BiAsBuckâs June ficrec Jamboree.
Hi everyone, happy Summer hiatus! Wow have you all been busy, there's so many incredible stories and art out there right now. I'm back with another round of fic that I've read and loved over the last month. It's a big one!!
As always you can find previous rec lists here.
21 June 2025
a one time thing (every time) by @fcntasmas back with a bang, this is a 40k 'what if Buck and Eddie were 'platonically' hooking up all along ever since 2x01, but didn't mean to catch feelings along the way' fic, with Eddie having feelings realisation first and spiralling accordingly. Completely gripping and an emotional rollercoaster, these two dummies can be soooo stupid (in love.) - I also adored the season 9 spec fic with Buck and Sophia Diaz roommates.
the taking of station 118 by pinkdoughnut was JUST what I needed to read post season 8 - with the firefam still grieving, Chim steps into the role of Captain, and right into our spec season 9 opening disaster AND a firehouse hostage situation. Brilliantly characterised team dynamics and some lovely buddie along the way.
hope is a well with no bottom (but you make me feel full)Â by @facewithoutheart super horny slightly voyeuristic Eddie keeps accidentally coming home early during roommate era whilst Buck is hooking up with people in his private time, and conspires to manifest this for himself. Hot and silly and fun.
let every man be master of his time by @illgetmerope a timeloop fic! Buck wakes up on his day off...and a frantic Eddie arrives on his doorstep. You see Eddie's been stuck in a loop and Buck keeps dying of a suspected aneurism, no matter how early he flies back from El Paso to warn him. When Buck inadvertently gets dragged into the loop with him, he assumes he's having another coma dream! How many loops will it take to figure it out? I loved the claustrophobia and sense of ever increasing desperation but also the way that feelings clicked into place through time (it's giving me Window of Opportunity, iykyk.)
on nights when i'm hollow by @sonofatoasterwaffle angry hurt/comfort with not too much comfort at first grief hook up fic, following the kitchen fight scene. This one is visceral and has claws and I loved it a lot. When you love someone so much you know exactly the right way to hit them where it hurts.
you need to cry, baby by @roosterseresin 'The first time it happens it scared the shit out of Eddie.' Buck keeps crying during sex (but in an affirming way). Cathartic and sweet, and overflowing with feeling (just like Buck.)
Getting Better All the Time by @glorious-spoon 'Buck walks in on Eddie watching porn. It escalates from there.' oh weewookinkmeme how you have blessed us so! We're gonna have to stain guard the couch. Such a lovely build of tension and embarrassment and succumbing to horniness.
four thousand miles to you by @spaceshipkat okay but Kat has been keeping us FED this month!! I literally couldn't pick which fic to rec at first so go read them all, but oh this one really stuck with me. 'Itâs been over two months of chasing Buck across the country, from state to state to state, following a trail he suspects Buck doesnât realize heâs dropping breadcrumbs on. If he did, Eddie worries heâd stop sending the postcards, and theyâre his only clues.' I love postcard fic, and the chase and almosts and bubbling undercurrents of hurt and love and hope runs throughout. Gorgeous!
if food be the language of love (eat up!)Â by @chronicowboy Buck's learned love language is food, via Bobby. So with him gone, he...stops cooking. But soon he realises that maybe he needs this language to communicate with Eddie in the way he knows best. Grief and love and care. Such a beautiful healing journey.
i kinda wanna kiss your boyfriend if you donât mind by @buckme 'Buck and Eddie get together. The people of LA are blinded by how attractive the two of them are once they're happy, and lots of flirting ensues.' Such an excellent set up, and so much fun to read. Loved the firefam being like, oh no, it's the new couple glow! Brilliant.
After the first time by @starlingbite 'Post season 8 - In which Buck and Eddie rush into sex before talking things through, resulting in Buck panicking ever so slightly in the middle of the night.' This is a short but sweet fic, beautifully sparsely written to show that late night time passing ticking clock, with some deeply relatable oh shit now what insomnia!
tux and flipper by @bisexualbellamyblake look something you have to know about me is I love me a gay penguin metaphor...can name you at least two gay penguin published stories to read right now, and am very delighted that buddie now have their own! 'Eddie comes out to Buck; Buck thinks he wants to go to the zoo.' So funny and delightfully endearing.
crawling back to you by @islandoforder 'post season 8, Buck confesses his feelings, Eddie lets him down as gently as he can, and they both try to figure out how to be just friends.' In which Eddie bluescreens, Buck and Eddie both go through seven depths of hell and introspection and panic, and eventually everything works out. Oh this one gave me so many emotions, gorgeously built up, and such a well crafted grasp on the quiet devastation of trying to stop things from changing when they already have.
pink like the inside of your by @themisally and finally I am dropping to my knees like an oasis in a desert and bowing down to this weewookinkmeme henren fic, in which Hen has made a deck of colour-coded flashcards to revise for her anatomy final, before Karen convinces her to try a more practical revision approach. So so sensual and erotic, dear god, I am so so so happy this gorgeous f/f fic exists. How many times is it possible to reread it in a week, asking for a friend?
Let's call it there for this month or I'll take up half your dash, but if you can't wait until July, don't forget to check out my daily ficrec tag, where there's even more goodness from this talented fandom!

