           Yanyou comments on the boy’s question with a reproachful click of his tongue. The talisman they adapted together is flawless and will definitely do its job, although admittedly that isn’t due to the extra lines Yanyou scribbled onto the paper but due to the magic he attached to it as bait. The boy doesn’t need to know that, however, and Yanyou decides to keep his game up a little longer.      “Of course it will work! Are you doubting my EXPERTISE in this field? Attracting ghosts and talking to them is my profession. I should know what I’m doing,” he says, gesturing toward the fancy robe he put on for the occasion. It’s usually what sells his made-up stories: the mysterious outfits he copies from real fortune tellers or psychics (well, as real as they are in the Mortal Realm) that cater to whatever ideas the mortals have about someone with a connection to the spheres of the mystic.

His act is pure NONSENSE, of course, but it’s good enough for having a bit of fun while he’s here. Plus, if this young cultivator is as promising as he looks, he will actually be able to deal with the demon that is causing trouble in this area. If not.. well, after calling the thing here he won’t abandon his young friend without lending a hand, but he’d prefer not to blow his cover just yet.      “You’re really brave coming out here all by yourself to investigate this matter. Are you charging the town for saving it? Or are you doing this out of the good of your heart?” It’s audible in Yanyou’s tone that he isn’t expecting the latter to be the case. It’s not that he doesn’t believe in the good in people, it’s just that he doesn’t often actually encounter it, neither here nor up in the Heaven Realm.
