Zephon

A massive tropical planet that is covered in a near global spanning jungle. Zephon is Tennin’s second largest planet in terms of shear size, and the largest planet by a wide margin in terms of landmass. The jungles of Zephon are filled with massive apex predators that prey on the other forms of wildlife found in the jungle and routinely attempt to scale the settlement walls to get at the citizens on the other side. Even tough these massive beasts are the most dangerous things on Zephon even the smaller organisms that they feed on are lethal to humans and patrols go missing every day after falling victim to one of the many species that prey on people. On the smaller scale are also several species of insects that will sting or bite a man to death to defend their territory, or even consume a man whole, his flesh being stripped from his bones beneath a cloud of bugs. In addition to the hostile fauna there are a staggeringly large number of plant species that are also carnivorous; some even able to swallow a man whole including a now infamous species of acid filled pitcher plant that grow in the ground where a man can step into them accidentally. Both the flora and fauna of Zephon are extremely hardy and it requires daily maintenance to keep these forces out of the settled zones. In fact the species of Zephon are so adoptable that there are a handful of them that have changed to feed exclusively off humans in the relatively short time they have been on the planet.
Because of the tough living conditions on Zephon and how hard individuals have to fight the natural flora and fauna just to stay alive it produces some of the most hardened regiments coming out of the Tennin System, along side Harut. In fact the planet is so good at creating hardened fighters and weeding out weak recruits that most human settlements on Zephon are linked in some way to training centers and most of the population is military. For this reason many have drawn parallels between Zephon and Catachan as both planets have earned the “Death World” categorization.
History – The first three attempts at colonizing Zephon all ended in mysterious failures. Large landing crews with security details landed from orbit with the intention of establishing a new base, but all had vanished within 48 hours leaving little to no trace as to what happened to the landing parties. It was not until a large military force had been dispatched from Camael that any form of settlement was able to get a foot hold. It was quickly learned that the planet has an extremely wide diversity of plants and animals that live in the thick brush, almost all of which are hostile to humans. In order to keep the natural forces at bay all settlements are required to have thick, high steel walls to keep predators and packs of animals out, and guards armed with flame throwers burn off vegetation that regrows on the walls daily.
Zephon has a history of turning out the most hardy and experienced soldiers trained in the Tennin System. Because the conditions of the planet prepare them physically and mentally for the extremely violent nature of the war torn galaxy they are often sent to the harshest environments known to man to fight the Emperor’s foes. Soldiers are trained in all forms of combat on Zephon including a style of hand-to-hand combat which was developed on Zephon and specializes in defeating foes that are stronger then yourself. Soldiers trained on the planet are not just experienced at surviving the natural habitat and fighting large animals but also defeating Chaos warriors who often use the thick jungles as cover for staging raids on other parts of the system. Zephon was also ground zero for the bloody conflict that is still raging now known as The War of Thorns.
Current Condition – Zephon is all but completely lost to Hive Fleet Varanus. Most of the planet’s once dense jungles have been eaten away by the tendril and anything found stirring within them have been consumed. All major population centers have long since been massacred and the planet is officially labelled as “consumed”. Despite this, there are reports being intercepted of communications leaving the planet and asking for help from the extremely tiny group of fighters still alive in the small remaining patches of jungle. Though no rescue attempts are to be made to retrieve the survivors and they will inevitably soon be added to the hive fleet’s bio-wealth, captains all over the system use stories of these survivors to encourage and inspire their own troops.
The War of Thorns – The Tennin System was rocked when at the end of the First Tyranic War two hive fleet Behemoth bio-ships crashed into the surface of Zephon. At that time the full system when into high alert fearing that they had just been violently dragged into the ongoing war with the savage hive fleet. Soldiers and weapons were mobilized from all parts of the system and brought to Zephon to exterminate the escaped xenos. Together with the aid of the Ultra Marines massive swaths of Zephon’s jungles were burned away or bombarded from orbit. There were a few settlements on the surface that had been estimated to take too long to evacuate and so were purged along with the jungle under a sea of flames. After several intensive weeks of seeking out Tyranid organisms and destroying them the planet calmed as was deemed safe. Detachments of Ultra Marines and Astra Militarum stayed behind for years to ensure that the Behemoth menace would not surface again. Over time however threats to other parts of the galaxy pulled these reinforcements away and the Tennin System was left much the way it was before the bio-ships had landed. Unknown to them at the time, those that fought in this battle would be the first combatants in a conflict that burns to this day called The War of Thorns.
It is still unknown exactly when, but approximately 100 years after the Ultra Marines left the Tennin System a lone Hive Tyrant that had managed to escape destruction by being buried alive inside a cave during a bombardment became active again. Initially the lone Tyrant wondered the jungle feeding off the animals and simply collected any other Tyranid organisms that had manage to escape the blaze. Soon however, he had a small enough force to start striking out at passing patrols, which regularly went missing in the planet’s harsh jungles. From these humble beginnings that lone Tyrant was able to birth a new tendril: Have Fleet Varanus. Within months the planet Zephon was overwhelmed and consumed, its bio mass feeding the hungry new menace.
As as trike force arrived to delete the planet with a global bombardment they were met with resistance above the planet as Varanus had managed to gain space fairing bio-ships. It wasn’t long before the strike force was over run and the tendril spread out to the other parts of the Tennin System. Today some of the most hotly contested battlegrounds are those on the planets Kiraman Katibin and Camael. Currently a fierce battle still rages between Tennin’s own defence forces, the Astra Militarum, and the Iron Sovereigns Space Marine chapter who are trying to beat back the slow march of the Varanus Hive Fleet and save what planets that have not yet been consumed.

