hi everyone, for this post i'm gonna be ranking all of the released albums (albums on streaming) by the garden and sharing my top 3 songs from each! this will just be including album releases not eps! i hope you enjoy reading!!
(also just a disclaimer i'm gonna be trying a new format for today's post!!)
mirror might steal your charm - 2018
Tumblr media
this album means so much to me just from how unique it was for its time, the music videos, and the sound that it produces. i really need to review this album because it would be suchhhh a long review! i love the moments of silliness and then seriousness thats on this record and i overall love it! top 3 songs 1. no destination 2. call the dogs out 3. stylish spit
2. haha - 2015
Tumblr media
i love this album!! its so high because of how futuristic it sounds for 2015!! if i wasn't a huge fan of the garden and you told me that these songs were released this year, id believe you!! it has so many of my favorite songs. this album also has the song that really lifted their career to a new level which i really appreciate!!! top 3 songs 1. this could build us a home 2. vexation 3. red green yellow
3. horseshit on route 66 - 2022
Tumblr media
this album i love so much because of the vibe around it. its my favorite album of theirs stylistically! the music videos are amazing and match the music amazingly! it'd be higher but i think it has more weak points that the other two albums i've listed already. top 3 songs  1. oc93 2. freight yard 3. chainsaw the door
4. kiss my super bowl ring - 2020
Tumblr media
it feels wrong putting this album so low!!! i love the sound of this album so much but i think it has more individual stand out songs than overall album quality. (it does have some of my fav songs by them of all time though!!!!) top 3 songs 1. lurkin' ft khalif jones 2. please, fuck off 3. a struggle
5. the life and times of a paper clip - 2013
Tumblr media
this album is good but not one of my favorites from them, its not very long and more ep length than an album in my opinion. (shorter albums earlier in their discography are a very common theme.) top 3 songs 1. vada vada 2. im a woman 3. the apple
6. everything is perfect - 2012
Tumblr media
again, very similar points from the last album, the songs are very short and its more ep length. some of the songs on here are a little forgettable too. top 3 songs 1. estamos aqui 2. aunt j 3. everything is perfect
7. the garden - 2012
Tumblr media
very similar points once again, but just to a whole new extreme. the songs are really short and the titles are really forgettable. top 3 songs 1. the gorilla 2. the tower 3. the castle
i hope you all enjoyed reading!!! bye! : D

record review of the day #7
todos los días todo el día by latin mafia
genre - latin r&b, experimental r&b
(i cannot speak spanish so this rating will mainly be based on musical / vocal performance rather than lyrics!)
today i listened to 'todos los días todo el día' by latin mafia for the first time. this album was a recommendation from my boyfriend, so shout out to him! this album opens with 'siento que merezco.' it starts with a minor piano in the background with some flutes, which i think is a really nice touch to it, but then evolves into a heavy bass with muffled vocals in the middle. it then returns to the piano at the end, which resolves the song in a really nice way. the first thing that came to my mind when hearing this song was the impressive high-pitched vocals from the member delivering the vocals. the vocals sound really well mixed in, and i think this track was a really good starter for this album, as it sort of encapsulates what the album has in store just from the first track! the next song on this record i find really interesting because of the choices of how they've chopped the vocals. this song is 'y como te digo que,' and i can't even really describe how they chopped the vocals up; you have to listen to the song to know what i'm on about. it's really unique and a definite standout on this record. the instrumental also accompanies the vocals really well; there are lots of pads, which are a very similar tone to the vocals. it's a definite favorite for me on this record and gives it a very strong start! next, in my opinion, is one of the weaker tracks, 'nunca he sido honesto.' it's a solid song that fits with the album completely and and that has some good moments, for example, the instrumental parts with the piano and violins, but i just think there are much stronger songs on this record. i think this track would be improved with the vocals during the chorus being louder. in contrast, a run of my three favorites is up next with 'me estoy cayendo,' 'sentado aqui,' and 'vivo si me exiges.' me estoy cayendo is a very lo-fi summery song to me and perfect for a summer playlist; i really like how the vocalist's voice goes with the beat. it's a very beautiful song with great production. i, in particular, like the drums in the chorus; they sound very different and unique compared to other parts of the album! my next favorite, sentado aqui, is more upbeat than other songs on this album, which makes it a standout to me. i really love the bass one shots that you hear at about 1:20 and at other points in the song the most; they add a really nice touch to the song, and i overall really like this song! my most favorite song on this record however is 'vivo si me exiges'. it's a song i can see myself revisiting lots in the future, i think it's very emotional and one of the best produced songs on this whole record. my favorite part is the 'bass drop' if that's the right word for it, it's incredibly impactful and sonically beautiful and probably my favorite moment on the album.
