Devotion in all her words.
sadie adler x f!reader because she’s all i think about
Loving Sadie was.. complex, though not in a negative way. Some days she’d hardly leave your side, others you’d be lucky to get a kiss on the cheek. You could hardly blame her, she was still mourning and you respected that. You both stuck with each other through thick and thin, refusing to let go. Especially since you had known each other from the time the Dutch van der Linder gang stuck around. Everything seemed to pass in a blur afterwards, eventually you found yourself living a somewhat simple life.
Most days were relatively calm where you found yourself enjoying the serenity of nature whilst tracking down the latest bounty you had chosen out, others were filled with chaos and gun smoke, the constant threat of death hanging above your head like a violent taunt.. not to mention the days you two were at eachothers throats, exhausted and hungry after ending up at yet another dead end.
No matter how rough life could get, you always loved eachother. Any sharp words said during the day were made up with sincere apologies and gentle touches during the night. When the two of you were found by John, things changed. You two worked from dawn till dusk, barely having time to talk. Despite that, you two found ways to show affection to eachother and eventually it became a game of some sort.
“Thought you might like this.” Sadie whispers as she walks by, giving you a peck on the cheek before slipping something into your hand, giving you no time to react. You snort quietly, shaking your head as you inspected the item she had given you. After peeling away the messily packed newspaper wrapping your gift, your eyes fell upon a page holder designed for your thumb. You roll your eyes, fondly remembering how she often calls you her ‘bookworm’.
The following day, you had already devised a plan. After waking up even earlier than Sadie - an astonishing feat in itself - you carefully sneak to your shared dresser, grabbing her hat. You set it upside down before grabbing your gift of choice, a uniquely designed harmonica, its metallic shell painted with a landscape. You place it inside along with a heartfelt note you wrote earlier. The moment you were finished you got back under the covers, your chest against her back and your arm around her waist.
It only stopped the day she went off with Charles and John after she believed she had located Micah. For the weeks she was gone, an isolating silence filled your life. You repeated the same routine of chores to the point you were certain you could do it with your eyes closed and your hands bound. So when the day of her return came, you were ecstatic. Though your plan of throwing yourself into her arms came at a sudden stop at the sight of her injury.
After many days of her dismissing your concern and calling you a brooding hen more times than you could count, the wound seemed to be taking less of a toll on her. It was mostly healed with a scar beginning to form, which led to her jokes of her being brutally mangled at the hands of a rat. Eventually, your old routines seemed to kick back in.
That was until you two decided it was time to go after John and Abigail’s wedding. You had spent the last few days packing and getting ready for the road. Tonight was the last night you’d be spending on Johns farm for the foreseeable future. Despite the stress of moving, there was a certain calm in the air. Some sort of peace that came with a new beginning.
“I got one last give to give you, darlin’.” Sadie purrs as she gestures for you to sit next to her on the bed. “You’re not gonna pull a dandelion out and blow it in my face again, are you?” You ask half jokingly, to which she shakes her head with a soft laugh. “No, honey, I ain’t that evil.. most of the time.” She shrugs, passing you a wooden box. You raise a brow at her as if to double check before opening it, the sight before you nearly depriving your lungs of air entirely.
Two matching rings. Nothing too fancy, she knew you’d murder her if she got some oversized diamond. “Sadie, I..” You trail off, not even knowing what to say. “I know that we.. can’t exactly get married by law but when has law ever stopped us from doing something, hm? When we get a place of our own, we could invite some folk over, have a nice dinner and an even better night together.” She says with a smile, leaning closer. “I love you. And I know I don’t need some.. hunk of metal to prove it, but it’s something that will always connect us. And that’s all that matters to me.”
That night was better than any better before. And you definitely didn’t get on the road as early as you intended.

intertwined, sewn together.
karlach x fem!reader
reader is implied to be plus sized and shorter than karlach
Your sleep is disturbed by a strange noise, fluttering your eyes open with a quiet groan, your gaze lands on Karlach who's laying on her side, her head propped up by one arm. You finally spot the source of the noise - her tail practically wagging like a dogs, the end tapping against the mattress.
"You woke me up..." You whine, rubbing the sleep from your eyes, a faint smile tugging your lips awkward. "Awwwe, sorry that I got too excited by my wife." She practically beams with joy as she used the title. Your smile broadens into a grin as you shift closer, her chest - once haunted by the faux beat of an infernal engine now replaced by the soothing rhythm of a true heart. A heart earned after dedicated years of searching for a permanent cure.
"Uh-uh-uh.." You tut playfully, placing your index over her lips. "Fiancé, we're not married yet." She rolls her eyes at your teasing, pulling your hand away from her lips before pressing a kiss to the inside of your wrist. "Fiancé, wife, spouse, whatever. I get to love you as much as I want." She drops your hand in favour of cupping your cheeks with both hands, practically squishing your face together.
"I don't appreciate being used as a stress ball." You joke as she squeezes your cheeks, her nails just barely scraping the skin. She trails her hands down to the plush of your hips and - before you could even protest - sets you down ontop of her, your legs between hers and your torso resting onto her abdomen. "I don't want to crush you.." You mumble, your voice muffled by the skin of her chest. "Please, you're half the size of the weapons I used to carry." She raises your hand, pressing her palm to yours. "Light as a feather." She jests, a reference to a previous incident.
She grins proudly at the difference in size, staring for a moment before intertwining your fingers and giving your hand a soft squeeze. "You're adorable." She whispered, resting her other hand on the small of your back. "And perfect, and amazing, stunning.." She presses a kiss to the top of your head between each word as if to emphasise her point. "Gods, I love you." She sighs deeply, staring down at you with lovestruck eyes. "I love you too, Kar."
Each day in your shared home feels like your own personal heaven.

