random OC ask: what is an alternate life path your OC might have gone down? how different would their life be if they'd made those decisions instead?

Thanks for the ask :D I'll be answering for my boy Luke, it's going to be a long one, I'm so sorry So, I haven't disclosed much about his story but to make things short, here a little, very simplified summary of events: He was crowned king fucking young bc his parents were killed. Obvi, he didn't rule until much later. After a lot of drama and betrayal, he got together with Paige and they had a daughter together. Now to the issue: The dark age Luke's kingdom was in was the product of a silly ass war. His kingdom is also very isolationistic and he didn't get to rule the way he wanted because he simply was too young and had to rely on what his advisor said. Once the advisor was dead and he managed to overcome his worst days, he got together with Paige who hadn't arrived at the castle by her own will (she was brought there bc she knows medicine). They questioned whether they should be together bc of how Paige got there and how Luke was desperate to have family (as in trusted people he could love). What was the canon solution to the issue? Together, Luke and Paige decided that it would be best for them not to raise their daughter in the castle, that maybe they should try some time apart to see if it was love or not, and that Luke should focus on his duty as king while Paige could make use of her skills and use her talents someplace other than the castle. Thus, Paige left with their daughter and raised her (and the brother she later gave birth to) in the "enemy"'s kingdom (--long story but she's friends with the princess/queen) while Luke tried getting his kingdom into a better place. Results (20 years or so later)? Luke indeed manages to push his kingdom into a golden age, becomes a great bender and a great fighter in general. Paige did become a very successful healer, terribly good with medicine and known for it. Their daughter, Anya, grew into a confident, skilled, young woman who is definitely not the typical xenophobic citizen of her father's kingdom. On top of that, she doesn't know just yet that her father is the king. There arises another issue that would require a whole other history lesson so let's skip to the actual reply to the question :'D Alternative path? When they came up with the solution, there were moments where Luke would beg to come along, to just give up his crown. Paige wouldn't let him bc well it would defeat part of the purpose and also wouldn't be fair to the kingdom. If, however, Luke would have given up the crown, he would have joined Paige and he would have travelled with her. He would have been able to be there for his kids and for Paige, but he would have felt equally lacking. In canon, he feels lacking bc the ones he loves aren't with him and loneliness is a big issue for him. If he had tagged along, though, he would always felt like a failure, he would have felt like he never reached his potential and never fulfilled his destiny. If he had followed, he would eventually have returned to fix his mistake.

random OC ask: say your OC is a love interest (in BG3 or a relationship-heavy game format of your choosing) — what does their first romance or "deepening the relationship" cutscene look like?

Thanks for the ask! This is a really cool one :DDD I'll do this for Luke! I'll actually just recycle and slightly change the first romantic/deepening the relationship scene he had with Paige and translate it into BG3 ehheeheh >:) (I won't make it logical with a class bc my man would technically be a fighter but he does waterbending which isn't really magic but it is in a way) Luke would stand near water when the player sees the exclamation mark above his head. When clicked, they'd see him calmly bending some water. He'd eventually notice the player one way or another, speaking up or watching long enough, and then turn to smile at them. He'd maybe ask what's on their mind before stepping into the water, listening. The conversation would probably be about the adventure and worries, and Luke would probably talk about the flow of time and the way water works the same, saying that it can't flow back, that they can't undo what happened to them, but they can still guide where the river flows, what way they'll take, but insists that they must move forward. He'd turn to the player again, smiling, walking backwards, deeper into the water, tilting his head a bit, going "You should try it...", inviting the player to join him. When the player joins, they'd get some options like splashing some water at him, stepping in deeper into the water, swimming a bit, and things like that. The scene would end with the player maybe sitting on a stone, bathing their feet while Luke is still in the water, sitting there, relaxing, thanking the player, then, for giving it a chance.

random OC ask: what is something about your OC that people wouldn't expect from looking at them?

what are the preconceived notions people might form or have formed about them? how does your OC respond to those notions?

Thanks for the ask! Let's do this for Meissa >:) So there are multiple versions of Meissa - like the villain in the book I'm writing, the god and his reincarnations in Luke's universe, or the opera singer and adoptive father of one of my BG3 tavs (Alamo). However, in all of them, he's a calm but snobbish man who hates most of the world and the people in it. He takes joy in others' failures unless their failures affect Meissa negatively. He likes talking shit. He lives in hate and it's hard to form bonds with him, and when it succeeds, it doesn't mean it's automatically healthy. His distance and hatred for others come from pressure and how he's been raised, never having formed bonds with the ones raising him and no trust in his environment afterwards. He moves and talks in ways that tell how he's putting himself above everyone else, his aura is usually oppressive and often people unconsciously try to please him - only that nothing ever really does and when it does, he rarely shows it. Despite his weakness to form bonds, one thing people definitely do not expect is that he does care. He rarely does and he certainly hates it, but it happens. Many of his versions raise adopted children and he certainly isn't a happy, fun father, but he doesn't know better. He is strict and doesn't leave much room for fun, fails to teach about emotions and is simply quite chaotic with his own behaviour and emotions. But no matter how much he fails as a parent - and this is not to be his apologist, I just like flawed characters - he loves the child he's raising, and he cares, and he sees it as his own, and he wants it to succeed. Additionally, he offers romantic love only to one person and for every version of him it's a woman called Obba. She rejects him each time, but he never feels this love for anyone else and yearns for her in every version, too. He's fine with casual sex - or rather people sexually pleasing him - but if it weren't for Obba, he'd very much consider himself aromantic.

random OC ask: what are some things your OC never leaves home without?

this can be both practical (their typical tools, notable accessories, etc.) and narrative (items that have personal importance to them, etc.)

Doing this for my man Luke :D Thanks for the ask! Let's start with what he wears because this man doesn't leave his room before he's wearing his bandages and pants, his pelt and armour on top, and his fur coat. This is partially because he makes a difference between private and public space, and the way he wants to be perceived by people is in his regal look. He puts a lot of effort into his appearance and image. Accessories are less important to him, he usually has pearls/gems in his hair and wears the chunky earrings but he doesn't need to wear them all the time. He defo also takes his sword everywhere - bc of image and safety, but also bc the one he has later on is an artefact. He keeps a lot more things that have sentimental value and all, but he likes to keep them in his private space. Again, he very much separates work from private life.