Maalik

Being so close to the system’s star, Maalik is a near molten planet with little to no value. Though there are no civilian settlements on Maalik it can boast a small and extremely sparse military presence on account of the outposts that dot the few pieces of solid earth available. Though it is expensive to maintain any form of operation here it is considered valuable for the planet’s ability to hide heat and radiation signals, masking them in the planet’s natural functions. The only other human presence on the planet are some poorly maintained prison facilities, and it is rumoured that some wealthy criminal kingpins have hideouts hidden in the fires and flames keeping all unwanted attention away. Even accounting for unverified hideouts the total population of the planet is under a few thousand.
Current Condition – Because it has no natural resources, and traffic to and from the planet is well hidden, Maalik is the only planet in the Tennin System that Varanus has not taken an interest in. For this reason several top military individuals, some planetary governors, as well as the system governor have been moved to Maalik to coordinate Tennin’s resistance against the Hive Fleet invasion.

Lailah

A planet tidally locked with the system's sun making the night side extremely cold and indefinitely covered in ice and snow while the side facing the sun is too hot for life to form. Around the planet’s vertical equator where the temperatures are prime for settling, however, large cities have sprung up. The band around the planet that forms the habitable zone starts on the far side of the planet in the mountains were sun light can reach and give a little warmth, descends down into a very humid jungle which makes up most of the habitable zone, and ends in a desert that is closest to the side of the planet facing the system’s sun. The desert is cause for concern for more than a few settlers as it is growing slowly as the planet continues its slow advance towards to system’s star. Though a few parts of this desert and the mountains on the other side of the jungle are livable almost all of the planets population is found inside the planet’s thick jungle canopies. Unless you are living in the desert closer to the sun, or in the snowy portion of the habitable zone where it is markedly darker, most citizens live in a constant state of evening twilight as the planet does not allow for normal day/night cycles.
History – For most of Lailah’s early history it was thought too dangerous to colonize due to the extreme climates on either side of the planet. On the side facing away from the sun there was no life and endless frozen planes existed in perpetual night. This meant that other than the sheer amount of physical space to spread people out there was no redeeming qualities to battling the extreme below zero weather. The other side of the planet was much worse; starting off in a vast dessert and culminating in a violent molten wasteland that can get so hot it rains rock from the sky as it evaporates and cools.
What these extreme natural phenomena lead to was a period of observation longer than the ones for Harut and Marut and a final assessment that Lailah should instead be used as a waste disposal planet. Several generations of the Tennin System sent all their waste that could not be recycled to be dumped on the planet’s surface from orbit. Only after much time passed and a mighty need to send settlers out from over populated planets such as Kiraman Katibin was the planet cleared for habitation around the planet’s habitable zone. The first order of business was to clear away as much garbage as possible from the jungles so that people could build their homes there. Even after a long clean-up effort to this day citizens can still find piles of ancient garbage hidden in the dense jungle. It is also possible to see literal mountains of trash that have been preserved in the frozen icelands on the far side of the planet, some of which are clearly visible from space.
Lailah has an odd history of invaders arriving on the planet, not to murder and pillage, but simply to hide away. Almost as soon as the first settlers landed were the first Chaos raiding parties discovered in the canopies of the planet’s jungles. Oddly, the raiders had not made a move to attack any of Lailah’s cities but instead seemed to be simply waiting. The first time it happened military officials thought they had found the invaders while they were waiting for reinforcements and praised their good timing. This exact scenario played out again and again however and now efforts are being made to discover what is making everything so docile and why it has not yet affected the Imperium settlers. To date several Chaos raiding parties have been found and eliminated, a handful of cults that were made up of Lailah’s citizens which were using the jungle to hide their activities, and even a Ork raiding party which never bothered to go more than a few feet from their crashed scouting vessel. Most recently patrols have been turning up advance invasion organisms from Hive Fleet Varanus. Although they seem to be made as docile as everything else in the jungle they also appear to have greater self preservation instincts and are able to defend themselves almost normally once attacked.
Current Condition – Lailah is currently fairing the crisis facing the rest of the system quite well. This is partly due to the fact that it is closer to the system’s star and Varanus has not yet made any serious invasions this deep into the Tennin System. Another explanation is that the hive fleet’s scouting organisms have fallen to the planet’s mysterious curse and are either not able to properly communicate to the rest of the fleet, or have warned the hive fleet of the planet’s effects on their biology and to stay away from it. Currently Lailah is being used as a refugee haven for people fleeing other parts of the besieged system.

