And vanilla would definitely be confused at this person who looks exactly like her daughter
The funniest part about Vanilla is that she is nearly portrayed as this older lady who you'd guess is in her thirties or something, but no, she's in her twenties. (Or at least that's what I last heard?) I often wonder if she would act more like a mid-late twenty-years-old if she was more involved in the main gangs' shenanigans.
So, now I picture her meeting Charon when Cream brings her over (somehow) and she is so confused at first, but also her daughter has met aliens of all types, has a robot guardian, and sometimes helps fight against world-domination if not destruction. This is just another factor of life that she has to welcome.
I think she'd be thrilled to go to the Underworld… have some adventure of her own. Sadly, I think that her youth might have been short-lived due to Cream, not that she regrets that. But still- she's young- she's gonna wanna have some fun too.
She'd try to emulate some of Nyx's style and Cream would be sooo shocked, but she'd support and cheer on her mama of course.

Charon would love Vanilla's baking
Ah, so you saw my tags, haha. To answer your question: absolutely! She'd be over the moon about all the tasty treats that Vanilla can make. Nyx isn't a cook at all. Vanilla's baking might even out-do that of the supernaturally talented chefs of the Underworld palace. Just don't tell the palace chef that Charon said so- she isn't completely heartless.

Cream might definitely strike a chord with Charon when it comes to her reasoning. Due to perhaps graverobbers or people who intentionally never got funeral rights done to them.
I definitely agree with this. Cream would not appreciate the way that Charon has to run things to stay in line with the Underworld’s rules. However, there can be exceptions and overrides.
If there is irrefutable proof that the coin was stolen from the body of the shade, then they can cross, but it may take a while because it, unfortunately, takes until the living relative(s) that had placed the coin has passed themself to report the crime. Hades does not take grave robbing lightly.
As for people who don’t get the rights, Charon is quite hard-headed about that and believes that if you didn’t have anyone in life who cared enough to do it for you, then you probably deserved it. Or if you died in a way that made it impossible to receive the proper burial then that’s your fault and your consequence for your hubris.
Cream believes that’s extremely mean and obviously believes that this can’t apply to everyone and that lumping people into just one category is unfair. This is, perhaps, one of Cream’s greatest dislikes and qualms against her counterpart.

Perhaps Cream and Charon help each other in thier adventures?
Charon would turn her nose up at any of Cream's adventures and find them of little consequence and importance compared to the matters that she has to handle. They seem like child's play to her, or even if it's one of the world-endangering adventure, not her problem. The Fates have the final say after all.
I imagine that Cream would still lend a hand with things that she may be capable of within Charon's realm even though they have their differences because that's just the type of person she is, but that doesn't mean that Charon will accept her help. Charon has a lot to learn about friendship.

Would cream admire Charon?
I think that Cream would admire some aspects of Charon, such as the parts of her that take care of the children shades who have the misfortune to find themselves on her boat or when she defends her home. There are other things that Charon does, like curse, deny entry to suffering shades, and “acts mean” that Cream disapproves of.

Hello all. Sorry for my continued absence. My tablet charger completely died on me and I haven’t been able to afford a new one. Which means no art for now. If you have any questions about lore or any of the characters I’d be more than happy to address them! If you’re still around, thank you again from the bottom of my heart. Hopefully by the end of April, I can get a new one.

Hey guys, sorry for disappearing. My motivation has been found dead, shot in the street like a dog/ref /j, so I haven't been doing much of anything. I hope that it will return soon so that I can give you all some more content. Thanks for sticking with me.

Hi all! First poll on the new blog!
It'll take me a minute to get around to this, but hopefully whoever is chosen will get a sketch page by Sunday.

