The Official “Log Off” Protest F.A.Q!
The “Log Off” protest is in response to the recent NSFW ban announced by Tumblr. The ban flags all content the filtering system detects as NSFW, reducing visibility to the community. The system has proven time and time again that is inefficient, oftentimes flagging SFW material as NSFW.
This SFW material includes art, memes and so on. This ban directly hurts the community and will not solve the actual problems at hand due to the poor flagging system. Because of this, the entire community will suffer.
So to respond, I propose that every user on Tumblr logs off of Tumblr for 24 hours on December 17th at 12 am EST.
Times are listed above depending on timezone!
This post responds to some very common questions about the protest. So make sure to read it over!

ExoSpace Lore Note #9

[Image Reads: Lore Note #14: Credits are mainly a digital currency in the galaxy, but when physical transactions need to be made, credit chits are usually used. They're basically scannable coins that can be charged with credits in intervals of 10 and are the main physical currency, usually listing in a digital screen on the back how much it's been charged with.
Each chit can only go up to about 999 credits each, so, they're often used in bulk. Counterfeiting credit chits is considered a major crime in the galaxy, enough to get a swift posting on the BountyNet if not immediately apprehended, and can usually be sniffed out by a little dot on the screen that lights up when the credit chit has been opened/tampered with, or if the metal used in it isn't the same one that's used strictly by the Alliance's banks.
The Cartel also accepts credits as their currency out of necessity, as they've realized a government of pirates and criminals can't necessarily handle their own monetary system and there's less scandals and counterfeiting when a more trustworthy government handles the galactic currency.
However, the Cartel also deals in alternative currencies that are more widely used on planets with looser Alliance control, like Magnagems, Rough Marks, or even raw resources. These can be exchanged to credits if need be and are often used by merchants, the impoverished, or space pirates. ]

ExoSpace Lore Note #8

[Image reads: Lore Note #10:
War technology in ExoSpace isn't a perfect science and isn't 100% high tech like in universes such as Star Trek or Star Wars. Old technologies are used just as commonly as new ones on the battlefield.
For example, the typical ballistic armament on ships is referred to as a blazegun, derived from the fact that its ammo consists of superheated rods that will puncture starships like literal hot butter. Regular bullets tend to be poor in zero-g and against spaceships.
There's also more energy gun variants, such as on the Terminus. The Terminus has two front-facing lightblitzers, a yellow, glowing molten plasma in a glass case that causes minor splash damage on ships upon impact. On the rear is a storm cannon, a large mounted cannon that's manually operated (usually by Keira) and fires arcs of electric energy that conducts and tears through metal like paper.
The main thing about space weapons in ExoSpace is that due to zero-g, they tend to require a way to still be effective in a vacuum. The lightblitzers are essentially like the blazeguns, they just use hot plasma instead of heating up metal rods. And the storm cannon is intended to arc on the metal of enemy ships and thus doesn't need to be incredibly accurate, not to mention functions similar to a lightbulb and takes advantage of the vacuum of space. Regular, unexposed lasers wouldn't quite work well in zero-g and most ships can resist those. Hence why most ammo is creatively put together like that, and tends to use the lack of air resistance or gravity to their advantage.
The Maz'jok themselves use anti-electricity in their ship's weapons, firing similar to Star Wars blasters, just more jagged and red looking with black cores. Anti-electricity functions similar to the storm cannon but operates more like a blazegun or lightblitzer. It relies on positronic bursts, which a lot of ship shielding won't be able to resist due to its antimatter properties. ]

ExoSpace Lore Note #7

[Image Reads: Lore Note #9:
While the warp engine's creation revolves around the meteor of 1982, I'm never going to give a straight answer on how it works as to not risk debate from physicists and theorists, because in the grand scheme of things, it's kinda not worth wasting brain power over and I don't consider myself intelligent enough to explain how it can function outside of being able to warp spacetime around the ship for faster-than-light travel. So, if anyone asks how they created the warp engine, tell them this is my Word of God on it.

