The shower

The water runs over me.

Cold, but refreshing.

It’s like fresh rain on my skin.

The floor is cold and plastic

But that’s okay.

Here, I have no responsibilities.

There is no work to be done.

No places to be.

Time is but a social construct.

There is only me, and the running water.

It trickles everywhere.

My arms.

My legs.

My face.

The drops feel like tears, but there are no emotions behind it.

It is simply calm.

I’d like to stay here a while.

And if I stay here long enough, with my eyes closed,

then maybe,

just maybe,

when I open them again,

Things will be just

A little bit different.