What if Charon and Cream swapped places?
I'M SO SORRY THIS IS SO LATE!!! I did not see this in my notifications until I opened up Tumblr on PC!
I think that it would be utter chaos. That was my initial thought as soon as I saw this.
Charon is way out of her depth in the mainline Sonic world. She would hate how people infantilize her and see her as this cutesy little bunny. Keep in mind that this is an immortal deity!
She would hate how smothering Vanilla is and thank the stars that she has distant but still present Nyx as her mom. Charon would miss her boat and miss the tranquility of the Underworld rivers.
She would, however, adore Cheese and try to abduct him to bring him to the Underworld. Probably all the chao. Hades would just sigh and tell her to give them back.
I think Cream can be a pretty tough girl, but in the end, she's just a child (and a young one at that). She would rightfully be rather terrified in the Underworld, despite it not necessarily being scary. It's a brand-new place with a lot of intimidating faces and places! She would probably cry for her mama and Cheese.
I think Persephone would find her and take her in, let her walk amongst the pomegranate orchard and visit where they keep the creatures. Hades would also adore her - he has a very soft spot for sweet, polite little kids. He has a soft spot for kids in general hehe.

Ooh, maybe Cosmo can be Chloris, the nymph turned goddess of flowers! Maybe Zephyrus is her crush before Hermes. Bonus in that she canonically resides in the Elysian Fields!
You actually read my mind! When you originally talked about Earthia and the tree nymph, I started to research other nymphs that existed and any possible connections to flowers!
Chloris is one of the ones that popped up, and I was really fascinated by her story! When I learned she is actually in the Underworld, I about screamed! Such a perfect fit!
I was debating on making Zephyrus Dark Oak, while again, twisting the narrative that instead of abducting her to become his wife- he just abducted her from Earthia because of his controlling and possessive nature. However, I can't find a straight answer on her maternal heritage, only that she was possibly a daughter of Oceanus.
Then, I thought, Oceanus might be an actual good fit for Dark Oak seeing as Oceanus is a primordial titan as well and in a way (not entirely) is very similar to Black Doom who I've already assigned as Erebus.
Perhaps Hermes could be of assistance with helping her be in a comfortable relationship after being abducted by Zephyrus. Sonic would tease him about it if he ever saw them interact hehe.

Can Charon sing.
Hmm. I had to think about this a bit.
Can she sing well/in a way that can be interpreted as well by a general audience? Not particularly.
Does she sometimes half sing/half hum to the child shades that board her boat to hush them? Yes.
Does she hum as she rows about the rivers on especially silent rides sometimes? Also yes.

Also according to the Theogony, Hecate is the daughter of Styx and the Titan Pallas. So Sticks is Amy’s mom.
Yes! I know that in Greek Myth that’s true, but to avoid that and other awkward relationships, I’ve had to cut some of the familial ties.
For instance, Aether and Hemera end up being spouses, but that just doesn’t make sense for the story I’m telling and also leads to unsavory insinuations.
I understand that Greek Myth itself is rather unsavory at times, but just as Black Knight kept it pretty PG-13 despite the Arthurian times being rather uncouth, I’m going to take the same route.
I also know that actual Greek Myth is full of sibling-spouse relationships, so I’ve taken creative liberty and altered some of that.
In this case, in this retelling, Sticks/Styx is not Amy/Hecate’s mom, just a friend. But I will be adding little notes in whatever format I choose to bring this to life that tell the “truth” about certain myths.

Vanilla as Nyx, and Black Doom as Erebus… So who’s Aether and Hemera? Also the dozen or so kids Nyx has all by herself, from Thanatos, god of death, to Eris, strife incarnate.
Hello! I somewhat answered this previously, so I will partially be copy and pasting from the previous answer.
I don’t necessarily plan on including all of Nyx’s children because holy crap, but here are a few, some you’re already aware of: Thanatos (Shadow), Hypnos (Omega), Charon (Cream), Erinyes/Furies (Jet, Wave, Storm), Moirai (Tangle, Whisper, Lanolin), and Nemesis (Tikal or Shade, leaning more towards Tikal).
Since you specifically requested a counterpart for Eris, I would say that I would assign Surge the Tenrec rather tentatively to this role. I haven’t been able to do a deep dive into Surge at this time, but she does seem like the erratic type leaning more towards destructive and explosive. From what I’ve been able to glean of her, she is associated with a lot of strife and, as of my current knowledge, really does her own thing rather than take sides.
I was hoping that someone would bring up Hemera because I had a special someone picked out for her from the start.
Hemera is Maria Robotnik. Much like Maria, Hemera is often seen as a symbol of youth and radiance. She is the polar opposite of darkness, being the Goddess of Day. Therefore, in the way that Black Doom represents some connection of darkness to Shadow physically and emotionally, Maria represents the light in him. Being as Hemera is a daughter of Nyx, that would make her Thanatos’ brother. She is in Tartarus while Nyx is out. This part, I may twist the story to be that she’s there permanently. Sorry, Shadow/Thanatos.
As for Aether- you’ll just have to see. 😉

