Abnormality: Shōbu no Shōbu (菖蒲の尚武; Iris's Militarism) An abnormality invested in the well-being and protection of children, even if it must devote its inherently non-violent body to acts of atrocities. This abnormality is based off of the symbols associated with Children's Day/Boy's Day in the koinobori (symbols of courage and determination) and the Japanese iris flower (symbols of protection and the warding of evil spirits). The design of the abnormality being of the koinobori surrounded by iris' is meant to juxtapose the City, where things meant to be peaceful become violent for their goals. Children's/Boy's Day is also where Kiya gets his sinner number.

on one hand i think watching kiya distort was probably really traumatic for most of the sinners especially given that kiyas is not very fast, it is quite drawn out on the other, look at his face. hes soggy and wet and sad.

or maybe... it's fear. so i realized that the happenings in the event was a perfect time to let kiya die again! and to let heathcliff have feelings about that death again! mostly because the sinners themselves havent dealt with this particular type of assailants before personally really (this will become relevant to them later lol, when they need to confront some feelings which turns into a really bad fight)

in which kiya distorting actually saves him, as his sense of self rapidly collapses around him i do legitimately wish to play around with the idea of a distortion being an overall net positive for someone through its existing formats so for kiya's story (as of right now) his distorting is built on a very shaky and temporary desire that he knows to already be false because if he does not cling to it, he wouldve completely bypassed the distorting and just became an abnormality (and thus himself ceasing to exist) almost like his distorted state being a type of life ring between him and total ego death!

Originally planned but then initially scrapped because I didn't know what I wanted to do with him, this Kiya has been brought back with the intent of basically using the resources of the Seven in order to go ruin his fathers life, and also working himself half to death and psychosis in the process (hes the sort who works overtime and sleeps in the office)

District 20 Yurodivy ID

okay, this was also a joke but he has reason to be there! kiya's not heartless and he doesnt like food waste after seeing so much of it in a kitchen, that kind of stuff would totally radicalize him... though hes much more of a person whos about ready to knock people over the head for besmirching the work of the Yurodivy even if its in the middle of the street lol

i always worry that people dont know who emiko is in relation to kiya also god, its such an interesting look to draw a character who just hates the guts of another with methods to show that disdain and horror for the situation but without actually fully showing it i can't do the symbology stuff well so this is my shot (for the record the person speaking is kiya's father, moritaka)

i made a banner and icon for tumblr based on kiya, the untouchable (kiya's distorted form) and i gotta say it rocks also do not mind that the pearl icon head is as detailed as it is for presumably a decapitated head, it was intentional and actually looked more horrifying when there was more blue tint to the skin (because he looked.... dead...er)

YOU THOUGHT YOU'D NEVER SEE THEM AGAIN BUT THATS A LIE, YOU'D HAVE TO EXPLODE ME TO GET ME TO STOP THINKING ABOUT THEM!!!!! the entire time ive been working on Kiya Toriya, I've been basically using that as a springboard for concepts to work on for my actual most beloveds, Shimi and Tetsutetsu Taishiro, Tamaki, and Eijirou (while tamaki retains his blood relation to shimi though neither knows of it), are all part of the Zwei Association in the South and well Tetsu was part of it... till he basically did something that went against the contract nature of being a Fixer and got himself either demoted or his license fully revoked and Mira's a proxy who's fucking with Shimi's Sweeper den (why is she rehashing ruina stuff, why is she like that; answer: shes power hungry and i needed an excuse for her to fuck around and find out with Shimi again)
