As a kpop hater for years and years, stray kids is an INSANE entry into the fandom. Season - 4 Midnight Burger

I'm gonna be honest, midnight burger is my comfort podcast. My home in my phone. Especially Season 2, season 2 was just so insane I'll never forget a single episode, everything felt perfectly crafted and made. Season 3 felt a lot like filler, but I'll be honest, Clementine is my favourite anti-hero. The TEDS and Lafftracks are my favourite Villains with a capital V though, they're very cool. But Season 3 did deliver, even after my initial skepticism. It ate HARD. The shopsies episode, the entireity of the Horizon arc, everything was so entertaining and on point, and I loved the nuanced take on the crew in general. " Your mom" was 100 percent filler, but I've never seen such an interesting filler, ever, so much so, it barely felt like it! The plot points were so vivid, and the characterization of EVERY SINGLE NEW CHARACTER was so perfect, I love them all so much. But then we have season 4. It felt like A MESS. It definitely did not give the filler feel all of season 3 had, but it felt like too much was going on at the same time, and while I can recount every single episode and plot point that happened in all of seasons 1-3, season 4 just feels like a continuous blur of just SHIT.

And of course, my biggest complaint, the characters I really liked David, as a character, and I like how much closer Ava and Caspar feel, but I couldn't empathize with any of the sisters. The paradise episode had SO MUCH potential. I was really hoping for some touching conversations, and more Ava lore, and instead I got characters I couldn't bring myself to care about, a wedding that wasn't necessary in the least ( As a queer woman, it just felt like diversity points, and even that felt strange, because MB is no stranger to diversity, they handle it pretty well!) and people who were given half assed importance. It felt like they were trying to make them feel important and meaningful, but didn't consider that if they were going to not last a couple of episodes, there was no need for them to be completely attempt to be flushed out, and I do mean attempt because in classic MB style, to really care about characters, you need time and patience, which let's be honest, cannot be done in a single episode for like, 3 new characters who only came into existence to give lore about the diner in the first place. Like, come on. There was more nuance in the one interaction between David, and the girl who kept skipping through time to the same place. We found out more about her, and empathized with her in a single 30 minute (?) interaction with another side character, than we found out about the entirety of the paradise in a full episode. So yes, characters are a HUGE problem. The finale was underwhelming for the most part, and then they hit us with the time travel sequence. That was probably the most exciting out of the entire season, so I'm hoping it'll get better from season 5.

It is so fucking insane that we share characteristics with like, dogs or cats or whatever. bestie we have signals in the air???????????this is so weird imagine being a dog and see the people you grew up with fucking typing away on their cute little metal and glass slab that they will scream in agony if they drop. if i was a dog and i saw a large mystical long lost sibling tapping on a piece of glass and laughing at it i will genuinely sleep with my eyes open.