moving onto the second half of the album, we have ANOTHER one of my favorites (all my favs are in a row xd). this song is 'pero me estoy acabando', it's a really atmospheric song but with some really interesting drums as well. i'll for sure be revisiting this song often like the last couple of tracks, and it's another definite stand out song. i love the vocals on this song, they go hand in hand with the instrumental and sound incredibly well mixed in!! it's memorable, and so unique compared to the rest of the songs. the next song takes a sort of 180 from the rest of them ‘que vamos a hacer’ is a mainly hip hop oriented song but with lots of twists and experimental elements to it, the drums at the start are quite typical, but evolve into bigger and better drums paired with an amazing bass melody in the background. this track almost feels monumental and just huge, this album has so little misses on it and honestly really surprised me as i don't think it’d quite be my thing, it's just a reminder to try new music despite if you think you wouldn't like it!!! another reason i really like this album is the contrast and difference from track to track, because the next song ‘yo siempre contesto’ is a really slow and soft song. it features some really slow minor jazz like drums with some sweet chords in the background. by the end of this track it almost changes into something bigger and more atmospheric (much like que vamos a hacer) with the bass and drums being enhanced and heightened. the first ‘interlude’ type song that we see on this album is ‘ven,’ it's mainly instrumental with some small vocal moments, i just love how climactic it is and the unintentional world building that's on this record. it does almost transport you to a different place at times!!! to close this album, we get a perfect closing song in my opinion!! ‘tengo mucho ruido’ is all the things i would've liked to hear to close this album. it takes all the monumental vocal and instrumental qualities from this album that i love and shoved them into one huge, amazing song. there's so much happening from amazing bass filled dramatic moments, to parts with little to no instrumental and heavenly airy vocals. much like the first track, it does also encapsulate the whole album into one song as a final moment. this album was very well laid out and ordered which is something i usually have an issue with and with this record i don't think that!! in conclusion i really liked listening and writing about this album, listening to new music never gets old for me and i always love experiencing something great for the first time! it has so many elements of music that i love to hear and wish i could find more (in particular the atmospheric and ambient qualities), and i really enjoyed it! also most thank you to my boyfriend for recommending this to me!

(mini) record review of the day #6
six desperate ballads ep by the garden
genre - post punk, art punk, dnb
the garden are one of my favorite bands right now, and i've wanted to review this ep for a while since it's one of my favorites of all time! the ep opens with ‘filthy rabbit hole,’ a drum-heavy punk song that opens the ep with a clear vibe and sound they’re going for. this whole ep is very sonically different from their other records, but they deliver this heavy yet melodic sound very well the whole way through. in this song, i especially like the gun sound effect that's heard quite early; i think it adds a really nice touch, and i love when the boys use sound effects in really any song. the delivery and timing are always amazing and always add uniqueness to the song. next up on this ep is ‘the nightmare.’ the name is incredibly fitting, as it delivers this haunting undertone all through the song. it has dnb amen breaks as the drumbeat and this underlining pad in a scary tone. this song also has sound effects, with whistling and howling being heard. all these elements, compiled with wyatt's typical vocals, make a very interesting and horror-esque song. to close the first half of this ep is definitely one of my favorites from the garden, ‘man of the people.’ this song has been on loop since i first listened to this ep; the chorus is so catchy and always in my head. to me, it really stands out because of its unique sound that contrasts the rest of their discography. wyatt’s vocals on this song also stick out to me a lot; there are whispers and screams from him, which sound great and are well mixed in through the entire song. the guitar almost feels emotional and catches my attention every time the song starts. this song is probably a top 3 song from them despite it sounding quite different from some of their other tracks.