I heard that the scrapped idea for the cancelled third Sonic Storybook Game was supposedly going to be Greek Mythology themed, so I propose this: A Hades and Persephone Retelling.
Here’s some key points that I’ve come up with and will tweak or modify as I come up with them. I hope to make this into a full-fledged comic at some point and will get some concept art out hopefully in the next few days.
Synopsis: Sonic is summoned by Demeter to rescue Persephone, her daughter, from the dreadful God of the Dead, Hades, who has kidnapped her and is holding her hostage in the Underworld. However, as Sonic meets the rest of the Pantheon, he begins to suspect that there is more to the situation. His suspicions further arise as he travels within the Underworld, finding that things are not quite as the stories, and Demeter, claim.
Character assignments below the cut
The Pantheon
Eggman as Zeus (Side note: Hilariously he’s the only one to actually call Sonic a hedgehog as they were there in Ancient Greece. Apparently as pest control or weather predictors. Also: Eggman.)
Agent Stone as Hera
Sage as Athena
Metal Sonic as Hephaestus
Tails as Hermes
Mephiles as Poseidon
Vector as Dionysus “More wi-juice! I mean… juice! Yep!”
Knuckles as Ares
Rouge as Aphrodite
Espio as Artemis
Blaze as Hestia “I tend to stay out of these affairs…”
Silver as Helios
Charmy as Apollo
Cthonic Deities
Big as Cerberus “I warned yah buddy. You should turn back now while you have the chance.”
Omega as Hypnos “IT IS IMPORTANT FOR INFERIOR ORGANIC LIFEFORMS TO GET THE ALLOTTED EIGHT HOURS OF SLEEP IN ORDER TO REMAIN FUNCTIONAL.”
Shadow as Thanatos
Amy as Hecate
Sticks as Styx
Cream as Charon “Welcome to the Underworld! Please step aboard my boat and I’ll take you wherever you need to be- but first: obol please!”
Babylon Rogues as the Furies “Lord Hades said that you’re a slippery one and wants us to take you in alive. But he didn’t say anything about not making it hurt.”
Tom and Maddie (cameo?) as Odysseus and Penelope (note: Demeter has attempted to kidnap Persephone back many many times, hence why they are there now despite the original myth taking place before The Odyssey)
Maybe Tangle, Whisper, and Lanolin as the Fates
Hades and Persephone are both “humans” like Demeter.
Demeter has fiery red hair/auburn hair like a maple leaf. She is very fall/autumn themed. Something something if I had a nickel for every red head who betrayed me I’d have 15 cents and that’s a lot actually what the fuck
Her final form (boss mode) is winter themed.
Ascalaphus - one of Hades’ orchadists, turned into a screech owl and enslaved by Demeter. She sends them to go with Hermes and Sonic to the Underworld to ensure that Hermes won’t stray from the mission. May turn on her as the story progresses?

Both
I'd wonder what would happen if cream and sisters were the fates.
Now, that is interesting. If I assigned Cream as a Moirai, I would say she's closest to Clotho. She's so young and full of life and creativity, that I would imagine she'd happily spin up all sorts of lives for people.
And to tie in with the "both" portion. I sketched up these quick concepts of Thanatos and Hypnos if they were triplets with Charon!
Tumblr media
For these two, if they were Fates instead- I'd assign the Thanatos sister to Atropos, being that she cuts the thread of life. She isn't particularly unhappy or happy about this; just like as Thanatos: it's her job, and it has to be done by someone.
The Hypnos sister would of course then be Lachesis, I imagine that when she's not tired or sleeping herself, she's rather sharp, chatty, and sarcastic. She would have no problem measuring the length of someone's life- maybe even make a game out of it.
Thanks for the ask! I hope this answered it!