ExoSpace Lore Note #6

[Image reads: Lore note #8:
English is called Exotesh in the larger galaxy. While nigh identical to English found on Earth, it has its own slang terms that aren't found on Earth, such as:
-Jethauler (A coward, someone who warps the first second of danger)
-Slicer (A bounty hunter)
-Credless (A term to refer to the poor and homeless)
-May the stars guide your way (may your travels be safe)
-Orbit-locker (A similar term to land-lubber, someone who doesn't actively travel the stars and has never been offworld)
-Stuffer (A politician that's "stuffed" full of money to push an unideal agenda.)
-Bi-dealing (Betraying)
-Tripper (Someone who sells drugs)
-Kothfucker (Someone who fucks a skunk-like alien beast, used interchangeably with motherfucker)
-Credlock (A bank)
-Dossbrain (A stubborn idiot, someone whose brain runs on VERY old hardware.)
There's more terms than this, but Exotesh is mainly English for the most part. ]

ExoSpace Lore Note #5

[Image Reads: Lore note #7: The Opifexians are a lost, yet techologically superior race to the galaxy, but weren't actually originally from here. While their original galaxy is unknown and largely left to conjecture, our galaxy was supposedly created by them through a miraculous machine known as the "star engine" that created the Milky Way.
Afterwards, they seeded the galaxy with millions of races in their image, each with special adaptations to their homeworlds. (That's why you see so many bipeds and humanoids in the galaxy.) While it's not proven, many scientists believe they have given all their "seeded" races the necessary genetic building blocks that would one day evolve to create warp travel. In other words, the Milky Way itself was supposedly one big experiment by the Opifexians - to see what happens when similar races discover the stars and realize they're not alone.
It should be noted that every race except the Exoborns have created their warp travel naturally through scientific research. Earth discovered it too early through the Meteor of 1986, and became a volatile variable in their equation. While it's mostly conjecture, some believe the Opifexians had a probe rigged to bless a race with warp travel early, one that could oppose their greatest mistake - the Maz'jok. And the Exoborns are not just any other race - they're human, after all.

ExoSpace Lore Note #4

[Image reads: Lore Note #4:
There are three major powers in the galaxy, almost to correspond to each explored and mapped quadrant; BetaCorp, the Exoborn Alliance, and the Crucible Cartel.
BetaCorp mostly dominions over the Hestia Quadrant, with shared power with the Exoborn Alliance. The Alliance themself centralizes in the Ferus Quadrant but also moderates the Hestia and Satus Quadrants, with a bit of pioneering in the Caligo Quadrant, mostly on the edge of it. The Cartel makes its homeworld on El Halago, but has its arms in every quadrant, having a majority of power over criminals, space pirates, hired guns, and overall thugs that travel the stars. The Exoborn Alliance created its own bounty hunter program, the BountyNet, to keep the Cartel in check, but bounty hunters are known to take contracts from both sides, their loyalty mainly in either themselves or the Bounty Hunter's League.]

ExoSpace Lore Note #3

[Image Reads: Lore Note #3:
Exoborns are NOT the equivalent of humans in modern-day society, at least genetically speaking. The exoborns have become very immune to a number of intergalactic diseases and infections due to their years spent in space, and not to mention have slightly hardier skeletons and bodies due to their constant shifts in gravity, whether it be in space or on a planet with a higher gravity. A homeborn could theoretically survive in exoborn space, but they'd need a boatload of vaccines first and some training to prevent their bones getting sore from the gravitational default for exoborns in artifical gravity environments.
It's also questionable if homeborns and exoborns are still able to procreate due to their very slight genetic difference. Since nobody has tried in well over 500 years... impossible to say for certain right now, and thus, best left ambiguous. Either way, exoborns naturally gravitate to being a lot stronger, faster, and tougher than the average modern-day human. Even Dex would be considered a peak-performance athlete if he was held to modern-day standards.]

Laser swords will NEVER be a thing in ExoSpace. The technology is not only incredibly hard and probably impossible to make, but I'm afraid of making ExoSpace into the equivalent of the Star Wars Prequels. Introduce one laser sword, everything else becomes a rave.
