4. The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity: Airing July 6th

Synopsis: Despite being adjacent to one another, Chidori Public High School and the all-girls Kikyo Private Academy seem to exist in two different worlds. While the latter boasts an immaculate reputation and favors students from wealthy backgrounds, the former is a nest for dim-witted delinquents. Everyone at Kikyo harbors a deep hatred for their Chidori neighbors.

Sixteen-year-old Rintarou Tsumugi is a student at Chidori whose intimidating face leads people to avoid him. Rintarou pays no mind to this, as he is content with his group of friends. However, there is something he has not told them yet: sometimes, he helps out at his family's cake shop.

One day at work, Rintarou sees a customer at a table, but she runs off before he can talk to her. The next day, he receives an apology from the girl, Kaoruko Waguri, who explains that she did not run away because of his appearance and that she believes Rintarou is a kind-hearted person. Although he is not used to Kaoruko's bright personality, Rintarou looks forward to forming a friendship with her. There is just one obstacle that stands in his way: Kaoruko is a Kikyo student!

5. Gachiakuta: Airing July 6th

Synopsis: Living in the slums of a wealthy town, Rudo and his foster father Regto try to coexist with the rest of the town's residents, but Rudo despises the wastefulness of the upper class. Ignoring the warnings from those around him, Rudo regularly rummages through the town's garbage in search of anything useful or valuable to save from the "Abyss"—a massive hole where anything considered trash is dumped, including people. Rudo's biological father was one such person, having been thrown into the Abyss after he was accused of murder.

One day, after running into a mysterious figure on the way home, Rudo returns to find Regto's dying body on the floor. He is immediately found at the scene by the authorities and is charged with murder. No one believes his claims of innocence, and he is thrown into the Abyss. Instead of dying, however, he finds himself in a strange, foul-smelling place surrounded by monsters made out of trash.

When Rudo is attacked by said monsters, he is saved by a man named Enjin, who reveals himself to be a "Cleaner"—someone who uses special weapons called Vital Instruments to combat these creatures. In order to get his revenge on the one who killed Regto, Rudo reluctantly becomes a Cleaner to fight his way back up and out of the Abyss.

6. The Summer Hikaru Died: Airing July 6th

Synopsis: Best friends Yoshiki and Hikaru have been stuck together like glue for most of their lives. Living in a small village and being the only children their age, the two boys find solace in each other's company. Their friendship seems picturesque at first glance, but Yoshiki has noticed a shift in Hikaru's demeanor ever since one fateful summer.

The "Hikaru" that sits beside him now is nothing like his friend. Despite his physical appearance and memories remaining exactly the same, Yoshiki knows something is amiss and that the Hikaru he once knew is gone. When he brings this up, Hikaru partially transforms into an otherworldly being, threatening to kill Yoshiki if he cannot accept it—while also professing its love for him.

Wracked with grief and unable to let go of his best friend, Yoshiki struggles to move on with his life as he finds himself getting closer to the new Hikaru. At the same time, strange occurrences begin to plague their village, bringing unsettling chaos.

My Happy Marriage Season 2:

Synopsis: Following the awakening of her Dream-Sight ability, Miyo Saimori reunites with her fiancé, Kiyoka Kudou, the captain of the special forces protecting the country against ill-intended individuals gifted with exceptional powers. However, the couple's blissful life is suddenly interrupted when Takaihito, the top contender for the imperial throne, sends Kiyoka on a dangerous mission.

Traveling with Miyo to the remote household of his parents, Kiyoka must investigate unusual reports of demons in the region. Meanwhile, Miyo tries to gain the approbation of her callous mother-in-law, Fuyu, who refuses to recognize her as a family member.

After Kiyoka repels an attack by the Gifted Communion, a subversive sect of special abilities wielders, he returns to the capital alongside his fiancée. As the looming threat against the imperial authority intensifies, Kiyoka must thwart the Gifted Communion's plans to protect Miyo and everyone he holds dear.

