Astarion fanart? do we do that here?? So the hyperfixation has switched again apparently. I was happily drawing slashers and then suddenly got plucked away to Dnd/Baldur's Gate 3 brainrot. On top of that, the character I least expected to like has taken hold of my braincell. I should know better than to assume I won't like a vampire character smh. They've caught me again with the "gaurded asshole turns out to be really sweet" bait again. I can't believe this.

There’s something funny about diving back into Hellsing (Alucard and Anderson specifically) after they’ve been on the back burner of my brain for so long.

Because in highschool you couldn’t pay me to shut up about those two. I couldn’t draw older men well back then though, so I didn’t do much art for them.

And now I return, middle-aged-man skills in tow, ready to do what I could only dream of doing when I was 17.

Tl:Dr - I will be drawing more Anderson and Alucard.

I have to do this. I have to finish what 17 year old me started.

Okay two things I wanna say:

1 - I’m grabbing you and shaking you because this is the best description of their dynamic I’ve ever seen. You have no idea the absolute chokehold these two have had on my brain for nearly ten years.

2 - I would like to elaborate on the “enemies and lovers” thing because yeah I agree with you it does not describe them in the actual show/manga. Me and my friend were purely talking about fanfics and fandom content of them as a ship if that makes sense. (Call me cringe if you want, I do this shit for fun)

In the canon media I’d say they fall under what I like to call the “devoted rivals” trope. It’s beautiful, complex, and I haven’t found an example of that trope that I love more than with them.

As you put, ‘beloved nemesis’ is probably the best term for them.

Yknow I asked someone once if Alucard x Anderson would be considered under the ‘enemies to lovers’ ship trope.

At the time I just didn’t feel like that fit them somehow.

And my friend just goes “No they’re enemies AND lovers. Enemies to lovers implies that they’ll ever stop being enemies. Let’s face it, they’d get bored if they stopped trying to defeat each other.”

Yeah. Yeah I think that’s it.