moving onto the second half of this ep, we get ‘hell hole,’ which is another drum-heavy, sound-effect-heavy song. it fits really nicely with the rest of the songs on this ep and even contains some reoccurring sounds from other songs, which i really like seeing in projects. it's incredibly fast-paced in parts and captures the punk genre of this ep perfectly! i don't see anyone talking about this song either… really underrated in my opinion! nearing the end of this ep, we get a quite upbeat song compared to the rest of the songs, ‘open hearted.’ it's still very punk but feels a lot happier than the other songs, which makes it stick out to me. it has this catchy piano all throughout it with vocals that flow with it perfectly, which gives this song a lot of longevity and rhythm to it. to close off this album is another all-time favorite from the boys from me, ‘ballet.’ this song perfectly encapsulates what the garden is, in my opinion; it mixes elements of punk and dnb (which is common if you’re familiar with their discography) but in a really new and inventive way. i have some bias toward this song because i heard it live in 2024 and absolutely loved it, and i strongly believe any song by the garden is enhanced if it has any laugh sample in it! it has moments of straight guitar and drums, dance music, and a mixture of both, which i think makes this track so unique, not just in their discography but in general. it's definitely the most fun song on the album; i feel like it's impossible to just skip it because of how great it is as a track. i also love the music video for this song; i could watch it over and over and not get bored of the visuals or music. the only negative i have about this song is that i wish it was longer!!!! in conclusion, i truly believe this ep is flawless and some of my favorite music out there in general. it's new, inventive, and all the things i like to see in a consistent project from one of my favorite bands. i'd love to see more music like this from the boys in the future, and i really hope they stay on this track for projects together moving forward!

record review of the day #5
e by ecco2k - 2019
genre - experimental pop, ambient, art pop, hyperpop
today i listened to e by ecco2k (not my first rodeo) and this record truly never gets old to me. its full of life, experimental music, and just fun. this album opens with a now incredibly popular track from zak, 'aaa powerline'. this is one of those songs where you completely understand it, or think its boring, but in my mind these are the best type of songs. if you get it, you get it and that concept is so camp in this context. this song contains repeated lyrics for almost the full duration of the track. zak repeats the lyrics, 'crushing rocks with oyster card, so nauseous can't sleep it off. backseat of some car zip tied up, can't move my arms.' for the vast majority of the song with some exceptions for changes in the instrumental and lyrics at time. i think this opening track is incredible and popular for a reason. these lyrics tell you so much about what the album is about and what you're getting into without telling you much at all, which is beautiful. the minimal, yet effective ethereal instrumental just nails this into your head even more making this song sound amazing. this song is just the beginning if i even mention the track to come. track 2 is 'peroxide' and if you don't recognize that name you're missing OUT! peroxide is an incredibly special song not just in zak's discography, but just in the grand scheme of things in my opinion. the lyrics to this song are very similar to aaa powerline with the opening lyrics being 'at the bus stop, crushing rocks.' the production on this song is unbelievably amazing in so many aspects, its dreamy and truly one of a kind. peroxide is probably one of my favorite songs ever and for good reason! its a fan favorite and that's 100% understandable, its amazing! just to put the cherry on top of the already perfect cake, peroxide also delivers an excellent music video that completely just bottles up the vibe of the song and gives it a visual edition. i hope its clear how much i like this song xd! moving on from peroxide we're met with 'fragile' which delivers the same heavenly beat and amazing vocal performances as the previous two. zak sounds like an angel on this song on top of the ethereal flute-like instrumental. this song isn't one of my top favorites on e, but that doesn't mean i don't think its good because i love this album! 'bliss fields' is the next track and is actually an interlude. its very short and showcases some dialogue from zak. i think its a good edition to the album and fits the album very well! nearing the middle point of the album, we are met with 'fruit bleed juice' and 'cc'. fruit bleed juice is another song that includes lots of repetition in lyrics, repeating 'its sweet like juice' for the majority of it. its quite a short song, but i really like the production. it really reminds me of the entirety of bjork's 'cornucopia' with the bird sounds and interesting musical choices. the next track 'cc' is one i'm not a huge fan of, i think its arranged quite weirdly, but there's moments from this song that i do enjoy!
