AU/fic where Soundwave secretly loves human music so he sneaks out of the Decepticon base in holoform to check out cool bands and clubs to hear more music. Blaster also likes going to clubs in holoform to lay low, and the two run into each other. Shenanigans ensue as they become really close friends as humans, both trying really hard not to let the other find out they're actually a giant alien robot.

I finished mtmte/ll recently and as much as I absolutely adored the series, I do have some complaints/questions.

That final arc felt generally kinda weak, but some things really stuck out:

Most glaring to me was Nightbeat's death. I didn't even realize what was going on when I read it. I fully believed he was just getting up to more hijinks on his own, finally make his own discovery, then the series ends and I realized he actually fully died? It was so anticlimactic and honestly unnecessary I didn't even register it was supposed to be a permanent death until I saw he was one of the figurines of dead characters on the table. Why no one even give a fuck either the crew never brings it up 😭

On the note of dead characters, Skids. I know plenty of people bring this up as a complaint but yeah, I see why. One of the best characters in the series killed off in an (questionably necessary) incredibly depressing scene, with no one ever reaching true closure or having good discussions about it. I have a lot of thoughts about his death that I gotta think through first, but Im just unsatisfied with it. It feels like the series relied on everything just ending up okay, like with Tailgate mysteriously living. Cd/rewind and cyclonus/Tg both had plenty of moments were character death is resolved by some miracle because they completely rely on each other to not fall apart, and it would be incredibly depressing for that to happen to a character. And that's completely okay, but then it just feels weird that to avoid that kind of plot, they have the characters closest to Skids just move on, hardly acknowledging it. At that point just being him back as well, because his platonic relationships were as strong as those romantic ones. Or at least have his friends acknowledge it, literally anything. (I do find it really interesting that his first words in the series were his last, calling himself scum. Sad, but a fun idea, that makes his death feel even worse too me. He died thinking he was a horrible person and because of his lack of revival, it's an extremely depressing almost up out of pocket way to end of his character in a series that never had this type of hopeless vibe.) Maybe they wanted the DJD to be a full threat, by actually killing off a character. But it wasn't really them who did it, at least not directly so I don't really think so.

This is more of a question, what was the point of Roller? Don't get me wrong I adored him probably way to much for a guy who didn't really do much. But seriously, what did he do. After the flashback we're he is introduced, it feels like he's supposed to be something of a Skids replacement, as in he's filling in the spot of a charismatic kind guy that's kinda the more down to earth member of the crew to compliment that wacky personalities. I think he was supposed to be a Red Herring in making you think he was Tarn before becoming Tarn (because of his need to be useful and his head shape)? But it was so underbaked I didn't even catch that until after Tarn died and was revealed to be Glitch instead. And now this is getting into more personal opinions/ideas, but I feel like he would have been more interesting if he was Tarn. But I get that just doesn't work because he was a disappeared person, and clearly Tarn isn't disappeared. But considering the loop holes this series gets into to make stuff happen (which again isn't a bad thing I think it makes it more charming) it could have plausibly happened, considering he changed his identity completely to become Tarn. I might make a post going into this idea further, but it would have probably made Tarn too sympathetic (which I also have thoughts about) so I understand why they wouldn't.

Sorry this got to way too long, I might mention more later when I can fully retrospect. Again tho, I really enjoyed this series, no series can be perfect and there were probably time constraints.

Punch is an Autobot spy sent to infiltrate the Decepticons, and conduct sabotage and relay information. However, stationed in a (city) unit, the initially (convicted? Convinction?) Punch begins to realize that beneath Cybertron's ancient grudges, the Decepticon are just people like the Autobots, fighting for their cities, their families, and for their own lives as everything becomes more and more hellish. Questioning the entire war and increasingly conflicted between his city duty to his city and the Autobots and his bonds with the bots he went through hell with, Punch tries his best to avoid making the choice. He stays with the Decepticon unit at the end of the war, justifying himself with the lack of explicit orders, able to claim anything about his background because the war destroyed almost all records. But secrets like this can't be kept forever.