Kiraman Katibin

Medium, Eta World
A high-military world where the war rooms, offices of generals, and especially record halls are kept under the safe watch of heavy turrets. Being the Capital planet in the Tennin System it can boast being both the most population dense on account of massive migration to the planet for work, and because of the massive number of troops and military operations stationed there, also the best defended next to Camael where the majority of the system’s weapons are manufactured. All matters of exploration, development, or military conduct within the Tennin System first have to pass through the halls of Kiraman Katibin and it is the seat of military strategy in the area of space. Most citizens consider it to be the holiest planet in the system as there are several cathedrals dedicated to the Imperial Cult, and it is often the destination of religious pilgrimages by the devout.
Kiraman Katibin is nearly identical to Terra in terms of it’s ecology and geography, with the exception that the gravity on Kiraman Katibin is slightly heavier than Terra as it is slightly larger. Though they don’t share flora and fauna they both exhibit the same level of ecological diversity, or at least they did before over population destroyed most of the natural habitats on Kiraman Katibin. What is left now is only the heartiest species that could adapt to living in the global city and a select few that the wealthy preserve as pet projects. Most of the species that were native to the planet are now only seen in gaudy museums dedicated to giving small glimpses of the planet’s once beautiful past. The present day environment my not be toxic as it is on Harut but it is dense with pollution and most natural water sources need to be heavily filtered before they can be drank.
History - Kiraman Katibin is the first inhabited planet within the Tennin System. It was thought that human life evolved here first until the Imperium made contact with the Tennin natives shortly after their habitation of Camael. The discovery of factories on Camael that were already built and working along with vaults filled with manufactured goods, as well as making contact with other members of the human race, has since revealed that the Tennin System was inhabited long before and any records of that time are now lost. For that reason it is no longer sure which planet was inhabited first or if human life evolved here independently or if settlers from other parts of the Empire moved here before the dark age hid their ancestry from them.
Throughout it’s long and battered history Kiraman Katibin has seen many raids by the forces of Chaos which were aimed at stealing some of the many relics housed on the planet, or else trying to raid the vaults filled with all kinds of wealth beyond measure. Because of their experience fighting Chaos on their home front in the Tennin System, many of the millions of troopers given to the Astra Militarum as tithes end up on battlefields across the Imperium fighting the forces of Chaos where ever their stain spreads.
Current Condition - Kiraman Katibin is currently under attack from forces both within and without while in the throws of The War of Thorns. Entire districts of the global city have been taken over by invading Tyranids from Hive Fleet Varanus. The tendril which has been consuming most of the Tennin System Managed to make landfall and have since either scattered into the labyrinth of the Undercity or have managed to overwhelm defenders at every turn. The movement of the front lines has slowed to a crawl, however, they are still slowly moving towards the planet’s capital buildings. It is estimated that the planet and the rest of the system will have little chance of beating back the Varanus menace if the personnel in the capital buildings were to fall.
Additionally, as soon as the first Varanus organisms made landfall a hidden but well networked band of separatists operating under the name “Cult of the Golden Gun” rose up and began attacking Kiraman Katibin defense forces. It us unknown how long the cult has been in operation, however they are constantly able to surprise the defence forces not only with the level of fire power they have been able to bring to bear, but also by how well they know the defence forces’ plans and timing, indicating a breach at a very high level of the military.
Cult of the Golden Gun – Because Kiraman Katibin is largely treated by the Empire as an opulent world for high officials and military personnel it is covered by giant military complexes and fortresses, each of which are ornately decorated and throughout the war rooms and record halls you can find rare objects and artifacts from the Empire’s past.
As a result of the top brass’ large spending and lavish lifestyle on the planet, the lower classes that are present and needed to keep things running are extremely neglected and taken advantage of. The growing animosity between the upper and lower class was an easy target for the Patriarch of the Cult of the Golden Gun, which has used his minions to spread a message among the population of a cleansing tide that will eradicate the upper echelons and give the world back to the common people.
For an unknown period of time the cult infected the lower ranks of the population and worked it’s way up until the day the growing Hive Fleet Varanus arrived in the planet’s skies. The Cult of the Golden Gun was among the first to rise up and attack the Imperial presence on the planet as soon as the Tyranid fleet broke atmosphere. The military presence on Kiraman Kitabin is currently fighting a losing war from within against the cult, and from without against the invading Tyranid forces.
The cult gets it’s name from a golden weapon wielded by the cult’s Primus, which is a war relic stolen from the high halls of the generals. The Magus of the cult uses it a symbol of the impending riches that will be handed to the people if they help the Tyranids overthrow the current occupation. It also serves as an inspiration to the cultists to use the Empire’s own weapons against them.