the second half of this album is opened with one of my favorites off of this album, 'calcium'. the production on this song stays consistent with the rest of the song put it feels more powerful and tense? there's these kick drums in parts of the song which i think gives this effect. in a way. the verses and chorus on this song are some of my favorite moments off of this record, they're always stuck in my head!! i see a theme on this album a lot, that zak always puts the best songs in a 2 run go! the next song is 'sugar & diesel' and another one of my favorites! apart from peroxide, i think that ecco sounds the best on this song vocally. he delivers these airy and high pitched vocals throughout the song without much / any assistance from autotune at all. the melody in the instrumental is also so addictive and it almost represents the title in my eyes, the instrumental sounds like sugar and diesel!! next on this album is 'don't ask'. i have very split opinions on this song in general. i really like both the vocal performance and the instrumental, don't get me wrong but together they don't sound right to me. id love to see both elements on this song repurposed into something else! that's not to say i don't enjoy this track, because i do! i just think the vocals and instrumental sound quite disconnected in a way. as we near closer to the end of the album, zak hits us with 'security' an ultimate love / breakup song in my opinion! this track has some of my favorite lyrics on the whole record that i take to heart every time i give this album a spin. all the fun and memorable melodies on this album is really what makes it for me! they make the listening experience so enjoyable and they always put me in a good mood! this is shown on security very clearly, its bouncy, fun, and just overall great! i feel lie the end of this album is quite sinister? in a way. both closing tracks 'time' and 'blue eyes' create quite dark themes in my opinion. time feels more aggressive than all the tracks that have been showcase before. it contains heavier vocals from zak, when we have previously heard the angelic vocals he's most well known for. i think its a really interesting and engaging song. this track again follows the theme of repetition in this song, especially at the end' with ecco repeating 'the clock don't stop' over and over again. the sinister and more angry feel from time continues into blue eyes 100%. blue eyes is actually one of my most favorites off of this album even though its not very long, and again takes that element of repetition with repetition of phrases such as 'blue skies', 'all of my friends got blue eyes', and 'all of the rest, all the rest no one left, no one left everyone else they're gone, they left'. its probably the most interesting song on this album to me because of the new side of zak you see on it, a side of him vocally and production wise that isn't shown on the album until this point.
in conclusion to my review, ill always enjoy this album thoroughly despite elements i don't like as much. its so much fun its near impossible to hate this album!!!

record review of the day #4
boy by 2hollis - 2024
genre - hyperpop, dance, edm, electropop
i listened to 'boy' by 2hollis for the first time in full today, and was not let down by it! it combines so many genres and elements in one record, like hyperpop, dance, dnb at times. the first listen was so much fun and a very enjoyable experience. it provokes so many emotions while listening, even for a mainly dance based record. the first track, ‘you once said my name for the first time’ was surprising to me as its a heartfelt, long ballad of a song. it’s not quite the type of thing id just put on, but its a strong and powerful start for an album by an artist like 2hollis. it catches you off guard and i think it was a smart choice in placement for this record. next on the record we launch into 2 of my favorite tracks ‘two bad’ and ‘sister’. two bad is an upbeat edm and dnb track that's interesting throughout the whole song, and sister is a more slow-paced dance song with a very unique and stand out type of production for hollis. two bad also incredibly reminds me of an ericdoa song, just a side note. i'm talking about these two songs in particular grouped together because they do something very unique that i don’t see happen in albums very often at all. at the end of two bad, it mixes in elements of the upcoming track, sister, leaving it with this dj set like transition if you're listening to the album in order. i think this is a really cool effect that ill remember from this album! we see fan favorite ‘crush’ here which is one of my least favorites from boy despite its popularity. in my opinion, it would've been better released as a single away from boy. i understand why its popular, the catchy melody and chorus, but it just feels a little disconnected from the album to me. i do however like the hardstyle dnb break at the end of it! another song that's very overlooked is 'i saw it flash before me'. this song is mainly instrumental and very typical of the album, i wouldn't say its one of my most favorites as it isn't as interesting as some other songs on this record but it still fits in well with the vibe! the next track we see that really sticks out to me is ‘say it again’ which is a song followed by an appropriately named interlude ‘say it’. this song is probably the most fun you'll have on this album, its explosive with interesting vocal choices, crazy production, and catchy everything! its definitely one of my favorites on ‘boy’, it sticks out hugely to me and i revisit this song very often!
