“Jesus Made Me Bad” is a pretty daring title for your debut single; especially when the place you come from, is predominantly Catholic. But that doesn’t phase Bogáta based newcomer Lao Ra, who has done just that. Somewhere between M.I.A. and Gwen Stefani, the singer speaks of finding freedom within yourself when everything around you is blocking you in. All of this, over a calypso-like tune, topped off by some sweet sounding electronic glitches reminiscent of SOPHIE. This is a fiery debut, and we love it!

Bringing back this SONDAYMORNING video from the indie archives, if you will. Relaxed indie rock made of ballad-y lyrics and some bomb guitar tracks. Awesome to see a favorite band doing awesome things.

Been exploring some early pop punk/rock sounds on Spotify and Less Than Jake’s “Look What Happened” impressed me real good.

Rationale kills me every time. “Hold It” is described as: “uncomplicated banger... It's the sound of showing up at the party at 12:30, and all you friends are already there and having a great time”.

Pop folk acoustic country is possible, I guess. Little Jon’s “Sweet Home” is a year old but has no traction. Show this awesome jam some love.

Maybe once or twice a year, a small band stumbles my way with an absolutely phenomenal debut album that end up being one of my favorite albums of the year. I think 2015′s criminally underrated album might be the new one from Shy Kids. If you have the time, it’s available in its entirety on Soundcloud. Baldwin is just one of many highlights from the album.

If there is one thing that I love in music no matter what it is a sexy, smooth sax. “Rose” comes to us from Free n Losh and it is a hip-hop dubstep sax-infused wonder trip. So good it made it onto my hipstershit2.0 playlist (here).

Thief’s “Crazy” is about 5 months old and has been steadily building up steam. This Maroon 5-esqe jam is 80s pop rock reborn. I loved it so much I put it on my new playlist 80smaybe (here).

If you know me at all, you know I love a strong female vocalist and Stalking Gia is just that. “Born Free” is her empowering jam that borders on ballad. Blending electro/synth sounds with classic pop heart, “Born Free” is both tasteful and rock-out-y.

I found this recent Kid Astray song just when I needed it. “It’s Alright” is empowering indie rock/pop ballad with just the right mix of summer-y beats and smart lyrics.