Harut and Marut

Medium, Gamma Worlds
When the twin planets of Harut and Marut were first found they were considered too dangerous to settle, as it was thought that they would cash into each other due to their close proximity. After careful observation however, it was revealed that they share a stable orbit around each other and it is theorised that they may be able to retain a stable orbit indefinitely. After this discovery efforts to ascertain how liveable the planets are went under way and found that both could be inhabited with some minor environmental modification. Because neither planet is totally suitable for colonisation the population of the planets is growing slowly, but between the two of them they can sustain a population of several billion citizens.
Harut – Extremely similar to Terra in terms of continent formation and climate, from orbit it was thought Harut would be the prime choice out of the two for settlement. It was discovered however that the planet’s atmosphere is thick with toxic gasses that seep up from deep within the planet’s crust. Because of this no human can walk around on the surface of Harut without breath and eye protection. Early settlers found this out the hard way as they died choking on their own blood from chemically burnt lungs. The thicker air also creates more friction that the atmosphere on Terra, leading to giant super storms that wrack the planet constantly. Interestingly, the natural flora and fauna on Harut have evolved to breathe the toxic air and drink the infected water. There are a large number of plants that convert the gasses they absorb into a form of bioluminescence, creating vast tracks of multicoloured forests. There is also an extremely common form of jelly-fish like creatures that swim through the gas filled air, and are delicious when fried.
Marut – Marut is generally considered to be the better of the two planets to live on as the air here does not require filtration to breathe. Unlike it’s sister planet however, Marut is constantly going through super aggressive tectonic activity. The result of which leaves the citizens here experiencing massive earthquakes near daily, and volcanic eruptions are also a very frequent event. A byproduct of frequent earth quakes is massive tsunamis created by the tremors, some of which are several hundred feet high. As a result there is a cushioning “no habitation zone” around every coastline where there is a real threat of being washed away. Some citizens are forced to live in this highly undeveloped zone due to overpopulation and belonging to poor economy classes. Millions of people are killed every year that live in these zones by being washed out to sea, simply because they have no where else to go. While the land has a variety of flora and fauna the seas of Marut are almost completely dead due to how violent to currents are. Some efforts are being made to introduce aquatic species from Arariel and stimulate a fishing trade, however, most species have proven not tough enough to survive the Marut seas.
History – Both planets have a relatively quiet history as most efforts on the planets are concentrated on simply surviving the elements. Because both planets have such a high mortality rate their respective tithe grades are lower than the surrounding planets. Because there is a wide wealth gap between those with resources and those without, both planets have a long history of secret Chaos cult worship conducted by the poor as an attempted means of elevating their current life quality. As such there are many Chaos factions that raid the twin planets, attempting to secure a foot hold for a protracted engagement or to possible stage a revolt. All raids have so far been smothered by the overwhelming military presence of Camael.
When Varanus first attacked the twin planets they made landfall on Marut first. A large military presence was ready to greet the Tyranid threat as at the time of the invasion the Hive Fleet was already attacking Kiraman Katibin and several other parts of the system. A fierce battle raged for several weeks but it was becoming abundantly clear that Marut was losing its battle with the Tyranid menace. In an effort to save his own planet from destruction General Augustus Rhodes declares the planet doomed and orders an unofficial and unsanctioned exterminatus of Marut. In order to accomplish such a feat he takes control of every available surface to orbit gun battery on Harut and fires several salvos at planet Marut. The result isn't as effective as a full exterminatus however and only succeeds in wiping out a large portion of the landmass of Marut which was facing Harut. It is estimated that General Rhodes was responsible for the death of both countless Tyranid organisms as well as millions of civilian and military souls. In some circles the General is held up as a hero for claiming a draconian victory in the face of such adversity, most others however call him a heretic for taking matters into his own hands and ignoring any form of chain of command. In a cruel twist of fate the barrage that was meant to destroy the attacking tendril instead only drew their attention and wrath. After suffering such casualties from the planet Harut Varanus turned its attention to that planet and counter attacked it with such ferocity that it fell before reinforcements could be delivered.
Current Condition – Because the counter attack on Harut was so swift and fierce it is believed that none survive on its surface and officials have labelled the planet “consumed”. There are no longer any efforts being made to search for living personnel or save the planet at this time. Marut, despite having been attacked earlier and blown up by its sister planet, still has small pockets of resistance. Though there are known survivors and distress calls have been received from the planet’s surface no plans are in motion to evacuate surviving personnel. It is believed that Varanus have already devoured a large portion of what resources remain on Marut and it is thought that any efforts to save what ever, or who ever, is left on the planet would cost more than those resources are worth. As such in official document it is also labelled “consumed” and any received transmissions from the planet are quickly hushed up.

