Sunday spindle spinning

I got myself some milkweed with lots of bast fibers coming off!!! This is butterfly milkweed from a well established plant, stems were left exposed to the elements all winter. I don't remember off the top of my head who worked with milkweed fiber a year or two ago (@comfortabletextiles ?) But I'm gonna try to process and spin a little bit of milkweed cord!

Crafty friends inside my phone. The time has come once again for you to influence my purchasing habits. I want some rolags to take away with me when I go to Torquay in July, during tour de fleece. I’ll be taking Margo with me, hence rolags. So I have been browsing fellfiew fibres. The shop is closed at the moment while she catches up with orders, but I want to have my decision ready for when she opens up again. And of course, I would buy out her entire collection if I was rich. But I’ve narrowed down my options to ten. I may buy two sets, we’ll see how my bank account looks when the time comes.

Mochi Bharat is form of embroidery which was originally done on leather from Barmer district of Rajasthan in India. The cobblers used to prepare leather footwear by chain stitch and decorate them with chain-stitch needlework which gradually evolved into the distinct form of Mochi Bharat embroidery. These days, hand-spun and hand woven khaddar is also used as base materials instead of leather. The base colors are usually in darker shades of blue, red and black. Embroidery is worked with an untwisted cotton or silk thread called pat. The needle used for is called ari, which is very fine awl, having a small notch just above the point to form a hook. Birds, animals, and florals are the main motifs used.

When your mom asks for her own Iris quilt after making one for someone else, but wall hanging size… (queen size one at the end). First one I designed because I couldn’t find an Iris pattern that seemed to work for what I needed. Smaller one has a second flower).

I'm genuinely disappointed and horrified about the hh-m news. The cottagecore to transphobia pipeline is real, huh, and basic respect for people doesn't exist. Should I check every single blog I follow or interact with for their secret opinion on trans people? Or if they had an old terf blog they buried? Or a sideblog? Or a comment in a youtube video they deleted later? How about every single blog that follows me. How about every commenter on my AO3 stories. How about that.

Please, please everyone: if you notice me reblogging from TERF or cryptoTERF blogs, tell me. I don't want to be around such people.