An enjoyable viewing experience! I didn't love it as much as some others shows and just watched episodes as I felt like it but overall the season was enjoyable.

I believe my issue with the second season is the same as the first.... that issue being the supernatural element vs. the romance. It just feels weird and I can't shake that feeling which impacts my viewing experience. Like stop with the supernatural drama! Let this adorable couple live! The whole point I suppose i'm trying to make is that I was far more invested in the romance than the rest of the action in the anime and just didn't love the rest, though there were some good points!

A good point of this season was Miyo's development! She grew so much as a person and an ability user! Her and Kiyoka's relationship and every small moment between the pair was also so gentle and delightful. I suppose it all boils down to me just wishing the focus of the anime was more of that. More of Miyo, Kiyoka and the gentle moments they shared.

The ending was perfection, the opening and ending themes were beautiful and overall i'm happy to have experienced this anime that really does feel like spring.

Ao no Exorcist: Yosuga-hen (Blue Exorcist: The Blue Night Saga):

Synopsis: Unlike his twin brother, Yukio, Rin Okumura never wished to know about their parents and the circumstances surrounding his own birth. Yet the master of time, Mephisto Pheles, gives Rin a key that transports him 40 years into the past when his late mother, Yuri Frederick Egin, was merely a child. With Mephisto's guidance, Rin leaps through the years of Yuri's childhood and her adolescence as an exorcist-in-training.

Early on, Yuri meets Shirou Fujimoto, Rin and Yukio's adoptive father. As Rin follows Yuri and Shirou's lives, he witnesses firsthand the initial appearances of Satan, his true father, and the horrors unfolding at the True Cross Order's special Section 13. Yuri's unique connection to Satan eventually leads Rin to the truth behind the most horrific event in exorcist history and the day he and Yukio were born—the Blue Night.

Wow... just wow. Now this is a season that gets you hooked and really makes you want to read the source material. Devastating and absolutely beautiful. And i'm not just talking about the story!

The animation was significantly better than the previous two seasons and there were some really beautifully animated moments. The opening and ending themes were perfect and ones that I refused to skip every single episode.

As for the story. This is a very character driven season. The story of Shiro and Yuri... they really are such interesting and likeable characters. As much fun as those angsty kids are following two adults and their beautiful yet tragic story was a breath of fresh air.

This may very well be my favourite series to date, it most certainly is my favourite arc! Now all I can do is wait and hope that the next season doesn't take 5+ years to be released and maintains that standard of animation and storytelling that this season gave us.

Ao no Exorcist: Yuki no Hate-hen (Blue Exorcist: Beyond the Snow Saga):

Synopsis: Demonic activity worldwide has significantly increased due to the involvement and corrupt practices of the Illuminati. To combat the unnatural influx of demons, the Vatican Headquarters decides to hold the annual Exorcist Certification Exam early and allow for as many exorcists as possible to take up the mantle.

Straight from the Vatican, one of the most powerful exorcists, Lewin "Lightning" Light, arrives at True Cross Academy to help prepare the students for the exam. The ease and mastery with which Lewin performs exorcisms quickly impresses Ryuuji "Bon" Suguro, who has lost his ambition to continue his studies, and Lewin surprisingly accepts him as his apprentice. Amid the worsening situation, twin brothers Rin and Yukio Okumura are sent to locate the recently missing exorcist Shura Kirigakure, who seems to be chained to a decades-long contract with a powerful, immortal demon hiding in Aomori Prefecture's dangerous, snowy mountains.

Kind of gives filler vibes for the most part. Like let's just rush through these bits as Yukio becomes more and more unhinged (which was a highlight, like boy what are you doing?!) and we build to the real action and good stuff you know?

I enjoyed it a bit less than the previous season but there weren't any especially terrible animation bits like those damn zombies so that was an improvement.

All in all not a great season but it sure set up the next one well and got me pretty excited to watch it!
