Ao no Exorcist: Yosuga-hen (Blue Exorcist: The Blue Night Saga):

Synopsis: Unlike his twin brother, Yukio, Rin Okumura never wished to know about their parents and the circumstances surrounding his own birth. Yet the master of time, Mephisto Pheles, gives Rin a key that transports him 40 years into the past when his late mother, Yuri Frederick Egin, was merely a child. With Mephisto's guidance, Rin leaps through the years of Yuri's childhood and her adolescence as an exorcist-in-training.
Early on, Yuri meets Shirou Fujimoto, Rin and Yukio's adoptive father. As Rin follows Yuri and Shirou's lives, he witnesses firsthand the initial appearances of Satan, his true father, and the horrors unfolding at the True Cross Order's special Section 13. Yuri's unique connection to Satan eventually leads Rin to the truth behind the most horrific event in exorcist history and the day he and Yukio were born—the Blue Night.

Wow... just wow. Now this is a season that gets you hooked and really makes you want to read the source material. Devastating and absolutely beautiful. And i'm not just talking about the story!
The animation was significantly better than the previous two seasons and there were some really beautifully animated moments. The opening and ending themes were perfect and ones that I refused to skip every single episode.
As for the story. This is a very character driven season. The story of Shiro and Yuri... they really are such interesting and likeable characters. As much fun as those angsty kids are following two adults and their beautiful yet tragic story was a breath of fresh air.
This may very well be my favourite series to date, it most certainly is my favourite arc! Now all I can do is wait and hope that the next season doesn't take 5+ years to be released and maintains that standard of animation and storytelling that this season gave us.

Ao no Exorcist: Yuki no Hate-hen (Blue Exorcist: Beyond the Snow Saga):

Synopsis: Demonic activity worldwide has significantly increased due to the involvement and corrupt practices of the Illuminati. To combat the unnatural influx of demons, the Vatican Headquarters decides to hold the annual Exorcist Certification Exam early and allow for as many exorcists as possible to take up the mantle.
Straight from the Vatican, one of the most powerful exorcists, Lewin "Lightning" Light, arrives at True Cross Academy to help prepare the students for the exam. The ease and mastery with which Lewin performs exorcisms quickly impresses Ryuuji "Bon" Suguro, who has lost his ambition to continue his studies, and Lewin surprisingly accepts him as his apprentice. Amid the worsening situation, twin brothers Rin and Yukio Okumura are sent to locate the recently missing exorcist Shura Kirigakure, who seems to be chained to a decades-long contract with a powerful, immortal demon hiding in Aomori Prefecture's dangerous, snowy mountains.

Kind of gives filler vibes for the most part. Like let's just rush through these bits as Yukio becomes more and more unhinged (which was a highlight, like boy what are you doing?!) and we build to the real action and good stuff you know?
I enjoyed it a bit less than the previous season but there weren't any especially terrible animation bits like those damn zombies so that was an improvement.
All in all not a great season but it sure set up the next one well and got me pretty excited to watch it!

Ao no Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati-hen:

My Rating: 8/10

Well there is just so much to say here and I doubt i'll cover half of it but let's start with the rating... now maybe you think i've given it too high of a rating. You may in fact be right but two of my favourite characters played some pretty big roles this season and I was obsessed!
That being said there are some obvious flaws. First off (ok maybe not a flaw exactly) the wait between each previous season has been big.
2011 (S1) - 2017 (S2) - 2024 (S3)
No wonder I completely forgot about this series until I recently stumbled across it online. Such. Long. Breaks. Anyways the season was fun, the animation was alright for the most part (totally ignoring that atrocious fuckery with the zombies) and like I said above my favourite characters played a pretty big role this season! Also the mystery, the intrigue, the shocking twists and turns! I have never bothered to read the manga in case you hadn't caught onto it yet. So when I say the twist shocked me I really truly mean it.
I'm told the character design, for Rin especially changed pretty drastically between this season and the last which I imagine will be a big con for some viewers. But without rewatching the previous seasons I can't say much to that.
All in all as a casual fan of the series I enjoyed it and am looking forward to catching up on a show that I know I really, really enjoyed when it originally aired... all the way back in 2011 it would seem.
If you read this and for some reason think to give this series a try I should warn you that i'm pretty sure the first season ended with some anime original fuckery that should be promptly forgotten and discarded but i'm sure a bit of quick research should tell you what to do to best enjoy your viewing experience!

