Are there any good Zoids Video games?

I've been getting interested in the universe and having ideas of making a ttrpg campaign around it.

Definitely.

I recommend the Zoids Vs Series for the GameCube (Zoids vs 2 was renamed Zoids Battle Legends in the west). Zoids vs 3 just got an English patch on the zoids subreddit.

The zoids saga series RPGs for the GBA. Zoids Legacy is in English and I believe one of the later saga games also got an English patch recently.

Zoids Full Metal Crash (GameCube) and Zoids infinity blast (Nintendo Switch) are fun 1v1 arena fighters like mortal kombat.

Which is the best Zoids anime series?

That’s tough to say.

Chaotic Century is my favorite. The dub isn’t the best but it makes it sort of charming like that.

New century Zero is just a fun ride. Stakes aren’t as high but the characters are fun and it’s the best formula to sell zoids kits.

Fuzors is the black sheep of zoids animes. It’s not awful but I’m not terribly interested in the characters. The animation was a downgrade from NCZ. I like some of the ideas they did and the new 3D models were fun. But it needs budget and better direction.

Genesis is cool. I enjoy it but I think it could have been shrunk down to 30 episodes rather than 50. Otherwise it’s a cool anime and I wish the dub would be released.

Wild is a mixed bag. Not a fan of the beyblade art style but the characters are engaging, the villain is the best in all of zoids, and it’s the only zoids anime to actually kill a good guy. Seriously watch episode 13. The battle is amazing and the writing of grief in the following episode is shocking.

Wild Zero is a spiritual successor to CC. The battles look amazing and it’s got some of my favorite new Gen zoids (omega Rex is bae). The characters aren’t as interesting as Wild but it’s a great ride with amazing battles.

Wild Senki is basically a commercial series. Just 3-4 minute episodes of straight zoid action. No characters no plot and ya know what? It works and it’s cool.

CC will always be my favorite I think but there’s not a bad zoids anime imo. Pros and cons to all 7

RZ-029 “Midnight Sworder”

Pilot: Rhine Hawk

Affiliation: Eisen Dragoon

A custom Storm Sworder owned by Captain Rhine Hawk of the Hawk Pirates. Said to have been based on stolen technology from the Storm Sworder Stealth. This zoid is outfitted with experimental tech that was acquired by illegal means.

"Night Fury" Plasma Railcannon

This weapon fires clouds of iron fillaments that are converted into energized plasma via an incredible powerful laser in the chamber. The plasma is then shunted via magnetic rails and fired at seven times the speed of sound. The impact is enough to force the plasma completely through heavy armor and shatter lighter Target. Each canister holds enough filaments for 7 shots.

Extreme Low Altitude HiMAT

At low altitudes the massive booster array on the Midnight Sworder's back disengages and couplings holding them in place unlock, turning that array into a series of very, very mobile thrusters. The Extreme Low Altitude High Manueverability Attitude Thrusters allow for insanely tight turns, rapid changes in orientation or attitude, and even motion in directions beyond purely forward. More extreme maneuvers will, of course, put intense strain on the pilot, but utilizing these to their fullest can put the Midnight Sworder on an even playing field with the most agile of hovering Zoids in close to the ground combat.

Captain Rhine Hawk is head of a pirate crew, sailing the seas and skies of Zi aboard a custom Whale King. After losing a duel to a Wolff Muroa she pledged her loyalty to him.

Her body is covered in scars from her various battles in her life. The only one she keeps always covered is on her neck. As a child she was used as a test subject for neural implants. She feels this scar was a sign of her weakness. Having earned her later scars through choices she made herself as a free soul.

She has something of a rivalry with Sapphire Tripp, the only other female aerial pilot in the Eisen Dragoon. Frequently teasing the younger pilot and using her to heighten her skills as a zoid pilot.
