Spyro Reignited: Thoughts so Far (Update to Follow)
Don't read if you don't want spoilers.
Let it be known that I have been playing all the originals over and over again since the spring of this year. I know exactly how disappointed I am.
Spyro the Dragon: Perhaps got the most work put into it of the three.
I do like the redesign of the dragons and the worlds. So that's good enough for me. I do appreciate the change in dialogue. They were able to give more personality to each dragon, but I can't say the same for Spyro himself. It's the same voice actor for Spyro of old, but he kinda just doesn't seem in it. Could just be my opinion however.
A lot of it feels like the original Spyro the Dragon, but there is a bit of challenge getting used to new mechanics and shift in weight so to speak. Spyro is faster, he jumps higher, and there is still no hover for the first.
The camera is bothersome, but that hasn't changed. I do believe that compared to the original this version of Spyro the Dragon is much easier (there is very little challenge...which could almost be seen as an injustice). Overall I suppose it is a good attempt at bringing Spyro the Dragon, up to date...but it's not exactly what I envisioned.
---Spyro Ripto's Rage: Not Complete Yet.
I don't like it. End of story. It simply does not compare to the original version, in any shape or form. It doesn't feel like the original Ripto's Rage. There are many redesigns that are just not appreciated (but some that are) and the difficulty scale is greatly watered down in all of the Orb Challenges. (To be honest I gauged the difficulty off of one Orb challenge in particular because of how broken it was) Though I do give props to a boosted difficulty for one of the bosses.
--I get that it is a children's game, but the amount of hand holding is just plain sad--
The main difficulty seems to stem with the camera, which makes me ponder if Toys for Bob even bothered to play the final outcome.
---Spyro: Year of the Dragon: I haven't started it yet, but I'm not feeling hopeful for it.
