Syrian success in liberation gives me so much hope as a Ukrainian. Every day we hear people say to us "Forget about the 1991 borders". Politicians are cowardly protecting status quo and legitimating russian invasion of a sovereign country. And here go Syrians, the ones who were completely forgotten and ignored by the world. Syrians who are fighting the oppressive regime, freeing their land, destroying the status quo. I'm so proud and happy for them 🥹

Ukrainian kid's letter to Saint Nicholas:

"Hello, my name is Eva Heneral. I'm from Kherson region, Hola Prystan town. Our picturesque town is located near the sea, we used to often go there to swim, walk, breath sea air. But when the war has started, early in the morning we went to the grandparents' village, I saw missile flying over us, quickly, loudly. For some time we lived in the village, then mom said we need to go, take only necessities, and drive somewhere. We were driving for the long time, got stopped by russians, they took away our potato pies that grandma gave us for the road.

In a few days we arrived in Kryvyi Rih, we're still staying there. Every day, when I go to bed, I think about our house, kindergarten I attended, playground, our beautiful pier. All of that is gone now, mom said that we got flooded by Kakhovka Dam, our town is still occupied, russians live in grandparents' house, and grandma and grandpa came to us. I want the war to be over, I want to go home.

We also figured out—the hard way—that the ancients probably cut each layer of linen to the proper shape before gluing them together. For our first linothorax, we glued together 15 layers of linen to form a one centimeter-thick slab, and then tried to cut out the required shape. Large shears were defeated; bolt cutters failed. The only way we were ultimately able to cut the laminated linen slab was with an electric saw equipped with a blade for cutting metal. At least this confirmed our suspicion that linen armor would have been extremely tough. We also found out that linen stiffened with rabbit glue strikes dogs as in irresistibly tasty rabbit-flavored chew toy, and that our Labrador retriever should not be left alone with our research project.