going into the second half of ‘boy’ we’re met with ‘teenage soldier’. its angry, angsty, and overall incredibly emotional. it has loud punches of bass and raspy vocals from hollis, without it feeling off brand for the album. its another one of my favorites and i really think it sounds like an aldn or brakence song! ‘lie’ is the next song and delivers some interesting and memorable flows, but i think the beat is quite boring for 'boy', if i could navigate fl i'd reprod it in an instant xd! another few of my favorites are ‘promise’ and ‘3’. ‘promise’ is another emotional song from hollis, and really reminds me of ‘teenage soldier’ because of the hard bass that's scattered throughout the song with breaks of emotional lyrics. ‘3’ is incredibly different to this. its an instrumental track from hollis that shows all his capabilities in production amazingly. its highly underrated and has some of the best instrumental moments on the whole record. when i listen to this song, i often wonder how it'd sound if hollis put vocals onto it but i think it left as an instrumental is just as powerful and makes the record even more diverse as it contains a mix of mainly instrumental tracks like ‘3’ and ‘say it’ but also songs loaded with strong vocal performances, which i think is really cool. nearing closer to the end of the album, i can tell you now it goes out with a bang!! the album closes with tracks 'light' and 'mountain'. the song 'light' really reminds me of another track from hollis but i cant put my finger on it!! (if anyone has any idea what i could be thinking of lmk lol)!! its another dancey track that fits right in with the album, but blends in a little bit to some of his other songs. that's not necessarily a bad thing but just a note! the outro track, 'mountain' really took me by surprise. its similar to 'teenage soldier' in a way because of the underlining bass and whiney (in a good way) vocals. despite their similarities its a completely different, and heart wrenching track to end the album on. these types of 2hollis songs are some of my favorite because it shows how different his catalog can be, from hardstyle edm songs to heart break songs with powerful vocals. its definitely one of my favorites on 'boy'
all and all, i'm very impressed by this record from hollis! i think this may be his best work to date and there's little details from this album that will stick with me!! the experimentation of edm is something i hope to see more in the future of music and with emerging artists, because its great!!

record review of the day #2
praise a lord who chews but which simply does not consume; (or simply, hot between worlds) - 2023
genre - electronic experimental rock, neo-psychedelia
this album was my SOUNDTRACK when it came out! it blows me away every time! its one of those albums i dont listen to all the time just so it keeps that nostalgic charm to it. sean’s vocal ability on this album is by far one of the most unique tones ive seen on an album before. its whiney, yet addicting. their talented vocals are often paired with female vocals throughout the album and it sounds breathtaking. sean’s vocals are truly underrated in all aspects (so is his music too but thats a different conversation!) the lyrics on this album are beautifully done. a common lyrical theme is god and religon on this album, and every lyric feels purposeful and filled with different takes and perspectives to how it could be perceived.
the lyrics of this album are just a part of a huge bigger picture when combined with the instrumentals. it combines experimental alt rock with psychedelia all into one big masterpiece that is this album. theres dreamy guitars, synths scattered in places you wouldn’t even think, harmonies places at the perfect and catchiest times. even if this was an instrumental album and was lacking the amazing lyrics, itd still get stuck in my head repeatedly. the whole album is just dreamy, magical, and never gets old.