Dumah

Medium, Eta World
A savagely war torn planet that used to flourish until an invasion from Chaos legions decimated the population and environment during the War of the Rot. Despite the almost complete loss of the planet, it still has personnel ranging from civilians to high ranking military officials and an intensive reconstruction and rearming operations as well as ongoing purging is under way. Dumah used to be the second most populated planet in the Tennin System, however after the war was ended it was estimated it’s living population was cut nearly in half. Because the system suffers from a population crisis thousands of refugees are brought from other planets to Dumah as soon as space is cleansed of its Chaos infection.
The planet itself seems to have developed life much later than the other planets in the system as it hosts a very simple ecology. While Dumah has no large plants or trees there are a variety of simple mosses and grasses that grow in massive fields; beyond those however there is only rocky quarries and flat deserts. The most complex fauna on the planet are insect like species that feed off the mosses or other simpler life forms in the desert. This means that almost all of Dumah’s food requirements are met by importing foodstuffs from other planets, mostly notable the much larger Arariel. Because the planet has little in the way of natural resources to offer most of its tithe to the Imperium is in the form of manual labour or raw recruits for the Astra Militarum.
History – Dumah was colonised shortly after the Imperium rediscovered the lost system and helped the Tennin natives to occupy Camael. After the discovery of hundreds of factories on the planet the Camael settlers were instead brought to Dumah were massive hive cities were constructed to house them all. The settlers quickly covered the planet and Dumah became a large contributor of soldiers to the Imperium’s armies. This was changed however at the sudden appearance of a massive Nugle invasion force that for unknown reasons targeted Dumah and attempted to convert the planet into a slave of Chaos. What ensued was a nearly one hundred year long struggle now known as the War of the Rot. The War was characterized by daemons and minions of Nurgle attacking city centers and converting any ground that they conquered into a dense swamp of decay and disease. The forces fighting back were hard pressed and the planet was nearly marked for exterminatus. However, just before the obliteration fleet arrive the destroy Dumah considerable ground was regained and the encroaching swamp was burned clean. Over time the Chaos infection grew smaller and more manageable until eventually the Nurgle forces retreated back to the warp. Since the war intensive cleansing operations have nearly purged the planet of the curse of Nurgle. For every stretch of dirt reclaimed settlers are immediately brought to the planet from elsewhere to alleviate the growing population of Tennin.
War of the Rot - Tennin’s arsenal and all her troops were put to the test when a full scale Nurgle invasion emerged from seemingly no where and attacked Dumah. Tennin historians have recorded the events and miraculous deeds of brave individuals who fought back the tides of Chaos in what is now called the War of the Rot. During this nearly one hundred year conflict forces of the Chaos god Nurgle sought to take over the planet of Dumah and transform it into a twisted abomination of sickness and disease. The Rot Father’s minions wasted no time in engaging in hostilities and terraforming the land into what would have been a never ending swamp of decay. Large portions of the planet Dumah were corrupted before the tide of battle began to turn and the valiant forces of the Imperium pushed the Chaos forces back. The war was an important event in the system’s history as it was the first major incident that drew attention from other parts of the Imperium. While troops were sent in from other planets the bulk of the fighting forces was made up of troops and heavy armour from Camael. The war left horrible scars on the planet but also instilled a sense of pride in the Tennin System as they were able to fight back and win against the forces of Chaos. Several heroes made their name on the battlefields of Dumah and there is now a permanent regiment on Camael made up from veterans of the War of the Rot called the “Swampstriders”. In addition to solidifying a pride in the military might of Camael and the rest of the system, the war also saw the creation and advancement of a capable medical corps, which was able to research and cure several Nugle plagues that took hold during the conflict.
Current Condition – The swamps of Nurgle are slowly starting to grow outward again as all personnel are redirected to fight the landing Tyranid forces. Reports seem to indicate that Varanus have only a small invasion force inside the atmosphere of Dumah as they are directing the overwhelming majority of their biomass toward Camael and Kiraman Katibin. Currently city centers are falling to the Tyranid menace and fighting is expected to be especially difficult as most resources are being spent defending the factory world Camael and the capital planet Kiraman Katibin. It is unknown how the Tyranids are interacting with the Nurgle infections currently still on the planet.

