it's gotta be great to be a like casually worshipper of an apocalyptic god of destruction and evil. like every time something awful happens you can just chalk it up as another win for lord blooddeath and smile a little

guys trust me your ocs are 120% prettier when they're beaten and bruised and one step away from death's door as they're left alone in the rain

"Letter of Concerns, never sent, author unknown - circa 10 years Prior To Foundation (P.T.F)"
Little doodle of a doodle of The Horrifying Flesh-Eating Amalgamation. Turns out I can do calligraphy on a drawing tablet - no particular hand used. Also the blood cult church thing has its own calendar system, marking the time before the official founding (P.T.F) and after (Post-Founding, or P.F)

Fun little tidbit about rat fella - he was found as a very young child in an area inhabited mainly by monks and scholars, but none of them were entirely sure what he was and thought at first that he was some sort of strange animal until he began developing rudimentary speech + fine motor skills and they realised he was sapient. The equivalent would be like if a group of aliens or something found a baby and tried to raise it like some kind of injured wild animal, until it was old enough to speak and they realized it was a person.

Sketches of a sopping wet rat creature. Cleanliness is very important to him as a hematophobe who's job involves a lot of blood.

I wanna give opposum guy a "divorce arc" of sorts and have him grow apart from someone he was once quite close to (let's be real it'd probably be platonic in canon but similar vibes) due to moral reasons. And while it'd be totally understandable for someone to go against him because of, y'know, the death cult, I think it'd be funnier for him to have a petty disagreement with someone who's not willing to follow along with his incredibly strict rules and unreasonably high standards and opt to destroy the relationship rather than agree to disagree.

I've never watched it but from what 5 minutes of research have told me about the ancient ones and the plot, it is kinda like that. Though I'm still undecided as to whether the God communicates with the cult or if it's just a case of " Well we get less earthquakes if we toss it an intern or civilian twice a week".
Opossum dude praying to a dubiously reliable, possibly nonexistent higher power to save him from the very much proven and observable god that lives under the city and craves flesh.

There's one language in the world that has been adapted to five different forms - spoken, written, engraved (tactile), sign (visual) and click based (can either be expressed verbally or with an object to produce simple sound).
Some common folk may only know the verbal form, while others (who have been schooled) may know that as well as the written form. Skilled craftspeople are occasionally able to read the engraved form by feel alone, and it is part of the curriculum in more advanced schools, and is used as an alternative to writing/visual reading for blind students. The engraved form can also be read visually, with slight adjustments to certain characters, and thus is standardised in many aspects of public life. Click-based is used in certain monastic circles where verbal speech is discouraged or relative quiet must be maintained, or for those who are mute but able to hear. Sign is used similarly, but also works for people who can't hear.
