Tunglsjúkar nætur is a short film I did in collaboration with an Icelandic composer Hafdís Bjarnadóttir (hafdisbjarnadottir.com/). I directed the video and designed, animated all the visual elements. The result is an atmospheric trip through a dreamy landscape.

Aðeins þannig passa ég í heiminn einsog föt af manni sem ég þekki ekki neitt.

Sjálfur ligg ég hér einsog skip á botni hafsins. Ég man ekki hvenær ég sökk en þú getur eflaust slegið því upp í bókum.

Ég mæli með Háskólabókasafninu löngu fyrir daga þessara orða þegar vörðurinn þekkti allar bækurnar og ekki þurfti neina spjaldskrá og því var trúað að skáldið í afgreiðslunni gengi á vatni.

Já einhvers staðar þar, á einhverri blaðsíðu, í einhverri bók finnurðu örlög mín, þú getur jafnvel valið þér bók og kosið mér örlög, en ef þú hífir mig upp sérðu drauma mína, fulla af dýrgripum sem alla tíð hafa tilheyrt þér í öðrum draumi öðru lífi.

For myself, I lie here like a ship at the bottom of the sea. I don’t recall when I sank but you can surely look it up in books.

I recommend the University Library long before these words were written when the Librarian knew every book and had no need of a card-index and the poet at the desk was thought to walk on water.

Yes, somewhere there, on some page of some book, you’ll find my fate – you can even pick a book and choose a fate for me, but if you hoist me up you’ll see my dreams full of treasures that have always belonged to you in another dream, another life.

UBK slathers some Nigel Godrich-style warm, fuzzy, thick distortion on a fat little groove, and in the process show off his patented technique for determining the least amount of an effect that makes a meaningful difference.