Camael

Large, Phi World
An industrial war world with huge factories and barracks that cling to cliff sides in the rain. Camael is the Tennin System’s primary manufacturing planet and the vast majority of arms and armour that the system uses comes from this planet alone. In addition to it’s weapons and heavy armour manufacturing capabilities Camael is also home to the largest garrison in the system; larger than even Kiraman Katibin’s standing force. The army present on Camael is responsible for responding en masse to emergencies through out the system and are largely to be thanked for the repulsion of the Nurgle invasion that came into the Tennin System and decimated Dumah during the War of the Rot.
The terrain on Camael is as varied as it is on Terra, with rolling hills, vast broad-leaf forests, and sharp, jagged cliffs. When the native population of the Tennin System was found by the rest of the Imperium of Man they had already pushed Kiraman Katibin to it’s population limit and had only recently found the means necessary to travel to the nearby planet of Camael. The Imperium helped them explore and establish colonies on the planet in exchange for allowing settlers from other parts of the empire to come to the new planet and live there. This arrangement worked well for a few decades until an expedition party found ancient ruins just beneath the surface of the planet, likely covered in a terrestrial shift and grown over. The ruins turned out to be massive manufacturing plants built in forgotten ages past; complete with functioning forges and vaults filled with weapons and armour, including the rare and coveted Terminator armour. Ever since this discovery the Astra Militarum has taken direct control of the planet and the expedition efforts to locate further factories. Since that time there has been countless other vaults discovered containing everything from small arms and ammo, to tanks, to several Imperial Knights, as well as a few Titans. Regardless of where you stand on Camael the skyline is likely dominated by either huge towering smoke stacks from the uncovered factories, by the massive bastions of the many citadels that cover the planet and house the countless troops, or by a lumbering mechanical giants on patrol against the next Chaos invasion.
History – Camael is the second planet inside the Tennin System to be colonized and was recently inhabited at the time the Imperium of Man showed up and reestablished contact with the lost system. The much better equipped Imperium was able to help the natives of the system to solve their population crisis that they were facing on Kiraman Katibin by not only shuttling massive amounts of new settlers to the newly discovered Camael, but also to other planets in the system. While Camael has a history dating back before the re-connection with the rest of the Empire is was quickly found out that it had a hidden history that was much older. The planet was originally being eyed as a potential Hive World where both the overflow of natives from Kiraman Katibin and settlers from other locations in the galaxy could come and live. This was short lived as the discovery of hundreds of working manufacturing plants and weapon vaults just below the surface of the planet caused the Astra Militarum to seize the planet and take immediate control of all forms of government and exploration efforts. The excess colonists were moved to Dumah, which instead became the needed Hive World, and thousands upon thousands of military personnel were brought to Camael instead. As more and more factories are brought back online and more vaults are found Camael tightens its grip as the dominant military presence in the Tennin System.
Current Condition – Camael is currently working at a feverish pace to keep up with the invading forces of Hive Fleet Varanus. Factories are belching out smoke day and night while producing the gear needed to keep the system from being totally consumed. Not only are the troops and heavy armour being sent to every planet not yet over run but they are also fighting the Tyranid threat at their own gates. At the moment the fight to save Camael is going well as the bulk of Varanus forces seem to be focusing on Kiraman Katibin. Extreme caution is being taken to ensure that the vital supply line from Camael to the rest of the system are not cut off, as that would certainly spell the end for any planet currently under siege. Most officials and civilians consider Camael to be the safest place to be at the moment in the Tennin System.

