I want to be genetically accurate as possible with some of warrior Oc, and I need a bit of help. Say a cat that has brown lynx point in it's phenotype and a cat that had ragdoll coloring as its phenotype. What type of babies would be produced from that pair?

Hi anon! I’ve got to make a few assumptions here based on the information given, so if anything is incorrect send in another ask and I can take another swing at it!

TLDR; most likely black siamese points with no or some white spotting

Details under the cut!

Brown is a vague term in the cat genetics world, but usually the layman’s term “brown tabby” will refer to a genetically black tabby so I’ll be assuming the brown lynx point is genetically black. Also, I’m assuming they have Siamese pointing.

The second is that I’m not sure if the ragdoll has white spotting or not. The breed comes in solid pointed or mitted with white spotting. I’m going with mitted + white spotting for this because that’s the colouring I think of when I hear ragdoll.

Brown lynx point – BB (black based), cscs (siamese pointing), ww (no white spotting), AA (tabby markings visible)

Ragdoll – BB (black based), cscs (siamese spotting), Ww, aa (tabby markings not visible)

Possible kittens:

BB – 100% black (If you wanted both parents to carry chocolate (Bb) when you would get 25% black, 50% black carrying chocolate, and 25% chocolate)

cscs – 100% siamese pointed kittens

Ww and ww – 50% no white spotting and 50% with up to 50% white spotting

Aa – 100% tabbies carrying solid (If the lynx point carried solid (Aa) then 50% of the kittens would be tabby and 50% would be solid)

Ok let’s say I have a black male cat, who is the child of a chocolate and a black, and I breed him with a chocolate female (who doesn’t carry cinnamon). How would you show that on a sex linked punnet square?? Do you put the character for chocolate on the Y?? I DONT GET IT HELP IM CONFUSED

Hey there anon! I think the problem here is that chocolate is not a sex-linked gene! The only colour gene in cats that is sex-linked is the red colour gene XO (red) and Xo (non-red).

The eumelanistic colours (black/chocolate/cinnamon) are on the regular chromosomes so they follow standard genetics rules.

Basically your genotypes would be:

Male: XoY (not red) and BB or Bb if he’s carrying chocolate

Female: XoXo (not red) and bb

Hi! I’m trying to work out the genetics of my warriors OCs (which are so far mercifully correct) and I wanted to know if a female tortoise can be a chocolate carrier? I would like her to have some chocolate kits with her chocolate tabby mate 0w0

Any cat has the potential to carry chocolate, unless they are genetically cinnamon/fawn since that gene is the most recessive of the black-based genes, so a female black and red tortoiseshell could absolutely carry chocolate!

Rowanpaw, apprentice of NightClan; later named Rowanwood

Son of Mossyfoot and Deertail.  Rowanpaw is a quiet but inquisitive little tom.  Had the position been open, he probably would have been considered to be a medicine cat apprentice.  He’s very sensitive and tuned in to other cats’ emotions and feelings and genuinely enjoys caring for the elders and kits when their mothers need a break.  As a warrior, he does fairly well, but he can be clumsy and easily distracted.  He’s very good at figuring out problems, especially when he can see it in front of him.

Smith’s Litter Frog - Leptobrachium smithi

The Smith’s Litter Frog, Leptobrachium smithi (Megophryidae) is sometimes referred to as Vampire frogs because the iris are divided into two parts, the upper third is bright scarlet or yellow whereas the lower part is dark brown or black. Just look at the third picture, a couple of these frogs in amplexus.

This species is known from Thailand and the northern part of Peninsular Malaysia, as well as through Myanmar to Assam, India.

Ottersplash, deputy of StreamClan

Son of Frondfur and Splashfang. Brother of Beavertail, Froglily, Bubblekit and Sedgekit.  Ottersplash has always been a quiet and serious tom.  Cats always joked about him being born an elder in a kit’s body because of how level headed and calm he always was.  Being so mature for his young age, he always felt distant from his littermates and often spent time on his own–clamming up and getting extremely uncomfortable when other cats tried to spend time with him.

When it came time for him to be apprenticed, he was assigned Raggedfur as a mentor.  The tom, though an extremely skilled had grown very bitter and angry by the death of his mate and kits, and the survival of his disfigured son, Twokit. This made him a very harsh and unforgiving mentor and he pushed Otterpaw extremely hard, often giving him panic attacks and making it difficult to sleep.  So Otterpaw, driven by his social anxiety around his clanmates and wanting to stay away from his mentor, spent as much time as far away from camp as he could. And on the border between StreamClan and Twolegplace, he met a young tom named Cowboy.

Though the young rogue annoyed and baffled him at first, he eventually grew very close to him and snuck out as much as he could to meet his new friend.  Cowboy’s easy-going personality and his lack of expectations and judgments drew him in and made him feel at ease–something he’d rarely felt among his clanmates.

However one day, they were found by a patrol, led by Raggedfur.  The fearsome warrior launched an attack on the rogue tom, which quickly broke out into a full out battle when other nearby cats heard and came to Cowboy’s defense.  During the fight, Otterpaw stood frozen, torn and terrified.  By the end, all he could see was his friend’s battered body, bleeding out on the ground.

Believing his friend to be dead, he drew inward on himself even more.  He blocked out the memory as best he could and threw himself into his training, desperate to prove himself.

He was made deputy fairly recently, and at a very young age.
