Anything by this author is good, but these two stories are great:
And this story is good:
Hopefully direct links don't crash on you!
Not many things are bringing me joy lately, I’m going through a bit of a rough patch and it’s probably why I’ve been obsessing over The Handmaid’s Tale and how horrible that last season was. I’ve been trying to detach myself from it, I stopped my re-watch and I am trying not to engage with social media posts I don’t agree with.
One thing that’s been uplifting and joyful is reading and writing fanfics. It’s comforting and it’s easing the pain of my favorite ship and favorite character going up in flames (literally).
My current favorite is Until You See Me by @just-b-wilde I’ve also read all their THT fics 😌 I literally kick my feet and giggle with every update.
If you have any Osblaine or alternate ship fanfics to recommend please comment or reblog 🫶🏽 I started looking on Ao3 but it keeps crashing on my phone.
Also, someone at my work said “don’t let the bastards grind you down” yesterday and I fired up Teams so fast to message them 😅

June in 1x08: "I don't know anything about you." Nick in 6x06 in a flashback set between 1x05 and 1x06: "I didn't go to college. My Mom wanted me to, but she left when I was 11, so I didn't have much of a life."
While this was clearly just yet another narrative inconsistency that became increasingly common as the show went on (in my view this is the kind of detail that Nick may have opened up about in the Globe as he would want their child to know about her family on his side and even then I'm not sure he'd have disclosed it due to how much it hurt and how traumatizing it was, unless it was done during a discussion about Hannah and how Nick still loves his mother very much), the fact is that the writers decided to have him opening up in the early part of his and June's relationship, only for her to complain about not knowing anything about him even though he has now canonically disclosed something excruciatingly painful to her right from the very beginning.
As a result that ultimately shows that June never cared about Nick the person, but rather only what Nick could do when it came to her. A terrible childhood doesn't do anything for her, ergo she doesn't consider it significant enough or something worth remembering or caring about, and so she complains about not knowing anything about him, implying she only cared about knowing about his connections and what he could do for her and not about Nick himself.
Yet I doubt that's what they intended back in S1. During S1 they clearly intended to portray that Nick was scared to open up and that despite his clearly growing love for June that he was terrified about what those emotions meant, and that June was opening up to him and yearned for the same from him. The first season's version of June was not so cold or dispassionate about Nick like we increasingly saw over seasons 5 and especially 6, and she would have been kind and empathetic about such a fact and would have remembered it as it's something that has shaped Nick. Nick's survivalist personality and his trauma resulted in him locking things down and keeping things close to his vest, only really starting to open up to June in 2x06 after she nearly died. After that event, he discloses that he constantly thinks about the kind of life they could have, and the implication would be that he opens up to her further following that event in the brief moments they could steal together.
But unfortunately June acting like she knew nothing about him can now be seen as her not giving a fuck about his life, family, or trauma, and it's truly so sad for Nick as he was never fully seen and loved like he deserved to be.
I truly can't believe that they annihilated June's character like this. It just beggars belief, honestly. They destroyed the show with this season.

Not to sound like an old Old^tm, but it is so hard to find actually fashionable clothes and shoes in store anymore. Everything is hideous in some way or another, what with the weird ruffles, unflattering and uncomfortable cuts, bland "colours", vaguely sofa-like patterns, and being either too short or not short enough.
I just want normal clothes; normal slightly fitted t-shirts in nice colours, graphic tees, knee length shorts and skirts, and knee-length somewhat fitted dresses. And yet none of that is in store anymore. I resent the idea of having to buy clothes on fucking amazon, but I may end up resorting to it.

This is going to sound so "oldie yells at cloud" of me but the radicalisation of the young into black and white, zero shades of grey thinking, both in the media they consume and in real life situations, is genuinely terrifying.
The world is complex. The world is grey. There is infinite nuance in everything. No amount of trying to shove it all into neatly labeled boxes is ever going to work.
