Showrunner Katharina Eyssen shared another picture with parts of a script she is currently editing for the third season of The Empress (2022).

Translation/Transcription

Elisabeth and Ida are sitting in the carriage to Vienna. Ida is looking out the window, biting her lip. Elisabeth watches her.

Elisabeth: I know you* couldn't understand why I didn't want to receive Andrássy.

Ida: No, I understand you*.

Elisabeth frowns. What is up with Ida? When the carriage suddenly comes to a halt, Elisabeth is confused. A moment passes.

Elisabeth: Why are you* stopping here?

She looks out the window. An open field, a small chapel with a cemetery behind it.

Elisabeth: We aren't in Vienna yet. Where are the other [unreadable, maybe carriages]?

Elisabeth stays calm but firm when she adresses the coachman through the window.

Elisabeth: Did we take a wrong turn?

Production on the third and final season of The Empress (2022) is moving forward with showrunner Katharina Eyssen teasing that filming will start soon.

Ich habe die Serie auf einer Webseite (nicht sehr legal) gefunden. Was denken Sie? Auf dieser Seite schauen oder warten? (Ich will nur Staffel 4 schauen und sie wurde nie in meinem Land angezeigt)

Soweit ich weiß, gibt es die vierte Staffel mit englischen Untertiteln beim australischen Sender SBS online umsonst, allerdings braucht man einen australischen VPN dafür. Das erscheint mir tatsächlich momentan die einzige legale, mehr oder weniger kostenfreie Variante zu sein.

As far as I'm aware, the fourth season is available for free on Australia's SBS on demand service, however you will need an Australian VPN to access it. To me, this seems like the only legal and more or less free way of watching the season right now.

The fourth and final season of Sisi (2021) is available with English subtitles for streaming at Australia's SBS.

This is a bit off topic but the production company behind Sisi (2021) as well as one of the producers have started filming their new project Mozart/Mozart about the Mozart siblings. Since they are once again filming in Latvia and Lithuania, I already saw that hair and make up stylist Aija Beata Rjabovska is working on this as well. I assume other Sisi crew members could be working on it too. The series is expected to air in December 2025.

Best dressed Elisabeth "Sisi" of Austria - Vote

I always wanted to do a Best Dressed vote and matching gif sets, and well now the time has come. I've decided to start with Elisabeth of Austria aka Sisi/Sissi because she is portrayed in so many adaptations in recent years.

I'm sorry if I'm missing some but those are the ones I can gif right now. If you know another one, drop it in the comments and I will try to do an honorable mentions gif set of that adaptation as well.

Showrunner Katharina Eyssen shared some insights on her revising the first draft of The Empress' third season scripts and what is on her vision board for some of the characters.

Looking at it from this perspective, I agree with you. I think I have been kinda blinded by my dislike for this way too perfect Elisabeth. She is the character I actually like the least i the series because she feels teflon coated to me. Only thing that currently excites me about her is how they will handle Andrássy and her. I kinda don't trust the series to not turn it into a love affair but it would also be the series where I can least believe her cheating on Franz Joseph.

Sophie is a far more compelling character in my opinion and yeah, I wonder too what they will do with her. I mean they kinda retconned Ludovika to be a more caring mother for the second season, so who knows what they might do for Sophie.

It is still surprising to me that 2009's Sisi is in my opinion the most compelling take on her so far when that series is pretty kitschy as well.

I think they don’t want to risk continuing without Maximilian because the finale will most likely revolve around his death. Plus, it would be hard to sustain the great love between Sisi and Franz when, in reality, there wasn’t one.

I still had hoped they would at least try to show Elisabeth escaping court on her own terms since her being that independent free-thinking "not-like-other-girls" woman is their whole thesis.

Anyhow, with The Empress ending a whole Sisi era in German TV and cinema is ending as well. I think it will take some time until someone will try their hands at her story once again. That Maximilian & Charlotte series also seems to have never made it past the development stage. Or at least I haven't heard anything new in years.
