Hey! I'm sonic the hedgehog I'm a fictive in a system and I wanted to ask for a canon call for a Tails? Uh a bit more about my source is it's mostly canon compliant but I am trans and found Tails when he was about 4 and I was about 10 I was mute and you taught me how to speak and you'd always find your way into my bed when it got cold out. I'm 20 (physically the body is 23) and just wanted to see if I could find my kid brother. While I'm here: I know it's been nearly a year since I officially put the blog on semi-hiatus. I was really hoping I'd be able to pick things back up a bit faster. Rest assured that I think about this blog nigh-on constantly, it's just that life and the world are so much. I know I'm not the only one who's been overwhelmed.

Happy New Year! Updates and housekeeping

Everyone who is still here, thank you for your support through the radio silence as this blog has been going through all the difficulty we've all come to expect from the 2020s.

I am still the only active mod. I didn't actually realize how long it had been since anyone else posted -- two years now. I have finally lost contact with Mods Silver and Whisper and their system. Don't worry, I know they're okay, and I'm glad they've gotten comfortable living openly and authentically as a system and are doing what makes them happy.

The main blog they used to create this blog has been abandoned for two years, and even back then it was clear that they were abandoning it permanently. So even though their account is still an admin on this blog, they don't actually have access to it anymore. At some point they deleted the discord server. I'm not sure when that was.

Besides them, there are still three other admins on this blog. I'm pretty sure none of them are ever going to post here again.

So, I'm doing something I didn't want to do, because I kept hoping that I wasn't really the last one left here. I'm going to consider myself as the primary owner of this blog from here on out and do a reboot. If former admins (especially Silver) come back and get upset at me for this, I'm truly sorry. I just can't bear to see this blog gasp and die like this anymore.

What this reboot entails

Immediately after posting this, I'm going to start fiddling with the blog layout. I'm not as good with tumblr themes as the one who set the blog up, and I don't want to break anything, so I'm probably not going to mess with it much. But I'm going to clean out all the old outdated information. I might also delete a nav page or two that don't make sense to have anymore.

I'm going to clean out the askbox and trigger-tag list. I hate to do it, but it's time to start fresh. If you have a request that hasn't been done and you still want it, send it in again. If you have a trigger you still need tagged, send it in again. (The old trigger-tag list was stored on the discord, so I don't have access to it anymore anyway.)

I'm going to rewrite the rules, FAQ, and pinned post. There's a good chance I won't change them much, but I just want to make sure they're accurate to the limitations and boundaries that exist now, and that's gonna be different from when the blog was created.

And, most importantly, I'm going to take on some new mods. I'll have to figure out a way for us to communicate besides a discord server (I'm over the 100-server limit and I don't have money for Nitro anymore) but this was never a blog I could effectively manage completely on my own. I want to have a team again, so everyone can have their requests done in days instead of months.

Thank you all again for your support. I'm glad that, despite everything, this blog is still here.

Hey, it's Knuckles again with another periodic update.

You probably noticed, I've been posting canoncalls as soon as I see them. I feel like it's important to help y'all find each other, especially with times being so difficult. Also, they are the least time and effort intensive things to post.

I am planning to start going through the backlog of aesthetic requests again and getting them made. They do take awhile, especially now that I'm being more mindful and making sure to only use public domain, free-to-use-without-credit, and official Sega assets. This also saves me the time maintaining the separate source blog (although I do still keep track of sources while I'm building the boards in case anyone wants to ask for them).

I'm not planning to do other request types like playlists and stimboards... I feel really guilty seeing so many of those waiting to be done but they're just more challenging than I can handle yet.

I would open applications for new mods, but that's not something I am able to do without Silver, and I really don't want to bother him about it. He has enough to deal with. So, I am stuck as the only mod (rather, the only one who still regularly checks the blog) for the foreseeable future.

I use Discord a lot more than Tumblr these days... Sadly the official server for the blog is not as active as it once was, but I have an 18+ Sonic kincord that's been going strong for about a year and a half now. (Silver gave me permission to promo it last time we spoke but I never actually did...) If you're a minor or you want to join more than one server I recommend The Mobian Luminary.

whats a canon call? and whats a self care item? and whats "positivity" i uh, dont really know 😅

A canoncall is sort of a shout to find specific other fictionkin. Usually it's spiritual reincarnation kin looking for the people they knew in their past life, known as canonmates. It's pretty common though for people to use a "canoncall" just to reach out to people who identify with particular characters without worrying about the specifics of that identity, mostly looking to make new friends.

A self care item, at least in the context of a kin help blog, is a single item in a self care board or set. Basically it's an item we recommend for the requester to buy and use for self care. It can be anything from stim toys to objects that help with kin dysphoria to treats or anything that might be comforting.

Positivity, in this context, is a paragraph or so of validation or encouragement that we write, tailored to the requested kintype. It can definitely get more specific to the individual requester but I haven't really seen any of those in my time here.
