PLOT SUMMARY

Several singularities damage cities in parts of the world which erect a supernatural presence known as “specters.” (ghosts) Tensions run high in the UN as the United States withholds scientific information which has allowed them to manipulate the phenomenon. On the brink of World War III — ghosts haunt the singularity zones with no weapons in existence to fight them.

TERMINOLOGY

Specters   x   An odd compound of condensate that is nearly invisible to the naked eye. The specters are apparitions — ghosts from a realm akin to the afterlife. They seek out anything with living organs and attempt to interact with them. This interaction is harmful if not fatal in all cases. Contact with a specter typically leaves the impacted with a rare and explainable degenerative disease that rapidly ages their internal organs. Prolonged contact results in a quarter nuclear explosion due to matter collision and rejection which has been documented to level entire cities. Those with the degenerative disease will also explode post-mortem. 

The Weatherhurst Group  x  A scientific organization founded by the Weatherhurst family decades ago and made famous by Noble Prize winner, Marianne Weatherhurst who published her work on the proof and findings of an afterlife. ( 1993 ) The Weatherhurst Group is a government funded research group that is highly secretive and heavily protected by the United States Government. Almost all of their research is under lock & key. 

The Anchors  x  In 1996 The Weatherhurst Group collected children in a campaign led across the globe by Marianne Weatherhurst herself. This collection of children was based on previous medical history and she recruited them based on their prior diagnosis of rare disease or abnormally powerful organs. She brought these children between the ages of six and ten to a blacklist facility where she killed and revived them repeatedly for months in order to establish a link to the other side. These children became known as THE ANCHORS. So long as they are alive, the singularities are shackled to Earth. 

Their status as ANCHORS also allows them an odd relationship with the specters. They’re able to manipulate the specters and depending on their level or grade of infliction, are able to take on some of the likeness of the specters by will. Infliction is determined by the amount of sustained death during the program’s operation period in which the child was killed and how long they remained dead before being revived. Children who were flat lined for three minutes will be more susceptible to specter influence than those that sustained one minute duration flat lines.

The Anchor’s abilities range from being able to turn nearly invisible, manipulate specters, limited range teleportation and explosive touch. They are also able to infect people with the same disease as the specters upon contact. This is more prominent in stronger or higher grade Anchors. 

Slowdive  x  Before someone is able to connect with the singularity zones, they must undergo a procedure called “slowdive” in which they are voluntarily, clinically declared deceased and then resuscitated. The passing from the physical realm into the spiritual and then back again allows those who have slowdived a relationship more often than not with the specter presence.

LOGAN THOMAS VIDAL

Grew up in foster care most of his life or jumping from family to family. Logan was deemed a “problem child” early on and enlisted in the military to get away from group homes. When it came time to go stateside he instead found any reason to remain in service. It resulted in several tours and several units. He worked his way up rank until after The Valley Incident. He returned home to California and eventually left to live in the Nevada desert away from anyone who knew him. He became a pool cleaner for local motor courts and worked for money under the table while living in a camper.  Until, Mr. Duprey knocked on his door. As Logan remembers 1996, he went away to Summer Camp but does not recall ever being part of the program “Orphan Dead.” He’s described as a flirty alcoholics who never takes anything seriously and covers up his insecurity with mild humor.

ELEANOR MAE BISHOP

Nora Bishop was born wealthy and ripe for success. Where she couldn’t succeed money would prevail. Every inch of her education and path was a business deal to be negotiated by her parents. She was overwhelmed with Ballet, choir recital, and advanced studies. She learned over twenty instruments and performed in several award winning opera’s in her early twenties. When Uncle Sam came knocking, Nora’s parents could not deny Nora’s selection as a prime candidate in 1996. Nora has since graduated from two different ivy league colleges and began her employment at the Pentagon as an analyst for The Weatherhurst Group. She has worked with them for several years now as a vital asset. Now, Nora must recruit Marianne’s former patients from 1996 while being fully aware that she was once one of them.

ANTONIO “TONY” DUPREY

There aren’t many public records of Mr. Duprey outside of his job title. It’s known that Tony spent time in the military and was recruited into the CIA early on becoming a decorated cyber defense analyst. His degree in psychology served him well to work with disadvantaged youths in his local community. He is married and has two daughters. He is a Virginia native and is now employed by the Pentagon after assuming control of the Weathhurst Group. Currently Tony Duprey is tasked by the government to recruit former patients of Marianne who were under her care in 1996.

JACKSON FAIRVIEW

Jack was born in Texas and served as a secret service employee for several years. He was part of the detail in 1963 during the shooting of John F. Kennedy and recalls his last moments spent with the family. From President to President, Jack served faithfully and loyally before pursuing his dreams of office in an election which he became runner-up. After which he endorsed his opponent and was employed as Secretary of Defense. Jack has followed Marianne’s work very closely and was the very man who stamped approval on her funding for Project Orphan Dead. During her disappearance it was Jack who placed Duprey at the head of the Group to continue her work.

MARIANNE WEATHERHURST

55 x weatherhurst family matriarch x missing

Born in 1965 to the wealthy Weatherhurst family, Marianne’s tutelage at an early age consisted of academic study and performing arts. She was praised for public speaking and her gifted mind; able to memorize entire textbooks and recite them upon will. It was this brilliant gift that drove her, coupled with her obsessive nature, to define what we determine as “the afterlife.” In her pursuit for answers she more than discovered what humanity had fought so hard to decipher. Marianne’s research was officially published in 1992 providing details and evidence along with mountains of research about what happens when humans die. She destroyed religion over night and was awarded the Nobel Prize in the following year, 1993.

 With government funding Marianne continued her pursuit in 1996 when she founded Project Orphan Dead. She recruited children under the age of twelve with abnormally powerful organs. The project was black label and to be kept off books and away from public record. During her practices she killed and revived more than one-hundred children between 1996 and 1998. When the project was disbanded and her research ultimately put to an end, the lab in Vermont was attacked in a staged terrorist attack in an effort to prevent any further research. In 2012 the first singularity ripped Lebanon in half and the specter presence was born, in the same year Marianne Weatherhurst disappeared without a trace and to this day has not been heard from nor sighted.