Arariel

Very Large, Alpha World
A large very oceanic planet that is the system’s primary source of food through the floating ocean fisheries dotted all over the planet. The global ocean that covers the entire surface of the planet is too deep in most places to allow the proper formation of continents. Because of this gigantic vertical cities tower over what small islands are able to form, making as much use of the small landmass available as possible. Floating cities have been built to accommodate the growing numbers of workers coming to the planet to work as fishermen. Recently the inhabitants have been experimenting with building their cities under the water to make room for more people as well as avoid the harsh life of weathering the sea storms on the surface.
The ocean waters of Arariel are some of the deepest known to the Imperium, diving down several kilometers below the surface. In fact, the ocean is so deep that before you would reach the rocky “bottom” of the ocean you would run into a dense wall of ice formed by ocean water pressed into solid matter by the sheer weight of the water above it. Attempts have been launched to study the planet’s core but the lethal amounts of pressure at those depths have made progress slow.
The planet is host to an extremely diverse amount of aquatic wildlife that the Tennin system uses as one of it’s primary sources of food. The fisheries of Arariel are well known and food from the planet is served on every other planet in the Tennin System. Because the ocean is so deep, and the land masses are so small, most life on Arariel will go it’s entire lifespan without ever meeting a solid surface. As such the marine life has evolved in extremely unique and uninhibited ways. There are trillions species of small fish that find strength in numbers while roaming the global ocean, as well as a fair number of giant species of apex predators that prey on everything in between; some of these monsters are as large as the Imperium battle cruisers that pass over the planet.
History – Arariel was originally settled to be a paradise world for high ranking officials and wealthy business people to retire to in order forget their personal problems. As such the first structures on the planet were not fisheries or housing units but lavish resorts and exclusive beach-side mansions. Over time however as the planet was explored and the vast number of food sources were discovered, Arariel was instead seen as an answer to the food shortages the system was experiencing due to the growing Hiveworlds on Dumah and Kirman Katibin. It was not long before the world was stripped of it’s paradise status and fisheries with colonies of workers were established to make use of the world’s natural resources.
Any conflict on the planet comes from the competing fishing companies, which often turn violent, as well as from battling the harsh storms that wrack the planet. In fact, Arariel is the only planet in the Tennin that has never suffered a raid from Chaos forces, besides Maalik, and seems to have gone unnoticed by any other faction. It is unknown why this is the case; though it is speculated that other races or factions do not have the resources or patience to make use of the planet’s natural wealth. There are some fringe theories that state that other factions are afraid of something buried in the ice shelves at the bottom of the sea, but no surveys have yet found any evidence that such a thing exists.
Current Condition – Being the largest planet in the Tennin System and possibly the one with the largest amount of natural bio-mass when considering how full of life the oceans are, the planet was one of the first targeted by Hive Fleet Varanus after they left Zephon. Any island cities were extremely quickly over run and most of the floating cities have since been cleaned of life by the forces of the Hive Mind. The only surviving personnel on the planet are those in floating cities that had enough foresight to cut their anchors and are now drifting aimlessly across the global ocean as well as those inside the experimental under-sea cities which the Tyranids have yet to find. While some rescue operations are under way to save those not yet consumed, the Imperium is encouraging citizens to resume their fishing duties to alleviate some of the famine now engulfing the system after the planet was attacked. This is a mission that few have elected to undertake however as security feeds reveal that several of the surviving cities have fallen into anarchy with rioting, murder, rampant psychosis, and cannibalism. Some of the records that have since been restricted reveal that some cities have lost all faith in the Imperium of Man and have since fallen to Chaos as a means of preservation.
Interesting to those studying the Tyranid menace, there have been sightings of aquatic Tyranid organisms that have adapted to hunt the seas full of potential food, the likes of which have never been reported any where else. It is extremely likely that these new aquatic hunters will eventually not only cleanse the global ocean of life, but also locate and devour the hitherto hidden sunken cities.

