(Jacen is eating dinner at the Solos’ house. His three-year-old daughter has been trying to stab him with her fork. Leia is making snorting sounds as she’s struggling not to laugh.)

Allana: “I’m going to stab you with my fork!”

Jacen: “No! Eat your food like a big girl!”

Allana: *continuing to make stabbing gestures and nom-nom sounds* “Get on the fork!”

Jacen: “Mommy help me!”

(Leia gets up and leaves.)

Leia: “She’s your daughter; you can handle it.”

Jacen: “Mom! I’m scared! Don’t leave me here!”

(Leia ignores his pleas for help and leaves the dining room. At that moment, Allana giggles softly, which draws his attention back to her.)

Allana: *straight faced and pointing her fork menacingly* “Your mama left.”

The realization of where she knew Allana from was like rising from a pool after too long underwater. Suddenly Leia could breathe again, could think again. Allana had Tenel Ka’s coloration-the fair skin, red hair, gray eyes-but her face, her expressions, her lively intelligence, were so like his when he was a child, before Yuuzhan Vong and voxyn and Vergere and who-knows-what twisted all the happiness out of his life.

Jacen laughed and leaned down to scoop her into his arms, and all trouble left his thoughts. She was a beautiful little girl with her mother’s red hair and a button nose, and suddenly he knew that his long struggle was worthwhile, that he could never stop trying to bring peace and order to the galaxy…that Allana and all the children like her deserved to grow up on worlds untroubled by war and injustice.

Can we discuss for a moment how absolutely criminal it is that Luke and Allana have barely interacted in Canon??

First of all, that's his grand-niece. Jacen's daughter. You know. His nephew's daughter. But ... even if we ignore that, that's Tenel Ka's kid! It's pretty evident in Young Jedi Knights and New Jedi Order both that Tenel Ka feels close to Luke. She was literally under his wing as a young teen, training at the academy, and even before that Luke was acquainted with her mother (in your usual chaotic, star wars way).

And you're telling me Luke wouldn't absolutely dote on that girl. On Tenel Ka and Jacen's kid. Pfft