Apothecary Diaries is pog as fuck bc serious political issues and dynamics from a woman's POV are rarely depicted in ANY form of media
It's always a man's world where women's issues surround him. Even if we get a female perspective once in awhile- it all comes back to how it facilitates his game in the end. She's a footnote in the overarching scheme of things. Misogyny exists. Back to the real plot.
Apothecary Diaries is strictly from a female perspective and how each class of woman has to act, what limits they have, what rights they have and don't have between each class, etc. These women have to behave a certain way under a patriarchy, which you would think makes it a man's story, but it never is. The women are THE focus of this show, their struggles are THE plot. The focus is about how the patriarch effects them.
Take the concubines for example. The show dives into how bearing a child affects their rank, how traumatizing it is to lose that child, the consequences of that, etc. We have barely seen the emperor who sired all these kids because this is not about him.
Jinshi's personal plot is secondary to Mao Mao's journey- he is mostly there to provide new cases for Mao Mao to solve and to learn more about the shortcomings of his class when taking care of citizens like Mao Mao.
Jinshi is not a bad person, but by virtue of his position in the higher classes, he cannot understand how harsh life as a poor WOMAN is specifically- he can only catch glimpses of it from what Mao Mao tells him and feel outrage but powerless in his wealth and luxury
Mao Mao is a fortunate commoner woman for what privileges someone in her class should and shouldn't have. She happened to be adopted by a knowledgeable man. She is allowed to read, write, learn, and has enough skill to be a poison tester and have a job EXTREMELY out of her class limit as an apothecary, also a job not traditionally meant for women
Mao Mao is not a "noT lIkE oThER gIrLs" protagonist, she is FOR THE GIRLIES. She only wants to help the women around her, and women are whom she has the closest relationships to. She sees a woman being harassed and can't let it stand. She sees a frail, traumatized woman dying from the recklessness of those who should be caring for her and spends day and night nursing her back to health, while also punishing the people who were so careless with her needs.
My girl has STUDIED UP on THE BODY to TEACH these upper class ladies on how to really HEAT things up in the BEDROOM
Sex depicted in Apothecary Diaries is both something women are not shamed to be enjoying, while at the same time being acknowledged as an unfortunately huge economic necessity to market themselves.
Like shit is just so real in this series???
Listen, I can go on and on about how GOATED the series and especially Mao Mao is but you get the picture

Beautiful women absolutely kicking ass and brutal, drawn out death scenes are a delight in this series... you know if you enjoy such things. The animation was stunning and the heart of the series and characters were there but something just seemed off with this season and I was a bit outraged with how abruptly the season ended.
The season started strong but it kind of lost that incredibly dark tone it's known for and started to feel a bit more like your typical shounen full of fights and a large cast of characters throwing out a few witty one liners. Don't get me wrong I generally enjoyed the fights (very well animated) and I liked spending a bit more time with some of the characters but it just fell kind of flat compared to previous seasons... I'm still haunted by the rabbit death scene to this day, so memorable.
I haven't read the source material so I can't be 100% certain but I think the season would have benefited from a longer run where they could have focused more on each big battle and the characters there.
In conclusion it was alright. Visually stunning and at it's core the same show it always was but a bit disappointing. I hope the next season is better!

Jibaku Shounen Hanako-Kun 2:

Synopsis: Second season of Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun.
Status: Completed
My Rating: 9/10
Finished airing in 2025 with a total of 12 episodes.
I adore this series and am so incredibly excited that this season will have a second part this summer! What a short wait!
The characters are adorable and oh so loveable. The story switches seamlessly between haunting and eerie to comedy/slice of life which really drives home just how young the characters really are while also reminding you of the fact that the show is dealing with some pretty heavy subjects. The unique art style continues to be a real standout and visual delight. Also character development!
I love this series... my only real complaint is how short each season is.
