Talk to me (2022)
Directors : Danny & Michael Philippou
Screenplay: Bill Hinzman , Danny Philippou, Daley Pearson
Runtime: 1.35
"What you mean, 'sucking your foot?"
This movie is great for a party of horror movie lovers (specifically the BlumHouse types, but dont let that discourage those who are into something fresher than that). Speaking of, the dialogue is not only authentic when it comes to teenagers in this day, but gives a sense of comedy (Loved Miranda Otto) that contrasts evenly with the disturbing events. Foreshadowing gives away the theme early on in the beginning a bit obviously. There may be some typical tropes that many ghost movies have, but they tie in with the characters motives and intentions or is properly and artistically demonstrated. Once the inciting incident occurs, some may find it possibly predictable. This, by no means, drags or fails the story though. When its not focusing on the loss and disaffect of the MC (Sofie Wilde's great btw), its giving you gory jump scares (beats that boom mic for u blumhouse residents), nasty scenes ("i cant tell if thats James or the dog. Open a window") and showing you how easy it is to go crazy/how the land of their dead works (its always fun to see that!). There were some moments that progressed the story that made me think "howd she get away with doing that without someone seeing?" But one is more noticeable than the other. The mystery of the hands origin is theorized and honestly, adds the sense of realism with it being unknown. Especially when they are trying to undo their mistakes to the best of their knowledge. Its always great to see a character try to play the game rather than ignore the supernatural as the audience waits for the next jumpscare. With the movie being an hour an a half, it wastes no time. Its a fun horror thats going to be a go to slumber party flick to get you and your friends exclaiming at the screen for all the right reasons.
8/10