Proposal for new fandom etiquette:
If you read a fic because it was linked/recced somewhere, you leave a comment saying "came from XXX" and that comment doesn't need to include anything else.
Because when all of a sudden there's a lot of activity on one particular fic I WANNA KNOW WHY!!!!!

okay if anyone wants to read me once again channelling my inner horniness for buckoliver through eddie diaz in the form of rambly ridiculous chatfic here u go FAIR WARNING THOUGH like seriously this is ridiculous and probably very loose characterization and just. so silly. because i wanted to. ok love you bye.
it all happens because eddie comes home early and also bc it's hot as balls out yes so eddie was supposed to be running some errands and be gone for like. several hours, minimum, because they'd been procrastinating on grocery shopping. because hot.
but it's getting embarrassing now with the lack of food so eddie went. buck had made some uncomfortable noises and muttered something about a killer headache, so eddie left a glass of fresh water and a couple of Tylenol on the night table on buck's side, cranked the a/c down even lower, and quietly let himself out the front door to drop chris off at school and then head to trader joes.
but it's hot as balls and eddie gets the bare minimum and goes home
maybe he'll hit up the 24 hour place later tonight when it's not disgusting out he hasn't heard from buck, so he assumes buck is still sleeping, but the bedroom door is open so he must have gotten up at some point. he lets himself back in very very quietly.
he grabs the cold Gatorade bottle from one of the reusable bags and pads down the hall, avoiding the creaky spots, poking his head through the bedroom doorway. "hey, i brought you a- oh."
spoiler alert: buck did NOT have a headache. he needed â¨alone timeâ¨
guess who is actually shocked i will tell you it is, in fact Edmundo diaz
the plastic of the bottle crackles dangerously in the grip of his palm buck shifts and his eyes meet eddie's, horrified. he yelps "EDDIE" and scrambles to pull the top sheet over his- everything
all he can frantically get his hands on is the corner, which flutters pathetically over one of his frankly humongous thighs, so he flails around more and his earbuds fall out beside him and he yanks his navy blue boxer briefs back up over his hips and they make a slapping sound as they snap over his skin. and eddie is frozen. not temperature-wise. temperature-wise he is very very not frozen. he is probably the opposite of frozen. he is sweating. still? again? more? whatever. sooooo very belatedly, eddie smacks a palm over his eyes and yelps back "SORRYÂ ITÂ WASÂ HOT"
and then buck says "âŚ. did you bring me a Gatorade?"
so eddie cannot help but clamp his fingers tighter, trying to erase the image of buck lying on his back in bed, miles of bare skin above and below those briefs, flashes of ink scattered everywhere like a canvas.
the plastic crinklecreaks again and he kind of meekly goes, "um. yes. cause you like the light blue kind. and your headache."
"i'm covered, you can stop that now," buck says first, and then, when they make eye contact again, adds, "i lied about the. the headache. sorry." "yes. i can see⌠that." eddie says, inanely. there is just. so much of buck to look at.
and eddie's attention is particularly drawn to his chest. it's. he's. he's so big, is the thing. big and broad and bulky, and he keeps getting chest tattoos so eddie hasn't seen him shirtless in a while and the last time he did buck was shaved for his ink appointment with parker.
but now it's growing in, auburn and curling and thick. and suddenly, hysterically, all eddie can think is i want to rub my face on his chest
it's so unexpected, he actually goes, "what the fuck", out loud, and buck's face falls and he sits up and tries to cover himself more. "i'm sorry. i should have, um." "what" eddie says, because they live together. buck literally did everything he could have done to ensure privacy other than bar the door shut. "no," eddie says, "you're fine. it's fine." "fine," buck echoes. "yeah." "you say that. but um. you're staring at me. and i think you're about to explode my Gatorade."
eddie throws it on the bed, and it lands with a bounce and rolls down to nudge buck's hip where he's sat with his legs now hanging over the side of the bed. "âŚ.. thanks?" "yeah," eddie says. he might be drooling.
at the very least he is salivating. his mouth is watering and he has to keep swallowing and eventually he takes a breath but it's huge and shuddery and draws buck's attention like a laser. "you have," eddie says, gesturing vaguely at him, "hair." buck looks down at himself and back up, confused. "yes?" eddie takes a step forward, and another, and then realizes what he's doing and backs right up again.
and the thing is. buck is⌠still hard. the bulge is obvious through his briefs and the sheet, even! so buck⌠has a big dick. that's cool. that's fine. that's so, very totally fine with eddie. expected, maybe, even? because he's tall, and he has big feet, and that's a thing, right? eddie's sure he's heard women talk about that before. so there is buck's dick, just, so hard. and so⌠there. and the waistband of the boxer briefs digs into his abdomen a little, so he's got tiny lovehandles on his side and his belly hangs slightly over them in the front, and eddie experiences an extremely visceral reaction of wanting to put his mouth over every goddamn inch of buck's body. every. goddamn. inch.