still she tears at my sweater..
oath of vengeance paladin x karlach
mild angst with a sprinkle of fluff because i spoiled u sillies
You began your journey of vengeance after a person close to you was unrighteously killed. After they were dealt with, you were left with a hunger deep in your chest. You filled it by avenging others, but never did it fix your issues. Continuing forth and using yourself as a glorified battle weapon, you have lost who you once were.
"You alright, Soldier?" Karlach approaches you from behind, snapping you out of your thoughts. You blink slowly, your internal voice silencing the moment she draws close. "I am fine. Weary, perhaps." You answer with a dismissive shake of your head yet she seems unconvinced. Sitting down a mere foot away, her gaze never strays away from you.
"Y'know, talking about your problems can help. Eases your burdens." The tone of her voice hints that she speaks from personal experience. You sigh, a thousand thoughts racing through your mind. Lowering your head, you mentally admit defeat and submit to her pseudo-therapy techniques.
"I am.. afraid." You force the words out, her eyes soften yet curiosity lingers. "Afraid that.. I don't know what I am anymore. Who I am. I've.. I've been fighting almost all my life and it's just.. lost its purpose." Uncomfortable silence fills the air. "I am drowning - there is no way out." You whisper, your voice - once commanding and authoritarian now reduced to this.
You are still a child, wielding a sword too big.
Karlach hesitates, unsure of how to approach. "You.. do have a purpose to fight. You fight to protect us, Soldier. Don't forget how you took that hit for me the other say. Hells, you struck down that guy in the blink of an eye - if anything your an inspiration. A show of strength. Yes, you've gone through hell but you've done that and survived. You're still here. Still with me."
You bite your tongue, unable to stop that little smile that creeps up on your lips. For once, your frozen over heart begins to melt. "You really think that?" You look up at her. "Fuck yeah, I do. You're amazing, and not just at fighting. And I will stay here all night and list every great aspect about you if that's what it takes." She says, voice filled with determination. "Thank you. Truly." "Always, Soldier."
You sleep easy that night.

my love, mine all mine..
pure tooth rotting fluff yall
The cabin is filled with a comforting smokey scent carried out from the fireplace, logs cracking faintly as sparks snap in the air. "Why are you still awake?" Karlachs distinct voice snaps you from your thoughts, an almost childish pout on her lips as she stares down at you. "Nothing, love. Go back to sleep." You mumble, resting your head atop her chest, her infernal engine clicking quieter than before.
Never did either of you imagine ending up here in life. She, who spent a decade fighting in the hells. A decade of cruelty, without even a sliver of kindness. You, who spent your whole life yearning for an unachievable future now come true. And now, after a tadpole filled adventure and a few extra less than desired months in Avernus, you'd built a life. Together.
"Only if you also go to sleep.." She grumbles, pulling you impossibly closer as her tail coils around your leg. "Feeling extra clingy tonight?" You tease, smiling against her skin. A clawed hand comes up to gently scratching the back of your neck, mindlessly tracing patterns. "Can't I love my amazing, perfect, stunning spouse?" You practically feel her gaze drilling into your skull. "We're not even married?" You hold back a laugh. "We don't need some stupid ring to say we belong to eachother." She huffs.
"I happen to think rings look quite pretty." You grin widely, raising your head to look up at her. "But.. you're prettier." You add in a sing-songy voice, adoring the way her cheeks turn a deeper red at the compliment. "Well, then you're the prettiest!" She challenged with a proud smile. "Awwe, thank you." You say, knowing that if you continued you'd be in a loop all night along. "Now, go to bed." She says in a playfully commanding voice. "Yes, ma'am." You chuckle softly, practically burying your face in the crook of her neck.
"I love you."
"I love you too!" Her response is instant.

not a lot,
just forever.
karlachs act 1 romance scene reimagined
The night was bordering on silent as you lay on your bedroll, tetering delicately between sleep and consciousness. Just as you close your eyes, the sound of footsteps approaching alarms you. "Hey, soldier." The timbre voice of your companion puts you at ease. "Karlach." You greet her sleepily, managing a soft smile as you push yourself to sit. She lowers herself next to you, shifting as close as her burning heat allows.
"This is nice, isn't it?" She looks down at you, amber eyes filled with a warmth that borders desire - no, longing. A longing to touch and be touched - to love and be loved the same. "Yeah, it is. Really pretty out tonight, too." You glance at her before raising your gaze to the moonlit skies, silver lighting illuminating the trees which surround the camp.
"Ten years without kindness, without touch.." She sighs, her eyes never leaving your face. "And now I have you." Noticing your slightly stunned expression, she quickly speaks again. "Gods, that was forward- not like that, but, you know- your a good friend and-" She pauses at your sudden chuckle, your lips curling upwards into a grin. "Karlach, it's fine. I know what you meant." Her worry melts at your words.
Silence stretches for a moment as the two of you stare at eachother. Slowly, carefully, you make the first move and lean in closer. Quick as lightning, you place a kiss on her cheek, hissing quietly at the burn. "Worth it." You smirk, her eyes crinkle with a mixture of gratuity and worry. "I wish I could just-.." Hundreds of words rush through her mind, one cries out above the others. "..hug you. Feel you in my arms, you know." She sighs deeply. Silence brews once again, yet this time instead of comfort, it's plagued by a sorrowful longing.
"You'll get through this, y'know. We'll get through this. Together." You assure with a kind smile, she returns it. "I know, but- I also don't know, y'know?" Her smile grows uneasy, yet does not falter. "I know what you mean, but.. we'll figure it out. I promise." "Yeah?"
"Yeah."
Oh, how her engine for a heart beats wild as fire around you.
