While I adore WJSN and Cheng Xiao, I think since she has so many gifs and resource already, I’m going to have to pass. I’d rather make resources for fcs who need them!

I want to do a series of FC help for South America, basically for every country, where I put together a list of FC’s from said country with some stats on them (with or without much resources) just so that... you know, every country gets representation.

But I feel like every single post would open with a disclaimer about colonization and how 90% of the fcs for some of the countries probably have no admixture because they’re from the upper class usually (ie: descendants of white colonizers or of “recent” European immigrants). No, that doesn’t change that they’re Latinxs, but they’re predominantly ethnically white and therefore calling them a person of color is problematic because it erases actual people of color within the South American countries they come from, who are typically marginalized even within their countries, whether they be indigenous, afrolatinxs, muslim latinxs, asian latinxs, etc. 

Basically, I’d try my best to look for fcs who are confirmed to be diverse (also hard because there’s so much “blood myth” in SA - my own family always “joked” (yeah I know that’s terrible to say but I honestly can’t think of another way to phrase our problematic behavior) that we had indigenous blood but hardly believed it, though I recently proved us right when my DNA ancestry results came in as 8% indigenous (no, I don’t claim to be indigenous cause I’m basically 95% from Spain/Sephardic Jewish) but I have an issue with people who assume latinxs are instantly people of color when genuinely, a lot of the big name stars of South America aren’t. It’s erasure and problematic. 

Once again though, that does NOT make them not Latinxs though because they are white. Cultural/Ethnic Identity =/= Genetic makeup, ya feel?

Also, unpopular opinion time: but I’m slightly okay with a white european fc being played as a white latinx as long as you research the culture of the country you make them from. But it’s better if you pick an actual white latinx (since theres so many of them) to play said character, just don’t pass them for someone of color because they’re from South America. But even better, play a latinx who isn’t white - like Cardi B, Alfie Enoch, Harry Shum Jr and embrace the complexity of their cultural and ethnic identity!!

I’m using CS6 extended but it will work in all other versions
