played."

Any attempts at humour died on his lips, his foolish mood stripped away by what appeared to be (geniune?) concern on her behalf. Huffing a sigh down his nose, he pushed a hand into his hair and slunk dejectedly back to her side. "Yanhar aswad...You don't need to fuss over me. I'm fine."

"….Can I see? I mean…are you…still in working order?”

"….That was….very foolish and reckless. What if you asphyxiated? MY God, just because you survived  Jörmungandr’s venom doesn’t mean you can take other toxins willy-nilly…MY GODS it actually works in reverse—the more you take in as poison or venom, the harder it is to survive the next inflicted…Come here…”