hmm you know we deserve (and frankly Buck and Eddie also deserve) a well-lit nighttime scene in the bedroom at 4995 south bedford wherein they kiss, of course, and itâs soft at first but it does not stay soft, because they are so horny for each other after seven years, and they deserve to kiss with tongue, a real sloppy style makeout. and they also pull each otherâs shirts off, and Eddie makes some remark on Buckâs tits and Buck kinda does grabby hands at the snatch of Eddieâs waist, and then Eddie shoves Buck back onto the bed before following him down to straddle his lap and Buck is already sitting up to catch Eddieâs mouth because theyâre gonna fuck. we deserve it. they deserve it. frankly ryliver deserve it too.

can i JUST say. for the record. there's only one person on the main cast that's not eating pussy. bc obviously buck is eating pussy like a starving man for breakfast lunch and dinner. eddie is going down so well he can act kinda insane to his girlfriends/wife and get a pass. don't even fucking play w me about chim we all know he loves getting his hair yanked around while eating box. speaking of which bi maddie who lives in my heart DID have a secret girlfriend in high school you know she went down on. bobby is getting handcuffed to the bed and begging his wife to sit on his face SORRY but it's true. and i don't care about your headcanon for who is the BEST at it bc they're all second best to hen anyway, hen's eating pussy like she's about to award it three michelin stars. i will say i don't think athena is eating pussy even if she had a fun lesbian college roommate, but she Does have incredibly high standards for being ate out which is why she had to train bobby so well. case closed.

Dark Fiction Is Protected Speech. Online Harassment Isnât.
Thereâs a rising trend online: people using extreme, hateful language to attack others for liking or creating dark fictionâ stories that explore taboo or disturbing themes. One message recently sent to a fan of dark fiction read:

Letâs break down why this kind of language is not just offensive â it may actually be illegal under U.S. law. And why, by contrast, dark fiction itself is constitutionally protected.
When You Become the Monster You Claim to Fight
1. Calling Someone a Criminal Over Fiction Is a Crime
Falsely accusing someone of supporting child abuse or rape is not âcalling them out.â
Itâs defamation per se a category of libel where the accusation is so serious, the harm is assumed.
U.S. law protects reputation from false statements about criminal activity.
If someone can be reasonably identified (even anonymously), and the claim is false, it may be grounds for a lawsuit.
Legal Reference:
Gertz v. Welch, 418 U.S. 323 (1974) â Private citizens only need to prove negligence.
New York Times v. Sullivan, 376 U.S. 254 (1964) â Public figures must show actual malice.
False claims of criminal acts = automatically defamatory.
If you say someone âencourages rapeâ based on their reading list? Thatâs not activism. Itâs libel.
2. Threats Disguised as Justice Are Still Threats
âIâm the #1 pedophile killerâ is not rhetoric. Itâs not metaphor.
Itâs a true threat, a form of unprotected speech under the First Amendment.
Pair that with slurs, personal targeting, and incitement? Youâre not helping victims youâre becoming the abuser.
What the Law Says:
18 U.S. Code §âŻ2261A â Cyberstalking and online threats
Virginia v. Black, 538 U.S. 343 (2003) â Threats intended to intimidate can be punished
Brandenburg v. Ohio, 395 U.S. 444 (1969) â Inciting imminent lawless action is not protected
3. Hate Speech Doesnât Make You the Hero
The ableist slur used in that message âretardsâ isnât just tasteless. Itâs a weapon.
Itâs the kind of language that, in any other setting, a school, a job, a courtroom, would be grounds for disciplinary action, legal liability, or both.
Itâs not âjust words.â Itâs targeted degradation. And itâs not protected if it becomes part of a pattern of harassment or intimidation.
Hereâs how the law sees it:
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act protect people from disability-based harassment in schools, workplaces, and federally funded programs.
Some states (like California, New York, Washington) extend these protections to online spaces, especially where speech contributes to a hostile environment.
Even outside the courtroom, most platforms (Tumblr, Twitter/X, Discord, etc.) list ableist slurs under their hate speech and harassment policies. Using them can result in bans or suspensions.
The Fiction Isnât Dangerous â Your Fear Is
1. Disturbing Stories Arenât Dangerousâ Misreading Them Is
Dark fiction dives into the shadows, it explores violence, abuse, trauma, and other difficult realities. But to confuse exploration with endorsement is to miss the entire point.
Liking or creating stories about taboo subjects doesnât mean someone condones those acts in real life. It means theyâre grappling with complex ideas and emotions through art.
Imagine banning classics like Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov or American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis because they depict criminal acts. Thatâs exactly what censorship driven by misunderstanding looks like.
Legal Perspective: Fiction is a protected form of expression under the First Amendment, even if it unsettles or offends.
2. The Constitution Protects Art You Donât Like
The First Amendment doesnât just protect nice speech, it protects speech that shocks, disturbs, or disgusts.
Artistic expression, including dark or controversial fiction, is safeguarded unless it falls into very narrow exceptions:
Obscenity: Rarely applies, under the strict Miller Test
True threats and incitement: Only punished if likely to cause immediate harm
Child pornography involving real minors: Always illegal and not protected
A crucial distinction often misunderstood is between actual child pornography and fictional depictions of minors.
But fictional depictions that are clearly not realâno matter how darkâare protected. This was affirmed in Ashcroft v. Free Speech Coalition (2002), which struck down laws that criminalized virtual child pornography or fictional depictions that donât involve real children.
#itâs not ever going to serve anyone to censor things some of us donât like or enjoy#fiction is fiction for a reason#but one ideology shouldnt get to be king#thatâs why weâre in so many extreme political situations right now

For such a competent guy, Eddie is kind of unbelievably bad at taking care of himself. Thereâs something satisfying, soothing even, in just making him do what Buck knows will make him feel better.
this is a fill for the @weewookinkmeme, for the prompt
Buck/Eddie, gentle domming Would love to see Buck realizing how much Eddie LOVES being taken care of even though he can never ask for it, gently domming him when they're alone until it turns sexual.

Two things to prop up right now:
The ACLU - Theyâll do their best to make sure this dumpster fire doesnât turn into a wildfire.
The Trevor Project - Theyâll be fielding a lot of calls, texts, and chats in the next few days and beyond.
And, if you need something, try Finch. Itâs the best self-care app Iâve ever used.