So, finished rereading...

Just as heartbreaking as it was the first time. What really makes it tragic is that he died haunted by his most traumatic memories, feeling guilty for what he had done. Worse yet, that guilt has always been there, even before he remembered, subconsciously. After all, this is was the first word, which came to his mind, when he tried to recall his name after the memory-wipe and regaining consciousness:

Just wish he could have gotten some closure before he died, someone, ideally Brainstorm, telling him that what happened in Grindcore prison camp wasn’t his fault.

And don’t get me started on what happened with Nautica in Lost Light.

do you have any red optic autobots or blue optic decepticons or is it mostly blues n greens for bots with bulk having yellow and reds n oranges for the cons?

Optic colors can be easily changed. The outer lenses is what gives optics their color and can be switched out quite easily. Most bots can do it on their own without assistance.

Optic color is used as a quick and easy way to identify who is on your side where smoke, darkness, and dirt may obscure an insignia. The glow of optics is an easy way to tell who is on your side and who is not. In theory, an Autobot could have red optics or a Decepticons blue, but they would most likely get in trouble with their superior officers, and they could vary easily be shot by one of their comrades in low visibility environments.

Many bots before the war used different optic colors than their current ones but changed them since both the Autobots and Decepticons require you to change your optic colors to join them. While many neutral bots ended up changing their optic colors so they wouldn't get confused for being a part of either side.

Yellow and purple are both neutral and can be used interchangeably, but yellow is definitely the more popular option, with purple being a popular color among mercenaries and anti-war bots who actively speak out against both side, which often lead to purple optics bot being targeted. But neutrals of any optic color can get targeted, especially by the Decepticons. The Decepticons value strengths, bravery, fighting for what you want/believe in, and doing whatever it takes to achieve your goals. So to some decepicons, being neutral is worse than being an Autobot. At least an Autobot got enough spark to fight for something, unlike most neutral, who, to them, are passive cowards with no cause.

Do they purr?

Yes they in fact do purr. Cybertronians actually make a lot of unique sounds.

Purring usually a sound made when very calm, happy or satisfied. Some bots do it more than others. Some bots also may purr to calm others bots down.

Revving Is a universally Aggressive gesture with a similar meaning to why many animals growl. Its also often used as a warning, a universal fuck around and find out you could say Most bots aren't fans of humans with loud revving cars or motorcycles because of this.

Rattling This usually happens when a cybertronian is very scared, upset or crying the sound comes from shaking making their painting Rattle.

Honk Sometimes accompanying screaming whether in shock/fear or rage It can often be used to draw attention to one's self, it's a new modification most bots gained after taking an earth alt and not a natural cybertronian trait.

Sirens/alarms are a form of warning call only used in absolute emergencies, used as a loud call for help or a warning of danger and to get away, The pattern and pitch in which the siren plays indicates to other cybertronians if it is a call for help or a warning to get away,

Sometimes, for the sake of getting to places Faster on Earth bots disguised as emergency vehicles will use their Sirens, but it's not a pleasant experience for them. this is another noise human Vehicles make that cybertronians find Distressing.

Cybertronian language, though it may sound like a bunch of random noise to most humans it is very much a language consisting of A mix of chirps, clicks, chittering, buzzes, hums, purrs, and Beeps. It Sounds less like any human language and more like a buggy Summer night mixed with random electronic Noises. Though it is possible for a human to learn how to read a cybertronian language, it's basically impossible for them to speak or understand it verbally. Many sounds have subtle Differences that human ears Can't pick up on, Along with many sounds being too high Or low pitch for most human ears and most sounds being impossible for a human to make. along with that, all of Cybertron's primary languages use electrical signals in tandem with verbalization or hand gestures in the case of cybertronian sign language, While Cybertronian tactile languages are entirely incomprehensible to humans since they consist of 90% electrical signals.
