Today, my heart is heavy as we say goodbye to a woman who inspired so many Ananda Lewis.
I grew up admiring her not just for her work on MTV or Teen Summit, but for the way she carried herself. Ananda always brought truth, depth, and grace to everything she touched. She used her platform to uplift others, speak boldly, and always keep it authentic.
What always touched me most was how deeply she loved her friends especially her bond with Aaliyah. The way she spoke about her, honored her memory, and carried that love even years after Aaliyah’s passing that showed who Ananda was at her core. Loyal, loving, and full of light
Her fight with breast cancer reminded us of her strength. Even in the most difficult moments, she still gave raising awareness, encouraging early detection, and urging women, especially Black women, to take care of their health.
Rest in Paradise, Ananda. Your light touched millions. Your voice changed lives. And your spirit will live on in our hearts, in our memories and in the legacy you’ve left behind. My heart is so so heavy right now </33
