Big Hero 6 and its meaning
Tumblr media
Big hero 6 follows a genius child named Hiro who is unsure what to do with his life and so he uses his technology to illegally bot fight. His brother is unhappy with this and decides to show Hiro around his engineering school in which he shows off Baymax, a medical support robot. Hiro then becomes inspired and wants to join and so designs small robots that can be mind controlled to do anything you'd like them to. He shows them off at the convention for the university but when leaving a fire breaks out and his Hiro’s brother runs back to save his professor, seconds later the building explodes, and he dies.
This breaks Hiro emotionally and he is sent into a slump of not doing anything. This all changes when one day he realises that his technology has been stolen in the fire and there is someone using it. He then forms a group of heroes from his brother's friends at the university, who help him stop the bad guy. Hiro also upgrades Baymax to be able to fly, fight and assist Hiro in his mission. When they fight the bad guy, the team is unsynchronised and have a hard time not messing each other up and doing anything of use. But when his mask is knocked off, he turns out to be the professor from the start who is trying to get revenge for his daughter who got sucked into a vortex by a billionaire who didn’t take proper precautions.
In the final fight the team has begun working together until Baymax detects life within the vortex and so he and Hiro go in to save them, this turns out to be the professor's daughter. Baymax is low on power and can't make it out in time so in a last effort launches Hiro and the daughter out at the expense of being stuck himself. Hiro is heartbroken but later finds the chip to creates Baymax once again.
The main message behind Big Hero 6 is that it is okay to ask for help and that it doesn’t make you weak or any less of a person. And that when in these situations it can be a lot easier to overcome them with friends around to help you through these dark times. Even though Hiro has lost his brother he still refuses to little his cause die with him and strives to make the world a better place.

Toy Story was the PERFECT movie to grow up on
Tumblr media
As a child I’d watch Toy Story most weeks due to the idea that my toys could be alive. I loved my toys and toy story made this love grow every time I watched it as everything, I saw in the movie was how I imagined it being, the surrealism of it was so pure to me. And for that reason, I thank it for being a gateway to my creativity.
And as I’ve grown up the more meaningful parts of the movie have become more obvious to me. The hidden messages are a lot less hidden now that I’m older and I can appreciate it as a great movie, and a great story. The character progression of Woody going from a Toy that always wants to be the center of attention to being some, is selfish and a narcissist to transforming into a caring leader who wants what’s best for everyone. It teaches people that it’s okay to want something for yourself once in a while just as long as it doesn’t affect other people in a negative way. Additionally, it also teaches that while sometimes it's easier to leave someone behind than to help it’ll always feel better to stay together and work through the problem.
Toy Story provides a fun take on how children view their toys, and it sparks creativity while also having its underlying meanings. And even due to its age, I think that the animation and musical score also holds up in the present day. However, I find that more recent animated movies prefer to follow only one main character and true to be relatable to the outlying children than to be a strong movie for all.

Why cars is almost my FAVOURITE animated movie of all time
Tumblr media
For those of you who aren't familiar with Cars let me sum it up. It starts with this rookie driver (Lightning Mcqueen) in a world where cars are living, there’s a race going on and due to his cockiness, it ends in a three-way tie, this leads to a final race being held in 7 days to decide the championship. On the way there Lightning falls out of his truck and gets lost only to destroy a road and end up having to fix it as no one there knows who he is. He is challenged to a race to leave early but slides off the track due to it being on dirt, Doc tells him he must turn right to go left to make the turn, Lightning does not believe this though. Until one day he finds out Doc is a famous racecar and later catches Doc driving and making that very turn. In the town, he begins to befriend the locals and get to know people before one night the town flocks with news crews and he is picked back up in his truck, leaving his newfound friends behind.
In the final race he isn’t doing too good until Doc comes over the radio and tells him to focus, the reappearance of his friends gives him the confidence and motivation to push through. As he catches the other two competitors once again, one pops his tire, and he must pit in which it is the fastest pit stop ever and shocks everyone. On the final lap he is behind the other two when the same person bumps into them sending Lightning off into the grass whilst the other two are sliding around, in this moment he remembers what Doc taught him and saves it gaining the lead in the process. Behind him the same person spins out the other racer sending him flying and tumbling. Upon seeing this lightning stops before the finish line and proceeds to drive back and push the crashed car across the line.
This single act of sportsmanship sends a strong message to children watching it to which it is aimed at, the act of giving up one’s glory for another person to show that not everything has to be done for you and you can make a big difference on other people. And I think that character development is why it’s such a great movie. Lightning goes from being an overconfident and selfish racing driver to being a warmhearted friend.
Another reason I love Cars is the music which fits the mood of each scene. The genre between locations changes, being more country while in radiator springs as a pose to being on a racetrack, this also changes depending who is on screen at the time too. I also like the cover versions of pre-existing songs which give a nice spice of vocals and come off more playfully and memorably.
((I’d like to mention that while it is an amazing movie the How to Train Your Dragon franchise still seals the deal as being my favorite.))

Kung-Fu Panda 4 is One of the BEST Animated movies I've seen in a while
Tumblr media
And I don't say that lightly, I watch a lot of animated movies and a theme I see more and more is that newer animated movies aren't as good as ones released between 1995 and 2016. In terms of perfect animation trilogies three have always came to mind: Cars, How to Train Your Dragon and Kung-Fu Panda. So when I hear a fourth Kung-Fu Panda was coming out I became worried that it would ruin the franchise as all the previous movies were great.
The day it came out I rushed to the cinema and got one of the first viewings of the day, and as soon as the first seen started I suddenly felt that feeling of nostalgia that I've missed for so long. And once I walked out after the movie I was overwhelmed with joy and the first words I spoke were "That score was amazing" and yet while those words shouldn't have been my first, I still feel very strongly towards that. Like many Dreamworks movies the soundtrack is what enhanced the feeling of the movie and lead the action and set the tone. The score was made by Hans Zimmer and Steve Mazzaro, both of whom are strong picks to enhance the movie, and made me feel a sense of joy every time I heard notes start playing.
The story in itself flowed really well and and I felt like no one part was boring and got me uninterested, as well as the new characters being introduced having the same flare and personality I'd expect from any animated movie.
But I think that the finale for me was the cherry on the top for me, in this scene everything I loved about this movie came together and made one of my favourite scenes in a movie I've ever seen. Everything from the fighting to the music was all on point and worked together in harmony. And while I would have preferred for Po to be the one to defeat The Chameleon I still think that Zhen defeating her brought the story full circle and in a way was a way for her to heal and redeem herself from backstabbing Po. And then the part that brought a tear to my eyes, when all of the villains are let out of their cages and surround Po and kneel, accepting that he is the best dragon warrior. Even Tai Lung, who after all this time of hating Po for being the dragon warrior when he believed he was destined for it, even then he still kneeled to Po and respected him for defeating The Chameleon.
On top of all this, the ending felt like it was hinting towards a potential 5th movie focused more on Zhen, and while I still don't know how I feel about that, I'm still looking forward to how it may play out and have high hopes that they won't ruin the franchise with a bad ending.