Ambriel

Small, Rho World
A small, cold and naturally barren world; Ambriel was originally only inhabited for it’s remoteness from the rest of the system. Massive prisons to hold the Tennin system’s undesirables as well as corporate quarantine zones were built scattered across the planet and carved into its dense rock. Since the discovery and habitation of Maalik however, all of the prisoners have been moved to the fiery world and the old prison buildings have been retrofitted for research or rented out to corporations who want to conduct their trials with little outside interference. Ambriel is currently home to the system’s largest and most powerful deep-space sensor array designed to look deep into space and detect incoming threats as well as detect new and unspoiled worlds.
History – Ambriel’s past is one of barren silence. There is evidence that at some time in the ancient past the small planet once held an ecosystem similar to the one on Zephon. Before the planet was ever discovered by mankind however it suffered some catastrophic event which saw the death of all life and the atmosphere blown off the surface, leaving only fossilised remains of what life was there and cold, orange rocks.
In the time that it has since seen the Imperium move in not much has changed. After the initial rush of construction and exploration Ambriel has fallen into a rhythmic silence of little traffic or significance. The only outstanding features of this rock is the large deep space sensor array that was moved into one of the vacant prison complexes and used to look as far into space as possible to detect incoming threats and vacant, unspoiled exo-planets as well as the strong psykers that are part of the Adeptus Astronomica who help communicate with other systems.
Current Condition – Very shortly after the fall of Zephon, Ambriel was targeted by Hive Fleet Varanus and attacked by a contingency of genestealers and other foot soldiers of the Hivemind. All communication with the planet has long since been lost and it is thought impossible that any personnel of the relatively lightly defended planet are left alive, leaving the planet as barren and dead as when the Imperium first found it.

The Tennin System

The Tennin System is a solar system consisting of ten planets currently under the control of the Imperium of Man. Most planets in the system are habitable; the most noteworthy of them are Kiraman Katibin, Camale, and Zephon. The system has raids from Chaos forces on a consistent basis and has recently been the staging ground for a new Hive Fleet: Varanus.
Ambriel - Small, Rho World
A barren world that lost it’s atmosphere long before it was ever found by the Imperium. Used to be the location of several prisons and outposts, but is now very lightly defended and only occupied by a deep space array and government and corporate quarantine zones.
Arariel - Very Large, Alpha World
The largest planet in the Tennin System, however almost all of it’s surface is covered in a global ocean. Because the ocean is so deep proper continents can’t form so massive vertical cities have been build over what few islands exists. The massive ocean is home to trillions of species of fish which are gathered by fisheries all over the planet. Arariel is Tennin’s primary food source.
Camael - Large, Phi World
An industrial factory world much like Terra in terms of ecology. Camael was in the process of being colonised when the Imperium of Man reestablished contact with the lost Tennin System. At that time it was being settled as a new hive world to solve the system’s population crisis, but the discovery of working forges and vaults filled with arms and armour quickly shifted it’s focus. The entire planet is now under military control and it has become the largest military force in the system.
Dumah - Medium, Eta World
A rocky world with a very simple natural ecology, Dumah became the back-up Hive World after Camael was revealed to be of more military value. Dumah became the site of the largest Chaos invasion in the system when a Nurgle invasion party arrived and tried to turn the planet into a never ending swamp garden. After nearly 100 years of a conflict called the “War of the Rot” the Chaos forces were pushed out and the world was able to begin restoring itself to its original state.
Harut and Marut - Medium, Gamma Worlds
It was originally thought that the two close planets would collide with one another, however after close observation it was seen that they actually have a stable orbit around one another. Neither planet is totally compatible with settlement for human life, but because the system's population is growing rapidly colonies were established there any way.
Kiraman Katibin - Medium, Eta World
The capital planet in the Tennin System as well as host to the most important military individuals, relics of the Empire, and religious sites that the system has to offer. Perhaps besides Camael, it is the heaviest armed and most protected planet in the system. All official matters of governing Tennin first have to go through the high halls of Kiraman Katibin.
Lailah - Small, Gamma World
A planet tidally locked with the system’s star, making it near molten on the sun facing side and completely frozen on the side facing away from the sun. Along the vertical equator of the planet however, is a golden zone where large cities can be seen, bathed in a permanent twilight of a sunset that will never end.
Maalik - Small, Delta Tau World
A near molten ball of fire that orbits close to the system’s sun. It has little to no value.
Zephon - Large, Delta Tau World
A massive tropical planet that is covered in a near global jungle. Thousands of species of flora and fauna are native to this planet and all most all of them are hostile to humans. Life on the jungle world is tough but it can provide many natural resources needed for the war efforts and some of the most hardened regiments come from Zephon. Many have drawn parallels between Zephon and Catachan.