record review of the day #1
i didn't mean to haunt you by quadeca! - 2022
genre - folktronica, alternative
wow, what an album! whenever i come back to this record i'm blown away every. single. time. not only is this album amazing to its core, its so emotionally complex and touches me every time! i'm also very connected to this album because of the time of my life i first listened to it and how it helped me get through that time. the lyrics are so smart and complex throughout every song, it really takes you on a narrative without it being over explanatory which is something that concept albums suck at sometimes. its the perfect balance of "i'm telling you a story" and "i'm actually making you think about it" it follows the story of quadeca as a ghost, going through stages of regret, anger, and acceptance. i'm not gonna lie when i was like 13 i made a full google doc breaking down every lyric and finding connections and making theories... if this album could touch 13 year old me to that extent its got! to be good. bens delivery and vocal performances presenting these lyrics are the cherry on top too. every song has outstanding vocals that make the album 10x more atmospheric than it already is.
as well as the breathtaking lyrics and outstanding vocals, the instrumentals are amazing and genre defining. the description of 'folktronica' when it comes to this album is perfect in my eyes. it blends elements of folk, shoegaze, electronica, and hip hop into one album. it sounds ridiculous when you say it together like that but if you've listened to this album you'd understand!! to think ben composed and mixed this album almost completely (if not completely on his own) is unbelievable. its so complex but you can tell that he put his heart into this album and the composition behind it even from the first listen. truly gives me goosebumps every single time!!
accompanied with the amazing song writing and instrumentation, ben also delivered so many great music videos for this album that completely matched the vibe and concept of the album. with the album comes with music videos for born yesterday, fractions of infinity, tell me a joke, and a full album movie to top it off. they completely immerse you into the universe that ben creates in this album.

hi everyone this is my ranking of my top 3 favorite songs on jane remover's census designated! hope u enjoy!!
fling
this is like my all time favorite jane song! its so perfect in its entirety and i could talk about it foreverrr!! to start, i love the glitchy/muffled beat that's at the start and shown in verses throughout the song, its a type of instrumental that's not shown too often on the album which is why it stands out to me so much! don't get me started on the chorus!! it actually never leaves my brain its so catchy! her vocal performances on this song are also so amazing its crazy
my favorite moment in this song is 2:04-2:30
"arm candy fallen onto his lap. take a bite. to soak all the pain, he tells me how he misses the past. well i wish i could say the same!"
the way the instrumental reduces to just the guitar and noise-ey sounds that come off it make these lines soo much more affective, this is probably my favorite jane moment everr!
2.  backseat girl
this song is so special! her vocal performances and the glitchy yet shoegaze-esque instrumental is so cool!! i love the riffs that she does on this song and always find myself muttering them to myself loll
my favorite moment from this song is 2:23-3:00
“ but i let him drive, and i dont know why. as if it ever was that easy? i pick your face apart, put the brakes on in a 60. playing with your heart. and you could never scratch me out of your skin. the queen plays her cards right, but i always win, boy”
ughh!! the riff she does when she says ‘and it never was that easy?’ has to be one of my favorite jane moments everr!!!!! this whole song is amazeballs
3. idling somewhere
wow! this song is amazing! the haunting almost beeping? sounds you can hear on it is one of my favorite parts. the chorus of this song is super catchy and definitely my standout! its such a powerful height to the song with gorgeous lyrics and imagery throughout.
my favorite moment in this song is 1:50-2:27
"how to eat myself alive, you taught me everything. tip the crown, know its wrong, but i had somewhere to start. half a mind, half a brain, but just enough, its so hard. watch me down, know i'm bad, i always get what i want. felt it coming off me, losing grip of his arm. it passed his knuckles and i asked to turn the pain up a notch. don't leave it on."
i love these lyrics so much they never get old and theyre so clever. her line delivery in this song is so amazing too!!
that's it i hope everyone liked reading byeeeeeeeeeee!
